gustavus campus tour

For many high school students, visiting campus is one of the most important parts of the college search and decision process. The opportunity to meet professors, eat in the cafeteria, and sit in on a class can make all the difference as they make one of the biggest choices of their lives. But for those who cannot travel to campus — or who just want to see Gustavus Adolphus College before visiting in person — there is a new interactive virtual tour that will introduce them to the Saint Peter, Minn. liberal arts college.

The tour includes 18 360-degree tour stops narrated by a virtual tour guide and includes supplemental video, pictures, and information to introduce prospective students to Gustavus. Developed by the Offices of Admission and Marketing & Communication in partnership with YouVisit, the tour can be accessed by computer, tablet, or phone and is also fully virtual reality compatible with a supporting headset.

“We’re excited to share the beauty of the Gustavus campus with a wide new audience through our virtual tour,” Associate Vice President and Dean of Admission Rich Aune said. “The ability to reach students on multiple platforms means that whether they’re just down the road or spread out across the world, future Gusties now have access to a dynamic visual introduction to Gustavus.”

The Gustavian Weekly

The gustavus adolphus college student newspaper since 1891, gustavus adolphus gave warm welcome to nle choppa.

Colleen Coleman-

On Friday, April 19th, 2024, the Campus Activities Board hosted the NLE Choppa concert in Lund Center. Gusties, friends, and more came from all over to St. Peter to see the rapper perform, packing the Don Roberts Ice Rink to kick off the spring weekend. DJ Kam Bennett opened for the rapper, starting out the night with some good music.

What started with a survey sent to students at the end of September ended up being a night of music, excitement, and entertainment. Throughout the year, CAB has been working hard to organize contracts, marketing and promotion, security, and much more. After being voted on by the student body, when the performer was announced around February Gusties were already buzzing with excitement for the concert. CABbies keeping the artist a secret made it even more suspenseful for the student body.

“For me, it was fun to watch everyone have an amazing time at the concert, and it showed all of our hard work [paid] off for everyone to enjoy themselves,” CAB Everyday Activities Executive and First-year Rae Holwerda said. “People drove far and wide for it, I know people who came from my hometown to come to see him, almost 2 hours away,” Holwerda said.

With the release of his latest single earlier this month, Gusties were excited to hear it performed for the first time live. NLE Choppa has had many songs reach the Billboard Hot 100 in the past, reaching #25 on the Billboard Artist 100 in 2020 according to the music publication company. “It was fun when he played his more well-known songs and people were screaming the lyrics. Sometimes the music would stop and it would just be the crowd screaming the words to the song, it was definitely one of my favorite parts,” First-year concert attendee Emily Jacobs said.

While it may seem odd for a famous rapper to come to a small-town liberal arts college in southern Minnesota, NLE Choppa has been known to perform on college campuses. Having regularly performed at colleges, it’s clear that students relate to the 21-year-old rapper’s music. His 2023 tour entitled the “NLE University Tour” was held on college campuses all around the United States, such as the University of Maine, Michigan State University, Georgia Tech, and many more. Although never going to college himself, NLE connects with audiences around his age. “It would’ve been beautiful to have a college experience. I would’ve gone to an HBCU for sure. I don’t regret not having a college experience and I’m still young enough to go back,” NLE Choppa in a 2023 interview said.

While CAB worked hard to put on the event, there was lots of help from Gusties and student organizations volunteering before, during, and after the concert. Through volunteering, Gusties had the opportunity to not only get complimentary tickets to the show, and funding for their student organizations but also to meet NLE Choppa himself afterward. Especially with this being the first big spring concert hosted since the pandemic, Gusties were eager to hear the rapper perform.

CAB’s hard work on hosting NLE Choppa’s concert this past week was clear to all Gusties and friends who attended. Through their work promoting, organizing, and planning this large-scale event, CAB was able to create a night full of entertainment and enjoyment for the greater Gustavus community.

1 killed, 4 injured in willington rollover crash , news world news, russia arrests another suspect in the concert hall attack that killed 144.

`MOSCOW (AP) — A Moscow court has detained another suspect as an accomplice in the attack by gunmen on a suburban Moscow concert hall that killed 144 people in March, the Moscow City Courts Telegram channel said Saturday.

Dzhumokhon Kurbonov, a citizen of Tajikistan, is accused of providing the attackers with means of communication and financing. The judge at Moscow’s Basmanny District Court ruled that Kurbonov would be kept in custody until May 22 pending investigation and trial.

Russian state news agency RIA Novosti said Kurbonov was reportedly detained on April 11 for 15 days on the administrative charge of petty hooliganism. Independent Russian media outlet Mediazona noted that this is a common practice used by Russian security forces to hold a person in custody while a criminal case is prepared against them.

Twelve defendants have been arrested in the case, including four who allegedly carried out the attack at the Crocus City Hall concert venue, according to RIA Novosti.

Those four appeared in the same Moscow court at the end of March on terrorism charges and showed signs of severe beatings. One appeared to be barely conscious during the hearing. The court ordered that the men, all of whom were identified in the media as citizens of Tajikistan, also be held in custody until May 22.

A faction of the Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the massacre in which gunmen shot people who were waiting for a show by a popular rock band and then set the building on fire. But Russian officials including President Vladimir Putin have persistently claimed, without presenting evidence, that Ukraine and the West had a role in the attack.

Ukraine denies involvement and its officials claim that Moscow is pushing the allegation as a pretext to intensify its fighting in Ukraine .

New Delhi [India], April 24 (ANI): Recognising market demand, the Moscow City Tourism Committee organized a conference for representatives of the Indian MICE industry, to introduce them to the tourism strengths of the Russian capital.

MICE stands for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions, and is a type of tourism in which large groups, usually plan things well in advance.

The event took place on April 19 in Delhi and brought together over 100 participants from MICE agencies of both countries, corporate customers, representatives of the travel industry in Moscow, Aeroflot and the Indian branches of Sberbank.

Business tourism is one of the most promising directions for Moscow.

In 2023, the capital was visited by 3.7 million business tourists – 7 per cent more than in 2022. And India remains one of the leaders among visitors from non-CIS countries in terms of the number of business travellers.

“The Russian capital as a centre of business tourism and corporate events is already an established and a strong brand in the international arena,” commented Anastasia Popova, Deputy General Director for International and Industry Cooperation of Project Office for the Development of Tourism and Hospitality in Moscow.

“Now our task is to demonstrate to our Indian partners all the possibilities of organizing high-value MICE events in Moscow in combination with already proven tourist programs,” said Popova.

At the Shaping MICE Future Conference, industry experts from Russia and India pronounced statements and speeches on the future of MICE events in these two countries, a presentation of the MICE potential of Moscow was showcased, and an analytical report on the state of the outbound MICE market in India was presented to the visitors.

During the panel discussion, participants assessed the current status and interaction peculiarities with the MICE market in India and developed recommendations for the MICE industry in Moscow during the general brainstorming session.

Representatives of the Indian MICE industry participated in B2B negotiations to find new cross-partners in the Moscow business environment and among representatives of the hospitality industry.

Representatives of the MICE industry took part in the event from Moscow.

Among them were DMC (Grand Rus, Academservice, Headed Goose, Satguru Travel, Isba Rus, Hug the Bear, Mellenium Group) as well as representatives of other partners interested in the development of MICE cooperation between Russia and India: Global transfers provider i’way and hotels Edge Seligerskaya and Edge Vinogradovo Moscow by Rotana.

“In 2024, we have witnessed a significant surge (more than quadruple) in the demand for transfers by Russians visiting India, both for business and leisure purposes. Muscovites are leading the trend, with 80 per cent of transfer bookings originating from the capital since the beginning of the year. Additionally, we observe a growing interest from Indian tourism agencies in exploring Russia, resulting in a substantial increase in our collaboration,” commented Dmitriy Saraykin, co-founder of Global Transfer Provider i’way.

The Shaping MICE Future conference allowed the Moscow City Tourism Committee to form a pool of MICE industry representatives in Moscow to prioritize incoming requests for events and clarify India’s requirements for business and corporate events to build mutually effective work. Indian colleagues received up-to-date information about Moscow as a safe and attractive MICE destination and were able to find potential partners among representatives of the MICE industry of the Russian capital and were able to present the MICE market in India.

“The event served as a remarkable platform for fostering meaningful dialogue and collaboration within the tourism industry. The event provided us with invaluable opportunities to engage with key stakeholders from the tourism department, as well as tour operators and service providers. The insights gained during the event underscored the Moscow City Tourism Committee’s keen interest in the Indian outbound market, and we are optimistic about the promising prospects for Moscow as a destination, particularly in the post-pandemic landscape. We firmly believe that with concerted efforts and strategic initiatives, Moscow has the potential to emerge as a top-choice destination for Indian tourists,” said Mudit Mathur, director of Tours Delite India, representing Academ Service – Russia in India.

The conference also assessed the solutions to foreign demand for non-standard venues and elements in MICE programs, such as museums, parks, theaters and others. Holding MICE events at offbeat locations, such as the State Historical Museum, the Moscow Planetarium and Khudozhestvenny Cinema, is becoming popular.

This helps to attract conference organizers and creates a unique experience for the participants. Working in this format, many visitors who come to Moscow on a business trip want to return with their families and spend time as regular tourists. (ANI)
