Strictly: The Professionals head to Bonus Arena

Ten of the world’s best professional dancers will be coming to Hull next year as part of Strictly Come Dancing: The Professionals UK Tour.

The show, which returns to the Bonus Arena on May 2, 2023, features the “exceptional talent” of TV’s hugely popular professional dancers, performed within the wonderful world of the BBC show, with its stunning costumes and sparkling sets.

Audiences are promised world-class dance, stunning choreography and glamorous costumes, with live Strictly Professionals: Dianne Buswell; Vito Coppola; Carlos Gu; Karen Hauer; Neil Jones; Nikita Kuzmin; Gorka Marquez; Luba Mushtuk; Jowita Przystal; and Nancy Xu.

Directed by Strictly’s Creative Director Jason Gilkison, Strictly Come Dancing: The Professionals will surprise and delight audiences with dance and choreography at the highest standard, the show says.

Customers of mobile network, Three, can get their hands on pre-sale tickets through its rewards app, Three+. Pre-sale tickets are on sale from Wednesday at 10am for up to 48 hours.

Tickets go on general sale on Friday at 10am from the Bonus Arena or Ticketmaster.

The Strictly Come Dancing professional dancers have begun their UK tour showcasing Latin and ballroom dances to a number of songs from music greats including Beyonce, David Bowie , Shania Twain and Snow Patrol.

Strictly winner Jowita Przystal and finalists Karen Hauer, Gorka Marquez and Carlos Gu were among those performing in glamorous costumes live for Hull’s Bonus Arena on Tuesday evening, kicking off the 31-date tour across England, Wales and Scotland.

Other performers from the BBC’s flagship show included top competitors Dianne Buswell , Vito Coppola, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Luba Mushtuk and Nancy Xu.

The debut featured showstopping group performances and couples performances, as well as a Disney tribute and an 80s mega mix.

It also included choreography to Let’s Dance by Bowie, Crazy In Love from Beyonce, Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars and Man! I Feel Like A Woman! from Twain.

It is the first Strictly tour for reigning champion Przystal, who won the Glitterball trophy in 2022 with TV presenter Hamza Yassin, and Gu, who came runner-up with actress and singer Molly Rainford.

Polish-born Przystal said: “I just feel happy and blessed. On the TV show, the spotlight is on the celebrities who are given 90 seconds to perform a routine. The stage show is something else.

“For one thing, there’s no real competition involved, just the enjoyment of the dances. I don’t think I’ll be nervous.”

While Chinese professional Gu said: “All the other professionals have told me this is going to be a spectacular experience.

“I’m very aware that there can be no second takes. Get it wrong and you just have to carry on. But that’s what’s going to get the adrenaline pumping. A live audience always brings out the best in me.”

11-time Italian Latin American Champion Coppola, who still speaks to his former dancing partner Fleur East “every day”, said of the tour: “I can’t wait to experience that feeling when the curtain goes up. I can’t wait to feel the love. I love Strictly, it’s completely changed my life.”

Meanwhile Buswell said the professional tour was her “favourite”, adding that it will be her birthday during the show on May 6 in Glasgow.

Speaking about what makes it special, she added: “I think it’s the passion we have for dancing. When we’re all together doing what we love, it generates a sort of magic.

“I get quite emotional at the end of the show when I look at the audience and see the love shining out of their eyes.

“I swear that people leave the theatre with more energy than when they arrived.”

Chinese professional Zu described the tour as a “dream come true”, Jones said it was “uniquely intimate”, while Ukrainian Nikita Kuzman said: “As simple as it sounds, the thing I’m looking forward to most is dancing with my fellow professionals.

“It gives us the freedom to do what we love doing most and to do so in front of people who are there because they love the TV show. I can’t wait to see the happiness in their eyes, the joy I hope we’ll bring them.”

Strictly veteran Hauer, who has been with the show since 2012, said the tour can be “exhausting” but “you never tire of the opportunity to showcase whatever talents you have”.

She is part of a routine which sees two females dancing together, following on from her partnership with comedian Jayde Adams on the show in 2022.

Fellow veteran Marquez, who has come runner-up three times on the show, said: “On the TV show, our job is to make the celebrities shine.

“On the tour, it’s our chance to show off our skills and to tell our personal stories.

“It’s also a way of thanking the audience for their love and support.”

We are sorry to inform you that the 2021 UK Tour of Strictly Come Dancing: The Professionals - including the date at the Bonus Arena, Hull on 3 July - will not go ahead as planned.

The difficult decision to move performances into the previously announced 2022 tour has had to be made because of the ongoing uncertainty about when theatres and live entertainment venues across England, Scotland and Wales will be allowed to host productions without the need for audiences to be socially distanced. Unfortunately due to the scale of the Strictly Come Dancing: The Professionals production, it is not possible to tour unless the show has the opportunity to perform to full capacity houses in all venues.

Ticketholders will be contacted by their point of purchase in the near future to discuss their options.

BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing's professional dancers are coming to Devon and are promising to put on a spectacular show. The Strictly Come Dancing The Professionals UK 2024 tour will include fans' favourites including Vito Coppola , Carlos Gu, Gorka Marquez , and the 2022 winner Jowita Przystal who lifted the glitterball trophy with her partner Hamza Yassin .

It's the first time there will be 12 dancers on the tour. The 2023 tour began earlier this year in Hull’s Bonus Arena with performances that included a Disney tribute and an 80s mega mix.

In 2024, the 36-date tour will begin at the New Theatre in Oxford on May 1. There will be dates in the south of England in Oxford, Plymouth , London, Brighton, Bournemouth and Portsmouth.

Strictly’s creative director Jason Gilkison, who has directed the touring show, said: “The 2023 tour was spectacular; we really pushed the boundaries with the choreography and as a result the show was phenomenal! We want to push that even further for 2024, with more dancers than ever before.

Also among the line-up is Australian Open Champion Dianne Buswell, Italian Latin Champion Graziano Di Prima, Strictly pro Karen Hauer, four-time British National Champion Neil Jones and six-time Italian Lat Ballroom Champion Nikita Kuzmin.

Strictly 2021 finalist Nancy Xu will also be in the mix, joined by ten-times Cyprus National Dance Champion Michelle Tsiakkas and four-time winner of the Italian Dance Championship Luba Mushtuk.

The professional dancers will travel across the UK to bring England, Scotland and Wales a flavour of ballroom dance. Travelling across the midlands and into the north, there will also be dates in Birmingham, Sunderland, Salford, Liverpool, Sheffield, Blackpool, Hull, Nottingham, Wolverhampton and Stockton.

In Wales there will be shows in Cardiff, Llandudno and Swansea, and in Scotland the production will be taken to Edinburgh and Glasgow. The tour will include matinee and evening shows and will come to an end on June 1 at the Globe Theatre in Stockton.

The BBC has revealed when Strictly Come Dancing will be returning to screens.

The cast for the upcoming 20 th anniversary season of the BBC series was announced in recent weeks , which came after the professional dancers taking part was also shared.

This year, the likes of Towie’s Pete Wicks , comedian Chris McCausland , Love Island contestant Tasha Ghouri , Go Compare singer Wynne Evans and JLS singer JB Gill are competing for the glitterball trophy.

They’ll be joined by DIY SOS star Nick Knowles , former footballer Paul Merson , 80s music icon Toyah Willcox , BBC Morning Live star Dr Punam Krishan and former England hockey player Sam Quek MBE .

Completing the line-up are Gladiators athlete Montell Douglas , Olympic swimmer Tom Dean , EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick , The X Factor winner Shayne Ward , and Miranda actress Sarah Hadland.

While a return date hasn’t officially been announced by the national broadcaster, it’s shared details of the dates when the episodes will be filmed.

When does Strictly Come Dancing 2024 begin?

The launch show for Strictly will be recorded in advance of this year’s live shows on Wednesday, September 4.

Hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will be kickstarting the new season with judges Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse as they welcome 15 brand new celebrities to the ballroom.

The pairings will also be revealed then too.

The BBC revealed the date on its official website, allowing fans to sign up for tickets for this season with a random draw.

Can you still get tickets to go to Strictly 2024?

Tickets are no longer available for the launch show (applications closed on July 30).

However, the draw for tickets for the subsequent 13 shows is still open.

Fans can apply for a maximum of one pair of tickets, which are non-transferable.

Shows will be filmed on Saturdays throughout September, October, November and December, with the first on September 21.

The final will be recorded on December 14.

Most will be filmed at Elstree Film Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.

When are the Halloween, Blackpool and Christmas specials?

The Halloween special will be filmed on Saturday, October 26, while the Blackpool one will be filmed at the Blackwood Tower Ballroom on Saturday, November 16.

Tickets for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special will be allocated in a separate random draw.

When is the final of Strictly 2024?

The 2024 Strictly final will be recorded on Saturday, December 14.

Is It Takes Two returning?

The companion show, Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, is also expected to return.

First airing in 2004, it is broadcast weekdays during the run of the main show on BBC Two at 6.30pm.

Who won Strictly Come Dancing 2023?

Former Coronation Street star Ellie Leach won the 2023 season of the show alongside pro partner Vito Coppola.

The runners-up were Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin and Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell.

Amy Dowden confirms Strictly return date as she shares cancer journey latest

Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden will be making a comeback as a professional dancer on the 2024 series after being given the 'all clear' during her cancer journey.

Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden appeared on This Morning ahead of the release of her emotional BBC documentary about her cancer journey. Strictly Amy: Cancer and Me is set to air tonight, on Bank Holiday Monday.

Amy, who is also releasing a new book, spoke to the show's hosts about the latest stage of her cancer journey, but she also gave some details about when Strictly will be back on screens.

When asked whether she knew who she would be partnered with, she said viewers would "have to wait and watch the launch show" which she confirmed would air on September 14.

She said: "The Strictly family, they were there with me every step of the way and I can't say to much but dancing again, a very special number, it was so emotional and so lovely. I just can't stop smiling."

This means the live shows are expected to take place from September 21.

The BBC had already low-key revealed the start date as they explained how fans could buy tickets.

Amy spoke positively about the show as she revealed she was very excited to be dancing with her friends again, and had worked so hard to make the 20th anniversary series as special as ever.

She detailed how the male professionals had "lifted her up" at the end of a routine and it felt "surreal" to be back performing with them.

In the same interview, she explained how she still had to continue cancer treatment for the next five years, having monthly injections.

However, she did confirm she was "cancer-free" and said writing a book and filming a documentary was like "therapy" for her.

She said she had been in "survival mode" for so long and it was the first opportunity to look back at how much she has been through.

She recently said her return to Strictly was thrown into doubt after another cancer scare.

The 34-year-old professional dancer, who was twice diagnosed with cancer last year, was rushed back to hospital for further tests as doctors were concerned about abnormalities in her breast.

She said she was "crushed" and had sleepless nights waiting for the news, but got the all-clear from her consultant.

After almost 6,000 fans packed out Bonus Arena last month, the Strictly Professionals have announced they will be back for two more shows in 2020.

Some of the best-loved professional dancers of the hit BBC show will be returning to the city centre venue on May 19 and 20, 2020.

A spokesman for the tour said: “The 2019 tour was among the first shows announced for the Myton Street venue and proved to be hugely successful, selling out an evening show quickly resulting in the addition of a matinee performance.

“In 2020, the show will return for two evening performances.

“The two nights are part of a brand new 34-date UK tour that will start in Salford and finish up in Edinburgh.

The much-anticipated return date for BBC Strictly has been announced, and fans are already buzzing with the opportunity to secure tickets.

After a period rife with drama for the beloved dance competition, where Amanda Abbington, aged 50, levelled accusations of "cruel" and "abusive" behaviour during rehearsals against professional dancer Giovanni Pernice, 33 allegations he has refuted there were concerns that the show might face cancellation.

However, those fears have been allayed as the comeback of the series is now set in stone, with tickets on offer. The BBC's 'Be in the audience' website has excitedly confirmed: "Strictly Come Dancing is back! The stunning 22nd series returns, bringing glamour and show-stopping dancing back to Saturday nights on BBC One."

With Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman at the helm, and judges Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood, and Motsi Mabuse returning, the show promises to deliver its usual sparkle live from Elstree Studios, including a special episode from Blackpool's iconic Tower Ballroom.

Eager fans can mark their calendars for the following dates to grab their tickets: Elstree Studios: September: 21 and 28, October: 5, 12, 19, 26, November: 2, 9, 23, 30 and December: 7 and 14. For the special Blackpool event, tickets will be available for Saturday, November 16, reports the Mirror .

Tickets for the upcoming shows will be distributed through a random draw, with applications open until September 2 at 10pm. Strictly enthusiasts can apply for up to one pair of tickets per recording, but successful applicants will only secure tickets for a single show.

People are encouraged to apply only if they plan to attend as the named ticket holder. The announcement is sure to delight Strictly fans, who have been worried that the show's live tours might not proceed next year.

A decision on Giovanni Pernice's alleged misconduct on Strictly is reportedly on the horizon following a tumultuous period for the show, and some fans speculate that the outcome could influence the future of the beloved dance series.

Annually, a selection of celebrities from the show join the professional dancers on a UK tour, thrilling legions of dedicated Strictly supporters. Additionally, there is a separate tour featuring just the professionals, showcasing their exceptional talents.

However, due to a scarcity of details regarding these eagerly anticipated events, one concerned fan took to Reddit to express their uncertainty: "I'm curious if there's going to be a Strictly The Professionals or a Strictly live tour next year. Usually they would have announced it and probably had tickets on sale before now. A lot of the pros also seem to be doing their own solo shows next year."

Yet another fan suggested it was premature to expect any news about the tour, responding: "They normally aren't announced until October."

The official website for the Strictly Come Dancing tour, a joint production by Stage Entertainment UK and Phil McIntyre Live in collaboration with BBC, also teases: "Announcement on 2025 tour coming soon!'" It then encourages those eager for the latest updates to join their email fanbase.
