OneRepublic is an American pop-rock band originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado (US). It formed in 2002 and has been active ever since. Originally achieving commercial success through MySpace, founding members Ryan Tedder and Zach Filkins formed the band and released its music online unsigned.

In 2003, OneRepublic traveled west and played shows around the Los Angeles, U.S., area.

OneRepublic added pianist Drew Brown, bassist/cellist Brent Kutzle, and drummer Eddie Fisher to the lineup while playing its initial live shows. After being approached by many labels, the band signed with Velvet Hammer (an imprint of Columbia records), whose roster now includes the likes of Coheed and Cambria, Deftones, and System of a Down.

Unlike other bands under the Velvet Hammer label, OneRepublic’s sound has seen more mainstream than alternative success. With collaborations with producers like Timbaland on what is arguably its biggest hit to date, “Apologize,” remixed and recorded in 2006 and featured on Timbaland’s album Shock Value, OneRepublic has safely secured itself quite a few popular rock music fans. The band was also dropped from Columbia’s label around this time and signed to Timbaland’s Mosley Music Group.

“Apologize” appeared again in 2007, this time in its original form on OneRepublic’s debut album, Dreaming Out Loud. The remixed version of the song had record radio plays in North America (it was played 10,394 times in just one week) and this play score was only beaten by the single “Bleeding Love” by Leona Lewis (which, was also co-written by OneRepublic frontman, Ryan Tedder). The other hit single from its platinum debut album is “Stop and Stare,” which saw almost equal success as the previous single.

OneRepublic’s second album, Waking Up, was released in 2009 and reached the top 10 on Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. Singles from this album included “All the Right Moves,” “Marchin On,” and “Good Life.”

In March of 2013, OneRepublic released Native, its third studio album and an official end to a hiatus that had lasted for three and a half years. Native hit number four on the Billboard 200 upon its debut, marking the band’s first time cracking the top 10 in the U.S. First-week sales exceeded 60,000, the best since Dreaming Out Loud.

The lead single from Native was “Feel Again.” Released on August 27, 2012, it climbed to number 36 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and later went platinum. The next single, “If I Lose Myself,” has been certified gold in both Australia and Italy. The next single, “Counting Stars,” exceeded all expectations by becoming the band’s biggest hit yet — it reached the top five in 14 countries and even hit number one in the UK and number two in the U.S. The accompanying music video has over 3.5 billion views on YouTube.

The tours after Native took OneRepublic across Europe, Oceania, North America, and Asia and featured co-headlining duties with acts like American Authors, Sara Bareilles, and The Script. 169 shows later, the band completed its biggest tour yet.

November 2014 saw photos from the band on Twitter with the caption “Hotel recording, Poland. Album 4.” Half a year later, Tedder announced that OneRepublic was heading in a new artistic direction. Since the band values innovation and never repeats the same sound twice, the new album would prove to be yet another surprise for fans.

The group announced in September 2015 that the next album would come early the next year. The wait was long — it wasn’t until May 12 that a new single called “Wherever I Go” dropped. The next single, “Kids,” came out on August 12, and the album called Oh My My came out October 7, 2016. Oh My My struck a chord with listeners, hitting number three on the U.S. Billboard 200 and becoming the highest-charting album in the band’s career to date.

Between 2017 and 2019, OneRepublic shifted its strategy in song releases. Lead singer Ryan Tedder wrote a candid post to fans, saying he was dealing with “crippling anxiety” and illness due to constant touring, promoting, and recording. He said the band would be releasing new music in the form of singles as opposed to traditional albums. In 2017, it released singles including “Born to Race,” “Rich Love,” “Truth to Power,” and “No Vacancy.”

It seemed that the love for music helped Tedder overcome his struggles — in September 2017, he announced the band had begun working on a fifth album. The band also featured on the song “Stranger Things” by Kygo, which came out in 2017. The next year, it opened for the Zac Brown Band on tour.

Its 2018 singles included “Start Again” (featuring Logic), “Connection,” and a cover of “White Christmas.” The lead single from the fifth album arrived on May 17, 2019 and was entitled “Rescue Me.” The subsequent singles, “Wanted” and “Somebody to Love,” preceded the announcement that the new album would be called Human and would come out in spring of 2020. After multiple delays, Human did finally come out in August of 2021.

Currently, the world awaits OneRepublic’s sixth studio album, which the band has teased with songs “Sunshine” and “West Coast.” Its singles were featured in Top Gun: Maverick and other films, building anticipation for what is sure to be a phenomenal release.

The band’s calendar currently includes concerts across multiple continents. Catch OneRepublic on tour to see one of the most exciting acts in rock today.

Live reviews

One Republic is such a great band! At Stadthalle here in Vienna, Ryan Tedder was the living proof that a tight touring schedule is BAD FOR YOU. He was clearly nursing a bad cold and spent the entire concert croaking his way through each song, running out of breath. Hitting the right notes was an exercise in semi-happy accidents and the more frustrated he got, the worse things were. From the beginning it was clear that the entire band would rather be anywhere else than on stage. Uninspired, tired and - almost in an effort to convince themselves - Ryan regurgitated the touring-phrases "Vienna - we love you!" and "Vienna is one of our top-five favourite places to play!" (replace "Vienna" with a city of your choice) with little conviction. They tried. Oh, they tried, but as the show went on, I only felt sorry for them, wishing them a long holiday in the Bahamas. Heavy touring is not for this band. If you wish to see them, make sure to catch them early on and preferably only after they have had at least a full week with no appearances anywhere else. And Ryan - please get some singing lessons to help you protect your voice in these conditions. There are techniques, you know. Singing should not sound laboured. 15 November 2014 you went far beyond laboured with your singing. "It's a wonderful world"? Not for a voice that is crying out for a rest.

One Republic was literally incredible - I was lucky enough to be right at the front, and it was so exhilarating. They started with a white sheet in front of the stage so no one could see what was going on, and when they started, all the lights went out except for one spotlight which lit up the silhouette of Ryan - who sang Light It Up a capella, until he reached the chorus when the music kicked in, the sheet dropped and all the lights came on, it was incredible.

You don't have to be massive fan to enjoy yourself, you'll find you know the words to at least a few of their songs, like Apologise, Good Life and Counting Stars. They cover all sorts, from the old ones everyone knows to the new ones which are just incredible, as well as a couple of really good covers which are often an improvised one off. If you are a fan of Imagine Dragons, Coldplay or anyone else similar then you will enjoy yourself at One Republic immensely. Not only do they put on an incredible show, with light up pianos, projector screens showing various clips, lightbulbs hanging from the ceiling, tonnes of confetti and incredible live music, you can't take your eyes of Ryan because his stage presence and talent is immense. Can't recommend these enough - no matter how much or how little you like them beforehand, you will come away a fan, guaranteed.

It's time to re-evaluate your priorities. Seeing OneRepublic live in concert should be at the top of your bucket list!

Ryan Tedder and his band are well known for winning over music listeners through the radio waves, but I promise seeing them in concert is an exciting experience you'll have to see to believe. Known for talkable lyrics, and incredible musical organization, OneRepublic will keep you dancing, singing, and moving for years after their memorable concerts.

Ryan likes to throw in some acoustic sets, and I often find that each concert has a variety of popular hits arranged for an acoustic gathering. He also likes to treat his audiences to covers because, as he recently put it, "I like to sing lyrics that I wished I wrote myself." You'll get to hear the story behind the music and be treated to a wide range of stunning vocals.

See OneRepublic live and soon you'll be counting stars!

OneRepublic is a great band and they showed this with a steady stream of their hits. Faves of the night included 'What You Wanted' and 'Secrets'. The "coffee shop" / small-band segment was really interesting and highlighted the tight playing of the group. Lead singer Ryan Tedder engaged the audience continually and made many references to the city and the Calgary Flames (hockey team) which, predictably, got the crowd excited. The covers were excellent and fun - 'Apologize' / 'Stay With Me' (Sam Smith); 'Budapest' (George Ezra); and, 'What a Wonderful World' (Louis Armstrong). An awesome night.

Also - I had heard that 'Kongos' had been opening for OneRepublic earlier in the tour and was totally bummed they weren't opening here but 'Lights' was really good. She really got the crowd going and has a great energy.

OneRepublic won my heart with some silly commentary. ("This is our second show of the tour. So when - not if, when - something goes wrong, please forgive us." "If you know the words, sing them. Because I will probably forget them." "I promised I'd never sing these songs I wrote because they weren't for OneRepublic. But it's been ten years, and I don't care about being cool, so let's do it. Cool is relative.") I was also especially happy to hear their cover of James Arthur's "Say You Won't Let Go" when James couldn't perform due to sickness. Overall, OneRepublic really related to me an individual level rather than as an all-star mega-huge performing band, and I appreciated that authenticity and silliness.

It was a very nice concert, but nothing more special than the album songs,,,, I had expected some more life entertainment, more show and disappointing was the performance of " if love runs out ". A lot of people left already before this song... I had the pleasure, I thought it would be a pleasure, to enter through VIP Premium, car near tot the Burg and drinks and food.. but to my disappointment, all te places to see the boys were occupied, and it was quit a distance to see them.. so I had to walk down, which was not a pleasure. Also the public was very quit and not interacting with the group.

So very reserved... I had expect more life! The performance was good, maybe to good to be a life concert...

OneRepublic, 11 November, Tallinn.

People were waiting and waiting after the warm-up band The Kongos perfomed. And 1R started to sing behind a huge sheet. Only their shadows were seen. And then boom and then the sheet came down and I just felt my heart cheer up. When the beat of "What you wanted" started, my whole body electrified. The way Ryan plays the piano and takes the high notes is just unbelievable. They had put some "estonish" things in the background and it was so heart warming. They even sang the song "Good life" with the word Estonia in there. It was a great show! I sang my heart out and it was just really spectacular.

Loved them so much! ♥

Oh my gosh! I waited 5 years to see OneRepublic live and wow was it worth the wait! These guys are absolutely amazing and sound even better live than they do on their CDs (if that’s even possible)! Ryan puts on such an amazing performance and whilst you are stood there at the end completely out of breath, with a sore throat and sweating, he’s still bouncing around on stage and giving it his all. The energy Ryan brings to the stage is unreal- he’s dancing to every song and still singing perfectly. These guys put on one of the best performances I’ve ever seen so if you are going to see anyone live in concert, make it these guys!!

We are devout fans of OneRepublic for years now. This was our 6th concert following them from California, to CO, NY, and OK. We paid enormous prices to be able to sit in the front row. OneRepublic never disappoints, however, compared to their other concerts, we were saddened that there were no encores, almost felt their performance was "phoned in". Seems like they are becoming more and more detached from their fans, not very interactive anymore. Almost robotic. In light of his recent struggles, it seems they can't shake the "burn out" from so much touring.

Praying that changes and doesn't leave a bad stain on their career.

Onerepublic gave an AMAZING concert. There are very few artists who can do what they did. Onerepublic took many of their own songs, played them in a completely different way ("Come Home" on guitar, "Good Life" as an edm-ish version), and they still sounded incredible, and the room full of singing fans definitely approved. Nearly every person there was on their feet for the entire concert- it was that energetic. Even some odd number of days later I still can't stop talking about this concert and how talented Onerepublic is. I already knew they were a great band but this really comfirmed that.

  • 11:24, 4 OCT 2022

UK fans can see the band for one night only at OVO Wembley next summer

One Republic will play in Wembley next summer as part of their European 'Live in Concert' tour, and thousands of fans are expecting to get tickets to their only show in the UK.

The band will play at the OVO Arena in Wembley on June, 14 2023. Fans can get tickets to see their only UK show on Friday, October 7 from 9am on Ticketmaster and SeeTickets. There is no pre-sale option available for fans to buy tickets early, so given London is their only UK venue next summer, queue's are expected to reach high numbers.

The bands newly announced tour celebrates both their new music and hits from the past, including their latest album 'One Night in Malibu', released in February this year, which is a combination of their biggest and most popular music to date.

And of course fans will also get a glimpse of the bands most recent hit single 'I Ain't Worried' which has fallen onto many of our screens as it features on the soundtrack for the 2022 Top Gun: Maverick film, starring Tom Cruise. This was the second newly released song from the band this year, as their earlier 'West Coast' single wowed fans in February.

Following the show in London the band will play in two European cities, with two shows announced in Austria and six across Germany, including in Salem which is the closing show of their tour at the end of July. Before embarking on the European leg the rock band have a host of dates in Asia, with stops in Malaysia, Singapore and Tokyo.

The bands shows in Tokyo are significant with frontman Ryan Tedder's recent work with K-Pop band Blackpink, on their recent album 'Born Pink'. Although no collaborations have come yet, it's a mix both fanbases are eager for.

Essential Albums

OneRepublic has never been shy about its ambitions nor its perfectionist tendencies. Before committing to the release of album number three, the band posted that “it has to literally be the best thing we’ve ever done.” Those are especially big words for a Grammy-nominated group with half a dozen hit singles under its belt and a frontman who co-wrote and co-produced Beyoncé’s “Halo,” Adele’s “Rumour Has It,” and many other pop-chart standouts. At this point, the trickiest thing for Ryan Tedder to juggle was the songs for others vs. the songs for his own band. But on 2013’s Native, his stratospheric vision for OneRepublic is abundantly clear: to be a source of entertainment and the pure celebration of life. An extension of the band’s breezy 2009 hit “Good Life,” Native packages unbridled optimism in stratospheric pop-rock, impeccably polished with shimmering keyboards and topped with life-affirming gospel rave-ups. The big twist here is in the lyrics—many of which view life in the face of death. “I had a dream the other night about how we only get one life,” Tedder intones in a lullaby-like croon on “Something I Need,” before the song builds into a swelling, swaying sing-along: “If we only die once, I wanna die with you,” a choir pipes in. This romanticism pops up throughout the album. On the EDM-pumped “If I Lose Myself,” he repeats a similar mantra: “If I lose myself tonight, it’ll be by your side.” Such grand statements come with even grander arrangements. The band deftly moves between churning alt-rock (“Light It Up”), skyscraping electro-soul (“Can’t Stop”), stomping folk-pop (“Counting Stars”), and a little bit of all of it for the triumphant “I Lived,” the ultimate anthem for living every day like it’s the last.

About onerepublic.

Pop-rock band OneRepublic have been consistent hitmakers of the 21st century, without ever sticking to a formula. A lot of that pop intuition and innovation starts with frontman Ryan Tedder, who began playing coffeehouses in Colorado in the late ’90s with high school buddies including guitarist Zach Filkins. When Tedder moved to Los Angeles a few years later, he reconnected with Filkins and together they formed OneRepublic in 2002. At the same time, Tedder was building his career as a songwriter, eventually writing and producing singles for artists like Leona Lewis, Hilary Duff, and Jennifer Lopez. But when it came to his own band, he’s said his goal has never been to write a hit, only to create genuine works of art: “It has to be a hundred-percent authentic and visceral to my human experience. If I haven’t felt it, if I didn’t go through it, if it’s not resonating with me, I can’t sing it,” Tedder told Apple Music. That straight-from-the-heart mentality is what ignites the straight-to-the-gut effect of OneRepublic’s greatest anthems, starting with their 2006 debut single “Apologize”—which eventually became a multiplatinum success—and later with even bigger songs like 2013’s propulsive folk-pop stomper “Counting Stars” and more diverse sounds such as 2016’s silvery synth groove “Kids.” As Tedder continues to rack up songwriting and production credits alongside Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, Adele, and other chart-topping stars, he’s still saving up his hardest emotional punches for OneRepublic’s next global smash.

About onerepublic.

OneRepublic is an American alternative rock band formed in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 2002. It consists of lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Tedder, guitarist Zach Filkins, guitarist Drew Brown, bassist and cellist Brent Kutzle, drummer Eddie Fisher and keyboardist Brian Willett. The band first achieved commercial success on Myspace as an unsigned act. In late 2002, after OneRepublic played shows throughout the Los Angeles area, several record labels approached the band with interest, but the band ultimately signed with Velvet Hammer, an imprint of Columbia Records. They made their first album with producer Greg Wells during the summer and fall of 2005 at his studio, Rocket Carousel, in Culver City, California. The album was originally scheduled for release on June 6, 2006, but the group was dropped by Columbia two months before the album came out. The lead single of that album, "Apologize", was released on April 30, 2006, on Myspace and received some recognition there, becoming number one on the Myspace charts.

In 2007, OneRepublic released their debut album, Dreaming Out Loud. Its lead single, "Apologize", was remixed by Timbaland, becoming a huge international success, reaching number one in sixteen countries and subsequently earning them a Grammy Award nomination. The second single, "Stop and Stare", mirrored its predecessor's success. The album was later certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The band's second album, Waking Up (2009), produced the singles "All the Right Moves", "Secrets", "Marchin On", and "Good Life", with the latter reaching the top ten of the US Billboard Hot 100.

OneRepublic's third album, Native (2013), became the band's first top ten album on the Billboard 200, and highest-charting album to date, charting at number four. The lead single, "If I Lose Myself", charted within the top ten in several countries, while the album's third single, "Counting Stars", became the band's most successful single in recent years, obtaining top-five placements in Australia, Canada, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, the U.S., and the UK. This marks their highest charting single in the United Kingdom to date. It has also peaked at number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, matching their highest peak of "Apologize" in 2007.

On October 7, 2016, OneRepublic released Oh My My, their fourth studio album, which featured a number of collaborators, including Cassius, Peter Gabriel, and Santigold. Preceded by the singles "Wherever I Go", released on May 13, 2016, and "Kids", released on August 12, 2016, it was recognized as a change in their sound in contrast to previous albums by both critics and the band itself. In 2017, the band released the singles "No Vacancy", "Truth to Power", "Stranger Things" with Kygo and "Rich Love" with Seeb. To date, the band has sold approximately over 16 million records worldwide.

Grace Cummings ' voice sounds like it was shot across the universe, gathering momentum and absorbing everything it came across in its journey to your ears. It carries a lot of weight.

On her 2022 album, Storm Queen , the Australian singer-songwriter's vocals are front and center, with instrumentation that accentuates the emotional resonance of her singing. On her new album, Ramona , the arrangements have risen to match the intensity of Cummings' singing.

It's a sonically dense album, produced by Jonathan Wilson and recorded in Topanga Canyon, just outside of Los Angeles. In this session, Cummings talks about why she wanted a bigger-sounding record; how Bob Dylan 's "To Ramona" inspired the title track; and why capturing your emotions in a song is something you either have or you don't.

SEVENTEEN become first K-pop act to headline Lollapalooza Berlin as Jeonghan gives last performance before enlistment

The boyband shared their thoughts on the appearance with NME ahead of the German festival

lollapalooza berlin 2024 seventeen

SEVENTEEN became the first K-pop act to headline Lollapalooza Berlin tonight (September 8), with their history-making performance also serving as singer Jeonghan ’s last before his mandatory military service.

  • READ MORE:  SEVENTEEN on making history at Glastonbury: “We’ll try to blow their minds with this weapon that we have”

The 13-member boyband topped the Main Stage South stage today, joining other acts, including Sam Smith , Martin Garrix , Burna Boy , OneRepublic and The Chainsmokers , as the festival’s 2024 headliners.

The group performed with 12 members during the set, with singer Jun previously confirmed not to be participating due to scheduling conflicts with an acting project he is working on in China. They were joined by a live backing band for the occasion.

“It’s an honour I never expected,” singer Joshua told NME of headlining Lollapalooza Berlin ahead of the performance. “I never imagined we’d get to perform at Lolla Berlin, a festival we’ve only seen in the media.”

He continued by nodding to the group’s first UK performance in June, which saw them become the first K-pop act ever to play at Glastonbury Festival . “Given how performing or meeting fans in Europe seemed almost impossible since the pandemic, playing Glastonbury was already surreal,” Joshua said.

“Now, adding a headlining set at Lolla feels amazing and makes me so proud of SEVENTEEN, the team we are,” he added. “We hope this will be another chance for audiences to see what we’re all about and want to keep performing for more people on a variety of stages moving forward.”

“Recently, most of our performances have taken place in indoor venues, so playing the wide-open outdoor stage at Glastonbury was a rare and exciting experience,” rapper Wonwoo shared of how that headline-grabbing performance was fuelling their set in Germany.

Recommended

He continued: “It was a great opportunity to showcase our music and energy in a new setting for a fresh crowd. With that still fresh in my mind, I’ll do my best to bring the same great energy and performance to Lolla Berlin.”

SEVENTEEN’s Lollapalooza Berlin headline set kicked off with their 2023 single ‘Super’ before diving into their back catalogue for the likes of the English-language ‘Darl+ing’ and the 2021 singles ‘Ready to love’ and ‘Rock with you’. After the latter, singer Seungkwan told the crowd: “We couldn’t believe you guys could follow along to our songs so well, you’re doing amazing. I’m so touched.”

The middle portion of the performance was dedicated to unit performances, beginning with BSS – members Seungkwan, Hoshi and DK – delivering a version of their track ‘Fighting’ . The vocal unit of Seungkwan, DK, Jeonghan, Joshua and Woozi and the performance unit of Hoshi, The8 and Dino both revisited their songs from April’s greatest hits album ‘SEVENTEEN Best Album ’17 Is Right Here’’ with ‘Cheers to youth’ and ‘Spell’, respectively.

The hip-hop unit – comprised of Mingyu , S.Coups, Wonwoo and Vernon – performed ‘Fire’ before SVT LEADERS (S.Coups, Hoshi and Woozi) aired their 2022 collaboration ‘CHEERS’. As the unit section came to an end, the crowd began to chant SEVENTEEN’s name, with the group responding from the stage with their own chant of “Berlin”.

“I want to thank Carats [SEVENTEEN’s fanbase name] from all over the world for supporting us,” rapper Mingyu said after rousing renditions of ‘SOS’ and ‘HOT’, referring both to the international make-up of the crowd in front of him and the fans watching online around the globe. “I love you Carats, thank you so much.”

“Thank you for coming. Let’s have fun until the end, thank you,” Jeonghan added, with the audience responding by breaking out in a chant of his name. The performance was his last prior to his enlistment for his mandatory military service, with the group’s label, PLEDIS Entertainment, confirming in August that the singer is set to miss SEVENTEEN’s upcoming world tour. The exact date of his enlistment is yet to be announced.

“Rather than doing something out of the ordinary, I just want to show myself as Jeonghan,” the star shared with NME prior to the headline set. “I’m excited to deliver a captivating performance with the members that will create another great memory for Carats to look back on.”

SEVENTEEN closed out their performance with the aptly titled ‘Headliner’, the English version of their ‘Heng:garæ’ track ‘Together’, ‘God Of Music’ and fan favourite ‘VERY NICE’. During the latter, which saw the boyband repeat the refrain multiple times – a tradition known as “never-ending ‘Aju Nice’” – Seungkwan recruited fans on the barrier to help sing one of the song’s most climactic lines. “We’re making such good memories here, all thanks to you, Berlin,” Vernon told the crowd.

The group will next turn their focus to their 2024 ‘Right Here’ world tour , which kicks off in Goyang, South Korea, on October 12 with two dates at Goyang Stadium. The tour will then visit the US in October and November before heading to Japan.

It is currently unclear if the group will visit Europe for their own headline concerts on this run. “We know how much our fans are waiting for us there,” Seungkwan told NME in June . “I can’t say for sure at this point in time, but we’re definitely talking to the company, and we want to make it happen.”

SEVENTEEN are also expected to make a comeback with their upcoming 12th mini-album later this year. Jun will miss both the ‘Right Here’ world tour and promotional activities around the record as he pursues “acting and other opportunities in China”.

Lollapalooza Berlin, meanwhile, has confirmed its dates for 2025 – the 10th anniversary of the festival’s German edition. It will return on July 12 and 13, 2025, with the line-up to be confirmed in due course.

SEVENTEEN played:

‘Super’ ‘Don Quixote’ ‘Darl+ing’ ‘Ready to love’ ‘Rock with you’ ‘Left & Right’ ‘Fighting’ ‘Cheers to youth’ ‘Spell’ ‘Fire’ ‘CHEERS’ ‘CLAP’ ‘MAESTRO’ ‘SOS’ ‘HOT’ ‘Headliner’ ‘Together (English ver.)’ ‘God Of Music’ ‘VERY NICE’

Dhani Harrison to Release Concert Film Performance of 2023 Album ‘INNERSTANDING’

Tina Benitez-Eves

Updated:

A year after releasing INNERSTANDING , Dhani Harrison is sharing a visual trip behind the making of the album in a new concert film, INNSERSOUNDSTAGE , premiering on YouTube and video on demand for 24 hours on September 27. Filmed at Soundstage Studios in North London and directed by Joel Kazuo Knoernschild, INNERSOUNDSTAGE is a full live performance of the album, featuring an eight-piece band with guitarist Jeff Wootton, bassist Toby Butler, drummer Donovan Hepburn, and keyboardist Josh Giroux, along with special guests Australian singer Mereki Beach and The Duke Spirit’s Liela Moss, who also appear on INNERSTANDING , and saxophonist Alex White. The dimly lit performance captures the entirety of INNERSTANDING , including singles “ Damn That Frequency ,” featuring Blur ‘s Graham Coxon, and “I.C.U.” “I wrote ‘INNERSTANDING’ during a time when touring wasn’t a possibility,” said Harrison of the film in a statement, “so I thought it was important to document the album in a live setting with some of the incredible musicians I collaborated with to create it.” Harrison’s solo work began with the release of his 2006 debut EP  EP001  with Thenewno2, a collaborative project with Oliver Hecks. The duo released one more EP and three albums together, including their 2008 debut  You Are Here ,  thefearofmissingout  in 2012, and the 2013 release  Beautiful Creatures . The latter album was also the soundtrack to the Richard LaGravenese film of the same name.

Earlier in 2023, the solo catalog of his father  George Harrison moved to Dark Horse Records , the label the late Beatle founded in 1974. Now run by Dhani and David Zonshine, Dark Horse oversees Harrison’s catalog, from his 1968 debut  Wonderwall   Music through his 12th and final album  Brainwashed  from 2002, along with housing the music of Ravi Shankar, Joe Strummer , Nina Simons, Billy Idol , and Yusuf/Cat Stevens , among others.

Linkin Park performed together for the first time in Los Angeles on Thursday for ticketed fans who were transported by buses to a studio lot. The event was livestreamed and will be available to view on Linkin Park’s official online channels for the next 24 hours.

According to a press release, Shinoda, Delson, Farrell and Hahn “quietly began meeting up again in recent years” and “rather than ‘trying to restart the band,'” they worked with numerous musicians and “found a special kinship with Armstong and Brittain.”

About the new era, Shinoda said in a statement, “Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking. Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future — embracing our signature sound, but new and full of life. It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family, and our fans. We are proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years, and excited about the journey ahead.”

Pre-sale tickets for the “From Zero” tour will be available for the LP Underground fan club starting Sept. 6. The general sale will start the following day on Sept. 7.

This announcement follows Linkin Park’s release of its “Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023)” from earlier this spring. The 20-song LP collected the bestselling band’s greatest hits across a two-decade-plus run. It was released via Warner Records, and featured songs including “In the End,” “Burn It Down” and a Jay-Z mash-up, “Numb/Encore,” as well as “Lost,” which helped propel its parent LP, “Meteora,” to return to the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart.

“We feel really empowered with this new lineup… We’re weaving together the sonic touchpoints we’ve been known for and still exploring new ones,” comments Mike Shinoda.

Linkin Park are making a comeback, and they’ve got a new vocalist and drummer in tow.

The rock outfit had been stringing us along for weeks – they first caused a stir by launching a mysterious countdown in August, which then frustratingly reset and began counting upwards as soon as it hit zero. Finally, the band hosted a livestream event on 5 September in which they confirmed their return, and two new members.

  • READ MORE: Six unique and important guitars that helped shape nu metal

Joining Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix (Dave Farrell), and Joe Hahn, are new co-vocalist Emily Armstrong of critically acclaimed band Dead Sara, and Colin Brittain as drummer, a songwriter/producer who’s worked with G Flip, Illenium, and One OK Rock. Longtime drummer Rob Bourdon will not be returning for this new era, according to reports.

Along with the news of their new members, the six-piece also shared their first brand new music in seven years during the livestream, with a taster of song The Emptiness Machine from a brand new album called From Zero , due for release on 15 November.

Linkin Park went on hiatus following the tragic passing of vocalist Chester Bennginton, who took his own life back in 2017. Shinoda, Delson, Farrell, and Hahn quietly began meeting up again in recent years however, and rather than “trying to restart the band,” they simply spent more time together as friends.

During this period, they eventually invited various other pals to join them in the studio, which is when they found “a special kinship” with Armstong and Brittain. Armstrong certainly carries similar vast and chilling vocal abilities to Bennington, in addition to her own unique stylings, and joining a band in which there’s been a loss is never an easy thing to do.

Throughout their livestream event though, all members were captured beaming with joy, which for any Linkin Park fan is a welcomed sight after all this time. And Shinoda knows that Bennington’s shoes will never be filled – this is a new and unique chapter entirely for the band.

After introducing each member to the crowd gathered before them at the livestreamed LA show, Shinoda adds, “And in the role of Chester Bennington this afternoon, is each of you.”

Check out their huge new song below, and catch up on the livestream:

In a press release shared with Guitar.com , Shinoda further comments, “The more we worked with Emily and Colin, the more we enjoyed their world-class talents, their company, and the things we created. We feel really empowered with this new lineup and the vibrant and energised new music we’ve made together. We’re weaving together the sonic touchpoints we’ve been known for and still exploring new ones.”

In support of the album, they’ll also embark on a short world tour with six dates taking place across the globe this September, with one scheduled for November. These are:

  • 11 September — Kia Forum — Los Angeles, CA
  • 16 September — Barclays Center — New York, NY
  • 22 September — Barclays Arena — Hamburg, Germany
  • 24 September — The O2 – London, UK
  • 28 September — INSPIRE Arena — Seoul, South Korea
  • 11 November — Coliseo Medplus — Bogota, Colombia

Tickets go on sale Saturday 7 September. You can also pre-order the brand new album from Linkin Park now.
