2023-2024 Caribbean Cruises

Our new 2023-2024 Caribbean season is our most exciting yet, because our next Edge® Series ship, Celebrity Ascent, is debuting in the islands. There’s no better place for a ship designed to connect you more closely than ever to the sea and all the sun-soaked places on the horizon. But that’s just the start, because with Celebrity Ascent, we’ll have eight stunning ships covering the Caribbean—including three revolutionary Edge Series ships—from the colorful reefs of Belize to the white sands of St. Lucia. Choose from a wide variety of sailings ranging from 4 to 11 nights for just the right amount of island time, departing from Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Tampa. Plus, we’ve added the new port of Scarborough, Tobago to our already impressive lineup of tropical destinations, and we’ve brought back a popular double-overnight stay in New Orleans during Mardi Gras. There are so many amazing Caribbean sailings this season, you might want to book more than one.

Itineraries

Returning port, scarborough, tobago.

Scarborough is steeped in history going back to the 1600s, and the British, Dutch, and French all left their mark here. That history comes to life at Fort King George, built in 1781, with its well-preserved prison, canons, and other intriguing relics. Nature lover? The Nylon Pool is your ideal escape. It’s a naturally formed swimming area in the middle of the sea created by an offshore sandbar. Nearby Buccoo Reef is a great place to snorkel. Not to be outdone, Pigeon Point Beach and the Main Ridge Forest Reserve offer even more natural beauty to enjoy.

The 16 Best Cruises to Book in 2023, According to T+L's Expert

Travel + Leisure hand-selected 16 different types of on-the-water adventures to consider in the year ahead.

Paul Brady is the news director at Travel + Leisure and the brand's expert on cruise travel. He has been covering the travel industry for more than 15 years for outlets including Condé Nast Traveler , Skift , and The Huffington Post .

Cruising is in the midst of an epic comeback . Travelers are turning to trusted lines to help minimize the hassles of country hopping and maximize relaxation time in each destination. With 2023 poised to be a big year for both new and frequent cruisers — thanks in part to an abundance of new ships and itineraries — Travel + Leisure has hand-selected 16 different types of adventures to consider in the year ahead.

The Nile on Viking Osiris

Alastair Miller/Courtesy of Viking

Viking Osiris is the line’s newest on the Nile, with just 41 suites and staterooms, a pool deck, and cool Scandinavian design. The ship sails between Aswan and Luxor, with pre- and post-sail touring in Cairo included with the 12-day itineraries.

Alaska on Ocean Victory

The Alaska trips on Ocean Victory , a fuel-efficient, 93-cabin ship from American Queen Voyages, come with the opportunity to kayak past glaciers and spot bald eagles and grizzlies. The vessel, which first debuted in 2021, represents an evolution in ship design for American Queen, with its cutting-edge X-Bow design (which helps reduce fuel burn) and chic suites, including many with private verandas.

The Galápagos Islands on Quasar Expeditions’ Evolution

In June, Quasar Expeditions is offering a Galápagos cruise on the 32-passenger Evolution for children with autism spectrum disorder, hosted by an expert in supporting families with special needs. The trip, which departs June 24, is a seven-night expedition that takes in many of the most notable sites on the islands, with programming specially tailored for both kids and adults.

Cruising Antarctica on Silver Cloud or Silver Endeavour

Adrian Wolodarczyk/Courtesy of Silversea

Silversea gives Antarctica travelers the option to skip two days of sailing the often-rocky Drake Passage. Instead, they can fly in comfort over the waters separating South America from the continent, then hop aboard the 127-suite Silver Cloud and 100-suite Silver Endeavour for trips along the frosty coastline.

The Caribbean, South Pacific, and Australia With Windstar Cruises

Windstar has a series of 2023 itineraries on the 156-cabin Star Pride and 171-suite Wind Surf that hit yachty Caribbean ports like Jost Van Dyke, in the British Virgin Islands, and Anguilla. The small-ship line, which is known for both its sleek “Star Plus Class” ships and its classic vessels with their dramatic sails, also has an array of itineraries along the coast of Australia and in the South Pacific.

Cold-weather Cruises on Le Commandant Charcot

A game changer in lowering emissions, Ponant’s brand-new hybrid-electric Le Commandant Charcot can operate on less-carbon-intensive battery power and liquefied natural gas and has room for 245 guests. The game-changing ship, which has already hosted eclipse watchers on a trip to Antarctica and sailed to the geographic North Pole, also offers adventures in places such as Iceland and Svalbard.

Cruises Closer to Home With American Queen Voyages

Michel Verdure/Courtesy of American Queen Voyages

American Queen Voyages will offer the longest trips in the line’s history in 2023, with two 23-day river itineraries on the Mississippi and Ohio aboard the 123-stateroom American Countess . “The ship will sail more than 1,700 miles from Minnesota down the Ohio River and Upper Mississippi River , calling on more ports and offering more guided tours than ever before,” as T+L reported in August .

The South Pacific on Paul Gauguin

Just refurbished, the 165-cabin Paul Gauguin will be exploring the Pacific in 2023, with trips to the Cook Islands, Fiji, the Marquesas, and the Society Islands. The single-vessel brand was voted the very best small-ship cruise line in the World’s Best Awards 2022 , as T+L readers gave particularly high marks to the Paul Gauguin ’s on-board staff.

Mystery Cruising With Uniworld

Courtesy of Uniworld

Next year, Uniworld Boutique River Cruises will offer two nine-night “mystery cruises ,” with the European destinations revealed only as guests depart: similar trips in 2022 sold out. Travelers on the June 2023 trip will meet in Amsterdam, while the July 2023 sailing rendezvous in Nice, France — from there, the itinerary is anybody’s guess.

Expedition Cruising With Seabourn

Courtesy of Seabourn

Seabourn Venture , the luxury line’s first 132-suite expedition ship, launched in late summer with itineraries in northern Europe; trips in Japan, the South Pacific, and Antarctica are on tap for 2023. Seabourn Pursuit , which will be a sibling ship to Venture, is scheduled to arrive in 2023, the second in Seabourn’s growing expedition fleet.

Seeing Europe’s Gems by Small Ship

Slated to launch in the spring, the 228-passenger Scenic Eclipse II will visit ports from Dublin to Lisbon, as well as both polar regions, in 2023 and 2024. The innovative vessel, which is similar in design to Scenic Eclipse , will have luxurious suites complete with butler service and all sorts of extras, including helicopters (plural) and a submarine.

Visiting Wild Places With Fewer Impacts

Aurora Expeditions, whose newest vessel is the 71-cabin Sylvia Earle , guarantees that all operations are carbon neutral, pledging to offset all emissions. The newly launched ship, with its fuel-saving X-Bow design, doesn’t skimp on expedition necessities: guests on Antarctica expeditions can explore by Zodiac or snowshoe and even, when conditions allow, go scuba diving in polar waters or camping on the ice.

Solo Cruising With a New Line

Upstart cruise line Atlas Ocean Voyages offers all-inclusive fares on its two 98-suite vessels, and, in a departure from industry norms, the brand doesn’t charge solo travelers a single supplement. The line’s second ship, World Traveller , launched in November 2022 . It will sail nine-, 10-, 11-, and 12-night round-trips from Ushuaia, Argentina, to Antarctica through March 2023 before heading to the Mediterranean to hit Spain, France, and Portugal.

The Galápagos Islands on Celebrity Flora

Michel Verdure/Courtesy of Celebrity Cruises

Another ship that sails the Galápagos, the Celebrity Flora , has 50 suites, many with large verandas, plus a stargazing deck and a fleet of comfortable tenders. Two itineraries are available, the first of which is a seven-night “northern loop” that visits the volcanic island of Santiago and has guests spotting red-footed Boobies on Genovesa Island, a place sometimes called Bird Island thanks to its famed animals. The line’s “outer loop” also includes plenty of wildlife watching, plus a stop at the less-frequented Daphne Island.

Doing Wine Country on Seadream II

SeaDream Yacht Club has two Wine Voyages in 2023, which include vineyard visits in Greece, Italy, and Spain and a winemaker-hosted dinner on the 112-guest Seadream II . The highly regarded intimate-ship line wins frequent accolades from T+L readers for its on-board service and well-appointed vessels.

The 6 best 2023 cruise itineraries to book right now

Ashley Kosciolek

How does a cruise to Arabia sound? Or what about the longest U.S. river cruise ever to set sail? With ships traveling all over the globe, it can be difficult to choose the destination that's right for you, especially when there are so many bucket list-worthy options.

That's why I've rounded up some of 2023's most exciting itineraries. From interesting new routes to tried-and-true ones that now have new ships, this list will prime your sense of wanderlust for both far-flung destinations and places close to home as we head into the new year. Prepare to be inspired.

Japan on Ponant's Le Soleal

best caribbean cruises for 2023

After nearly three years of shutdowns and restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Japan finally reopened to travelers in November 2022. That includes cruise passengers, and several lines — including Holland America Line and Celebrity Cruises (which is offering special "Spice Route" voyages that include Japan) — are returning.

However, the most exciting Japan itineraries I've spotted for 2023 are a couple of routes offered by Ponant 's Le Soleal. Not only is the line the first expedition ship to take passengers to Japan's southern islands, but its itineraries are also Japan-focused routes that don't include other countries like the ones offered by Holland America and Celebrity.

Details: The first route is an eight-day voyage, March 24-31, 2023, offering visits to traditional villages of the Okinawa archipelago and the Ryukyu Islands, as well as Ishigaki and Kume. Prices start at $6,000 per person for an ocean-view cabin.

The second route is an eight-day sailing from Osaka to Fukuoka, May 15-22, 2023, taking passengers to stops in the Seto Inland Sea, the oldest sea route in Japan. Fares start from $7,310 per person for an ocean-view room. More information on Ponant's Asia voyages can be found on the line's website .

West Africa on Hurtigruten's Spitsbergen

best caribbean cruises for 2023

In a first for Hurtigruten , the line is offering a selection of sailings around the west coast of Africa, including the islands of Cape Verde and Guinea-Bissau's Bissagos Islands, which are made up of more than 80 beachy islands and islets, only about 20 of which are populated year-round.

Cape Verde voyages are rare, making this ideal for anyone wishing to check the country off their bucket list. Plus, with Hurtigruten's rapid expansion beyond its traditional Norway offerings and into expedition cruising, you can be one of the first to try out this first-for-the-line itinerary, which will be available four times in late 2023 (and into early 2024), departing from Dakar, Senegal.

Details: These 13-day sailings on Hurtigruten's Spitsbergen depart from Dakar in November and December 2023 and January 2024. Prices start at $5,974 per person for an inside cabin. More information can be found on Hurtigruten Expeditions' website .

Ohio and Mississippi Rivers on American Queen Voyages' American Countess

best caribbean cruises for 2023

It's no secret that American Queen Voyages has been sailing U.S. rivers for years. But what makes this particular itinerary special is that it will be the line's longest ever. The 23-day cruises , which include travel on both the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers, will be offered on the line's newest ship, the 245-passenger American Countess .

The vessel will feature stops in some of America's most notable small towns, including La Crosse, Wisconsin; Dubuque, Bettendorf and Burlington, Iowa; Hannibal, St. Louis, Kimmswick and Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Paducah, Henderson, Owensboro, Brandenburg, Louisville and Maysville, Kentucky; Madison, Indiana; Point Pleasant, West Virginia; and Cincinnati and Marietta, Ohio.

Details: The first voyage is set to begin in Red Wing, Minnesota (near Minneapolis), on July 24, 2023, and end in Pittsburgh on Aug. 15, 2023. The reverse itinerary will begin on Aug. 15, 2023, when the ship reaches Pittsburgh. Prices start from $10,599 per person for an inside cabin. You can find more details on the line's website .

The Middle East on Windstar's Star Legend

best caribbean cruises for 2023

If you're looking for a cruise destination that's a bit more far-flung, Windstar Cruises is offering Red Sea and Persian Gulf sailings in the Middle East — a first for the line, which will sail its newly stretched Star Legend in the region, beginning in fall 2023.

The line will offer four different itineraries, but my favorite is the 10-day Persian Gulf option from Dubai to Muscat, Oman, which includes calls on places like Ras Al-Khaimah and Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates and Khasab, Oman. The ship will also visit the UAE's island of Sir Bani Yas, which is known for nature and wildlife conservation. The sailings include overnights in Doha and Abu Dhabi, too.

Details: This itinerary is offered 11 times, beginning in November 2023 and running into early 2024. Fares start from $3,499 per person for ocean-view accommodations.

Caribbean and Bahamas on MSC Meraviglia and Carnival Venezia from NYC

best caribbean cruises for 2023

Although Caribbean and Bahamas itineraries aren't a new thing from New York, two cruise lines will have a new presence there starting in 2023: Carnival Cruise Line with Carnival Venezia, which will begin sailing from Manhattan in June, and MSC Cruises with MSC Meraviglia, which will be based at Brooklyn's Red Hook terminal beginning in April.

The itineraries are fairly standard at first glance, but what's key here is that, for the first time, the lines' private islands — in this case, Carnival's Half Moon Cay and MSC's Ocean Cay Marine Reserve — will be accessible via sailings traveling round-trip from New York.

Details: Between April and December 2023, MSC Meraviglia is offering 11 seven-night sailings calling on Port Canaveral (near Orlando), and Nassau and Ocean Cay Marine Reserve, both in the Bahamas. Prices start from $399 per person for an inside cabin. More info can be found on the MSC Cruises website .

From June through December, Carnival Venezia will sail one eight-day Bahamas voyage that includes Nassau, Freeport and Half Moon Cay, with prices starting from $484 per person for an inside cabin. During that time, the vessel is also scheduled to run five eight-day Eastern Caribbean cruises calling on Amber Cove, Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay, with fares starting at $684 per person for an inside cabin. For additional details, visit the Carnival website .

Australia/New Zealand on Disney Wonder and Virgin Voyages' Resilient Lady

best caribbean cruises for 2023

With Australia and New Zealand finally picking up steam again post-shutdown, it's not surprising that some cruise lines are sending ships to the region for the first time in 2023. Beginning in November, Disney Cruise Line 's Disney Wonder will sail 14 two- to six-night voyages from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne — calling on places like Hobart and Eden in Australia; Auckland, New Zealand; and Noumea, New Caledonia — through the end of the year, offering Disney fans another option in terms of destination.

Plus, starting in December 2023, Virgin Voyages ' brand-new Resilient Lady will offer five two- to 14-night sailings from Melbourne, providing locals with a more modern ship. (It's rare for the Australian market to see brand-new vessels.) Voyages include stops in Hobart, Burnie or both Tasmanian ports. On the two-week sailing, ports also include Sydney, as well as Picton, Napier, Tauranga and Auckland in New Zealand.

Details: Disney Wonder's per-person fares for inside cabins start at $946 for two nights, $1,604 for three nights, $2,000 for four nights, $2,118 for five nights and $4,078 for six nights. For more information, visit the Disney Cruise Line website .

Virgin Voyages' per-person prices for interior accommodations start from $245 for two nights, $613 for five nights, $753 for six nights and $2,240 for 14 nights. Check out the Virgin Voyages website for more details on these cruises.

ROYAL CARIBBEAN CRUISE 2024-26 GUIDE

When it comes to planning the ultimate getaway, there are so many reasons why cruise vacations rank among the most popular travel options. First of all, they’re completely stress-free. On a cruise vacation, all the planning is taken care of by the cruise line — from the  destinations  you sail to and the  shore excursions  available at each port, to a full range of  entertainment  and activities happening onboard every day. If you’re not a planner, or if the only things you’re looking to focus on during your getaway is savoring great food, relaxing, and soaking up the sights, cruise vacations are the way to go. A cruise vacation is also a great option if you’re traveling with the whole family, especially when you opt for a Royal Caribbean cruise. All of the ships in this cruise line’s fleet offer family-friendly experiences for guests of all ages. Even little ones will find plenty of ways to play with spaces and activities designed for tots to tweens. One of the top reasons savvy travelers love cruising, though, is because of the incredible value it offers. With Royal Caribbean, your cruise fare includes access to most of the ship’s attractions, select dining venues and all of the entertainment onboard. If you want to make your  experience  even more all-inclusive, you can opt for  beverage  and  specialty dining  packages that cover drinks and dinner at some of the most exclusive restaurants in the fleet. On top of all that, the cruise line presents frequent limited-time offers and seasonal sales, making it easy to score big savings when booking your vacation.

The 2023 Cruise Itineraries to Book Before They Sell Out

Aerial View of Kotor bay. Cruise ship docked in beautiful summer day.

Cruising is a mode of travel where it pays to plan ahead. In fact, it's not uncommon for enthusiastic cruisers to book voyages a year or two in advance. It also means that the most interesting itineraries on the best ships sell out fast and well before they shove off—and that now is prime time to start planning cruises for 2023. Here are the most exciting cruise itineraries to book for next year.

All products featured on Condé Nast Traveler are independently selected by our editors. However, when you buy something through our retail links, we may earn an affiliate commission.

Seabourn Pursuit

Next spring, Seabourn is slated to debut its second expedition ship, Seabourn Pursuit . Like the line’s first expedition vessel, Venture , which will begin sailing in 2022, sister ship Pursuit is also a polar-class ship, stocked with two submarines, 24 Zodiac boats, and plenty of knowledgeable expedition crew. Each of the 132 all-suite staterooms come with a veranda and walk-in closets. Pursuit ’s inaugural sailing is scheduled for March 2023: a 26-day sojourn through Scotland, Greenland , and Iceland. In August 2023, Seabourn will take the Pursuit through the Northwest Passage “through some of the most remote areas in the Northern Hemisphere from Kangerlussuaq, Greenland to Nome, Alaska.”

Regent Grandeur

There’s no doubt that all 750 passengers on board Regent’s latest decadent ship Seven Seas Grandeur will be pampered, with all staterooms being suites that feature verandas and vast marble bathrooms. But those staying in the $11,000 per night, 4,443 square-foot Regent Suite will feel especially indulged. The top-tier suite, which—like on sister ship Seven Seas Explorer —has its own in-room spa area with a personal sauna, steam room, and treatment room for unlimited complimentary spa services for the duration of the voyage. The mega-suite also has a 1,227 square-foot wraparound veranda over the ship’s bow, offering 270-degree sea views. Elsewhere aboard, fans of Regent will recognize the line’s beloved specialty restaurants, including steakhouse Prime 7 and Chartreuse for upscale French cuisine. Grandeur ’s inaugural sailing will launch in November 2023 with itineraries through the Caribbean, featuring ports of call in Honduras, Mexico, and Belize. In early 2024, a transatlantic crossing is available to book as Grandeur repositions for itineraries around the Mediterranean and Europe.

MSC Seascape

When it launches in December 2022, Seascape will be one of MSC’s longest ships to date (tied with MSC Seashore ), with a total length of 1,112 feet. That means there’ll be no shortage of places where passengers can relax, from the redesigned Aurea Spa, which offers a full menu of Balinese massages, to 139,930 square feet of outdoor space. The ship will have 11 categories of staterooms, including 50 terraced suites with extended balconies and 32 suites with outdoor private whirlpools. Travelers who prefer a more exclusive experience might be interested in the MSC Yacht Club, a premium all-inclusive “ship within a ship” concept that affords 24-hour private butler service. For its inaugural season, the ship will be based in the Caribbean, with voyages calling upon The Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Cayman Islands, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica.

Scenic Eclipse II

How about combining adventure cruising with six-star service? Scenic already offers that mix aboard its expedition yacht Scenic Eclipse . Next year, the line will be unveiling its second such vessel, Scenic Eclipse II . The new iteration will also come stocked with two helicopters and an onboard submarine that seats eight guests and can submerge up to 650 feet. The marina deck is equipped with Zodiac boats, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards, while a GPS Dynamic Positioning, equipment that allows the ship to anchor without actually dropping anchor, means a smaller ecological footprint at ports of call. Inside each stateroom, there’s no shortage of luxury either. Expect a personal butler, pillow menu, Egyptian cotton sheets, king-size bed, private veranda, and a mini-bar provisioned to your preferences.

Canary Islands and Dakar with Hurtigruten

On this 15-day voyage, which departs in October 2023, expedition line Hurtigruten promises travelers will “discover majestic volcanoes, diverse habitats, stunning coastal scenery, and cultural highlights.”

Beginning in Lisbon, Portugal, the itinerary calls upon the lush Madeira Islands, with several stops in the volcanic Canary Islands, before ending in Dakar, Senegal, where travelers will be whisked away on a guided tour of the capital city before flying home.

An ‘Ultimate France’ cruise with Uniworld

Sail three of France’s most scenic rivers—the Rhone, Seine, and Gargonne—in one ultimate trip with this in-depth, 22-day Uniworld cruise through the best of France. Travelers will be immersed in the country’s charming villages throughout its most popular regions, including Burgundy, Bordeaux, Provence, Paris , and Normandy. Transfers to the different rivers will be made via the TGV bullet train, one of the fastest trains in the world . Along with vineyards and city tours, cruise passengers will have access to landmarks like Giverny, home to Monet’s studio, the Palace of Versailles, and Normandy’s beaches where the D-Day landings took place.

Lower Alaska's highlights with Princess Cruises

With Alaska cruises bouncing back this year, sailings through the Last Frontier have been booking up quickly. So if a voyage through Alaska is on your list for 2023, you’ll want to lock it in now. Consider this five-day, family-friendly option from West Coast-based Princess. Sailing round-trip from Vancouver , the itinerary heads to Juneau, where travelers can partake in shore activities like an Alaskan salmon bake, sea kayaking, or tours of the Mendenhall Glacier. The next stop is Ketchikan, where highlights include Misty Fjords National Monument and the Alaska Rainforest Reserve, home to seals, bald eagles, and black bears.

The Middle East with Emerald Cruises

Emerald Cruises’ latest vessel is so boutique and intimate that it’s more accurately described as a yacht. Accommodating just 100 guests, the luxe Emerald Azzurra will debut in 2023 out of a new cruise terminal in Qatar . Itineraries will set out from Doha, on seven-night, eight-day voyages that stop at Sir Bani Yas Island, Abu Dhabi; Khasab, Oman; Fujairah, UAE; Zighy Bay, Oman; and Dubai .

Repositioning itineraries with Virgin Voyages

Resilient Lady , the yet-to-debut ship from adults-only line Virgin Voyages , is scheduled to be repositioned next year in Australia. On its way Down Under, the ship will be offering three unique itineraries throughout Europe, the Middle East, and the South Pacific. The first repositioning voyage will sail in October 2023 out of Athens with stops in Santorini and Rhodes in Greece, through the Suez Canal to Port Said (Cairo) and Safaga in Egypt and on to Dubai. Other offerings include Dubai to Singapore by way of Mumbai, Phuket, and Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore to Sydney with calls in Bali , as well as Cairns and Queensland in Australia.

Regent Seven Seas will sail from New York to Barcelona in 2023

Grand voyages with Regent Seven Seas

If a more in-depth cruise is more your style, look no further than Regent’s grand voyages, which are months-long itineraries that explore entire regions of the world. In 2023, we have our eye on the Grand Arctic Adventure, a 78-night voyage from New York to Barcelona with a dreamy list of ports. The itinerary starts by weaving its way along the coasts of Massachusetts, Maine, and Nova Scotia, Canada, then on to Greenland , Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Ireland, Wales, England, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Estonia, Scotland, Portugal, and Spain.

Morocco and a circumnavigation of Sicily with Ponant

Small ship expedition line Ponant recently announced its lineup for 2023 cruises in collaboration with Smithsonian Journeys. The voyages bring experts in history and culture on board for lectures and to guide guests through onshore excursions. For instance, a voyage from Morocco to Spain offers stops in Casablanca, Tangier, and Granada, interweaved with talks by Alia Kate, North African international relations expert and founder of Kantara , a fair-trade design business specializing in Moroccan rugs woven by women’s weaving cooperatives, as well as Rafael Chacon, an art historian who has walked the Camino de Santiago twice. Another itinerary, a circumnavigation of Sicily , takes passengers to Greek ruins in Agrigento and Byzantine-Arab mosaics in Palermo; guests are joined by archeologist Albert Leonard, who has directed excavations at sites around the Mediterranean.

Investing in royal caribbean cruises (nyse:rcl) three years ago would have delivered you a 99% gain.

By buying an index fund, investors can approximate the average market return. But if you choose individual stocks with prowess, you can make superior returns. Just take a look at Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. ( NYSE:RCL ), which is up 99%, over three years, soundly beating the market return of 13% (not including dividends). On the other hand, the returns haven't been quite so good recently, with shareholders up just 66%.

Now it's worth having a look at the company's fundamentals too, because that will help us determine if the long term shareholder return has matched the performance of the underlying business.

Check out our latest analysis for Royal Caribbean Cruises

To paraphrase Benjamin Graham: Over the short term the market is a voting machine, but over the long term it's a weighing machine. By comparing earnings per share (EPS) and share price changes over time, we can get a feel for how investor attitudes to a company have morphed over time.

Royal Caribbean Cruises became profitable within the last three years. That would generally be considered a positive, so we'd expect the share price to be up.

You can see below how EPS has changed over time (discover the exact values by clicking on the image).

It's probably worth noting we've seen significant insider buying in the last quarter, which we consider a positive. That said, we think earnings and revenue growth trends are even more important factors to consider. This free interactive report on Royal Caribbean Cruises' earnings, revenue and cash flow is a great place to start, if you want to investigate the stock further.

A Different Perspective

It's good to see that Royal Caribbean Cruises has rewarded shareholders with a total shareholder return of 66% in the last twelve months. That's including the dividend. That's better than the annualised return of 10% over half a decade, implying that the company is doing better recently. Given the share price momentum remains strong, it might be worth taking a closer look at the stock, lest you miss an opportunity. I find it very interesting to look at share price over the long term as a proxy for business performance. But to truly gain insight, we need to consider other information, too. For instance, we've identified 3 warning signs for Royal Caribbean Cruises (1 is a bit concerning) that you should be aware of.

Royal Caribbean Cruises is not the only stock that insiders are buying. For those who like to find lesser know companies this free list of growing companies with recent insider purchasing, could be just the ticket.

25 Phenomenal All-Inclusive Resorts In The Caribbean

The world knows just how breathtaking the Caribbean is. It’s a tropical paradise with some of the best beaches and clearest waters. So, if you’re looking for the best all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, we are here to make your life easier.

Let me add just a few words about what makes an all-inclusive so great. And trust me — once you go to an all-inclusive luxury resort — you will never want to go back to a regular hotel ever again (where you are nickel-and-dimed for everything, even that simple bottled water). Here’s why: At an all-inclusive resort, you pay one price, upfront for everything. All your meals. All your snacks. All your spirits (which are typically top-shelf.) All your beverages. It’s all unlimited . So when you want that special cafe latte or fruit smoothie at 3PM every afternoon, you are not going to be charged the typical $4.50. At dinner, you will not receive a check and have to worry about the bill (and your budget) and even the tip . Your favorite cocktails are included — so GO ahead — indulge in that econd pina colada. You may even order two desserts for yourself. An all-inclusive resort is the ultimate in convenience: After you arrive, just put your wallet in the hotel safe, forget about it, and have the time of your life — after all, it’s your honeymoon! To put it quite simply, you can check in, check out one or two weeks later — and your folio will have a zero balance! One thing is for sure — at an all-inclusive honeymoon resort, you will NOT be sitting on the beach worrying about budgeting!

Honeymooners and couples, in particular, won’t go wrong with any kind of all-inclusive Caribbean getaway. Each of the region’s islands also boasts natural beauty and unique culture that will make your honeymoon heavenly. From the pristine shores of Jamaica to the lush landscapes of Saint Lucia, this side of the world covers a wide array of preferences.

Discover the best gems in the Caribbean with this selection of the best properties that offer an unforgettable all-inclusive experience.

Sandals Royal Caribbean

Montego Bay , Jamaica

Key Highlights

Hailed as one of the best all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, Sandals Royal Caribbean is the epitome of romantic allure. The main resort is set on a smaller scalloped cove beach — and another interesting feature is its private offshore island. This takes intimacy and seclusion to a higher notch. Adjacent to the offshore island are a collection of overwater villas and bungalows , where you will be two very-well-cared-for castaways. Here, honeymooning couples (who arrive within 30 days of their wedding date) receive a special Honeymoon package as well — chilled sparkling wine, flower petals on your bed (which are totally Instagrammable), and an oh-so-decadent delicious breakfast in bed on the morning of your choice! What a wonderful wake-up call!

The full exchange privileges with the nearby Sandals Montego Bay make your stay even more worth it, especially in terms of additional dining options. Complimentary shuttle rides are already covered, so it’s utterly convenient to access.

Sonesta Ocean Point Resort

Maho Bay, Sint Maarten

Chic and sustainable, the award-winning Sonesta Ocean Point Resort is a modern haven imbued with that signature Caribbean aesthetic. It’s known as a “resort within a resort,” comprising 130 well-appointed suites, an array of pools, dining experiences, a fitness center, and more.  You will love the signature Azul Restaurant, the new Italian restaurant, Portofino, and the new healthy, poké-inspired Bluefin Restaurant + Bar. Also enjoy the Ocean Point fitness center that has stunning panoramic views of Maho Bay.

Their vibrant all-inclusive entertainment program goes beyond what’s usual. The ritzy resort offers live music, wellness programs, and the island’s largest gaming emporium, Casino Royale — all made to create the most sophisticated holiday retreat in Sint Maarten .

Booking your stay here also means getting granted access to the adjacent family resort, Sonesta Maho Beach Resort.

Club Med Turkoise

Grace Bay, Turks & Caicos Islands (TCI)

I stayed at a Club Med in Cancun a few years ago — and to this day, I yearn to return! The service, the cuisine, the accommodations, the beach, the pool — they were all stunning — not to mention the nightly entertainment. Here, in Turks & Caicos, the stunning Grace Bay is home to the adult-exclusive paradise of Club Med Turkoise. If you want to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life, this is your ultimate destination in Turks & Caicos Islands . The area boasts some of the best wall-diving locations in the world. Here, you can also set sail on turquoise waters or simply soak up the sun — with cocktails in hand. Located in Grace Bay of Providenciales and superbly situated on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Resort Club Med Turkoise offers delicious gourmet cuisine, infinity pool, and comfortable rooms with a blue view that are ideal for curling up and cuddling together.

After savoring all these experiences (and their delectable gourmet cuisine), retreat to one of the comfortable rooms you can call home-away-from-home in the Caribbean.

Divi Carina Bay

St Croix, US Virgin Islands

This oasis in Carina Bay is newly renovated, and it’s a strong contender if you want to have a quiet and secluded romantic trip on the US Virgin Islands. The honeymoon haven has a Zen-like environment tailored for relaxation. And there’s no place like “om!”

Alongside its redesigned rooms and suites, it takes pride in its mix of amenities for your rejuvenation or enjoyment. The oceanfront property includes two freshwater pools, tennis and pickleball courts, a shuffleboard, a fitness center, and even a casino.

Come daytime, you can participate in various daytime activities such as pickleball, miniature golf, the gym, shuffleboard, and non-motorized water sports at the resort. However, unlike other resorts, it has limited evening entertainment to maintain a serene ambiance.

When traveling to the U.S. Virgin Islands, U.S. Citizens enjoy all the conveniences of domestic travel – including online check-in – making travel to St. Croix easier than ever. As a U.S. territory, travel to St. Croix does not require a passport for U.S. citizens arriving from Puerto Rico, the U.S. mainland, or St. Thomas and St. John. Please ensure you carry a valid picture I.D., such as a U.S. driver’s license, as you will need this to get through security from your departing airport.

Sandals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Buccament Bay, St. Vincent & Grenadines

Looking for a new property that can well contend as one of the best all-inclusive Caribbean resorts for couples? Sandals’ latest addition to its portfolio of beachfront havens is something you must consider. The dreamy new resort was two years’ in the making, and it is sure to imbue you with a sense of magic and wonder. The locals lovingly call it, “Vincy.”

Sandals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines sits on a private cove where a verdant forest meets azure waters at the edge of the lesser Antilles region. Among its accommodations are stunning two-story overwater villas and beachfront butler villas.  The resort also boasts 12 all-inclusive dining concepts, featuring dock-to-dish upscale seafood and healthy grab-and-go options showcasing the island’s natural bounty. But wait — there’s more:

  • Breakfast, lunch, dinner and anytime snacks
  • Unlimited premium liquors
  • 5 bars, including swim-up bar
  • Stocked bar in every room
  • Unlimited Robert Mondavi Twin Oaks ®  Wines

Working together with local farmers and talented chefs, the food that is served at Sandals  all-inclusive resorts  is designed to present local produce in the best light. It’s a dynamic difference you can taste!

You will also enjoy the beautiful Red Lane spa (where I have had many a posh pampering, including having my hair and makeup done in the salon, thanks to Sandals’ complimentary 20-minute professional photo shoot). You’ll also love the Tranquility Blissful Beds with their high-end Egyptian cotton sheets, and you can even play round-after-round of unlimited golf when you’re not luxuriating in the water. That certainly hits the sweet spot, don’t you think?

For your adventure, you can hike through lush rainforests to gaze upon the crater atop La Soufrière or admire ancient petroglyphs. And remember, at all Sandals resorts, all of your tips, taxes and gratuities are included. When you check out, unless you have taken advantage of some upgradable options (such as a visit to the spa), your folio will be at ZERO . Sounds great, right?

The Aerial BVI

Buck Island, Aerial, British Virgin Islands

The British Virgin Islands is one of the best destinations if you love sailing. If you and your partner want a romantic honeymoon getaway with water adventures, consider The Aerial as your base.

This is an exclusive island where nature’s unparalleled beauty takes center stage. Additionally, you’ll have access to a private beach, spa treatments (which use only natural, vegan, and organic ingredients), equine therapy, a saltwater infinity pool, a very unique beach gym, miles of hiking trails, and accommodating concierge services. This all-inclusive stay includes private transportation to and from the airport, food and drink prepared by the private chef, all island and beach activities, its unique Redemption Ranch experience, and countless wellness activities and therapies.

When not wading through azure waters with various watersport activities, nourish your well-being through nutritious food, meditation, and creative classes.

The Club Barbados Resort & Spa

Holetown, Barbados

This award-winning tropical island resort will exceed all your preconceived notions of what luxury looks, smells, tastes, feels, and sounds like. This all-inclusive, adults-only oasis is on the idyllic west coast of the Caribbean. With more than 70 miles of pristine coastline, you and your better half will surely enjoy this aquatic wonderland. The resort offers complimentary watersports, including sailing, kayaking, and snorkeling.

A resort that will surely tickle your senses offers the convenience of all-inclusive dining (complete with daily breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and afternoon tea). You can also quench your thirst with unlimited signature cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages.

It doesn’t get much better than this. Aptly named for its close proximity to the ocean, the resort’s One-Bedroom Oceanfront Suites feature a spacious bedroom and separate living area with sweeping views of the Caribbean Sea. Relax as you breathe in the sights and sounds of the Caribbean from your private open-air balcony or oceanfront patio.

During the day, take guided nature walks, go on fishing excursions, embark on rum tastings, or enjoy some retail therapy . Evenings come alive with live music, island-themed performances, DJs, karaoke, fire dancers, stilt walkers, and beach parties. With all this, The Club Barbados definitely lives up to its name.

Keyonna Beach Resort

Turner’s Beach, Antigua & Barbuda

Designed for couples like you, Keyonna is a boutique, “barefoot-luxury” resort that offers a tranquil escape. Instead of large concrete room blocks you will find private, stand-alone cottages all constructed entirely of wood, wattle and other indigenous materials. The only corridors here are outdoor pathways that take you through rich, colorful gardens down to the beach. Your balcony includes a traditional West Indian hammock, comfy deck chairs and even a private pool with loungers and shade depending on the room category you book. You can choose to have your room air-conditioned or opt for natural air cooling by opening your windows and French doors. All your in-room décor is natural and fresh, from the hand-crafted wooden furniture to the live floral arrangements that are replenished each day. And best of all you get to shower outdoors amongst a collection of tropical plants with a wonderful ocean view.

And there are no TVs or radios, so that you can fully escape and just focus on each other.

Why not plan an unforgettable dining experience under the stars? The setting is a private cabana by the beach, complete with a dedicated butler and luxurious menus. They also got you covered if you want to make your stay adventure-filled. Your nightly rates already include complimentary kayaks with paddles, life jackets, free snorkel masks, and fins for underwater exploration.

Sandals Grenada

Pink Gin Beach, Grenada

Sandals Grenada — the “Spice Island” — is one of the most innovative all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean. This luxurious retreat has many interesting features, a standout property in the exclusive Pink Gin Beach. These include Skypool Butler Suites with a private pool off the bedroom and a dramatic oceanside pool , complete with a sunken living room and firepit. I’ve stayed at this property — and made some magical memories with my husband Bill. The butlers, for example, are professionally trained, and are always on their “A-game” to make sure you are having the best time ever. For example, should your spouse say she’s never had a coconut drink — the butler will surprise her with one and make it into a memorable “wow moment.”

Here, scuba diving is included in the Sandals package.  Every day the resort offers two dives. You can come here and take a course and be certified in a day. Grenada is known for its diving sites that are close to shore.

And why not try this? Have appetizers at one restaurant, dinner at another — and dessert at yet another. That’s a really fun way to enjoy the excellent, all-inclusive, unlimited cuisine here. And here’s what we always do in Grenada: Enjoy a hot, fresh, oh-so-Parisian Nutella crepe in the Cafe de Paris. It’s the next-best-thing to a walk on the Champs-Elysees!

Best of all, because Sandals is all-inclusive, you can actually check in here, and check out two weeks later, and your folio will have a zero balance (provided you don’t take advantage of upgraded amenities such as spa treatments, for example).

Sandals Grenada boasts the shortest airport transfer among all Sandals resorts, allowing you and your sweetheart to start your romantic holiday more conveniently. As epic as the culinary adventure you can enjoy with its array of 10 restaurants, this resort also offers unforgettable excursions. If you’re both into diving and snorkeling, you will be thrilled to prebook the one-of-a-kind Underwater Sculpture Park tour at a 10% discount.

Found on the island’s southwestern coastline, Jade Mountain Resort is a unique property to book for your upcoming romantic holiday. It overlooks the breathtaking Anse Chastanet beachfront and showcases a unique blend of organic architecture that harmonizes with St. Lucia’s natural beauty — specifically that of the Pitons World Heritage Site.

The ravishing resort is a cornucopia of organic architecture celebrating St. Lucia’s stunning scenic beauty.

Architect owner Nick Troubetzkoy has expanded upon his philosophy of building in harmony with Caribbean nature in his creation of Jade Mountain St. Lucia. The bold architectural design – individual bridges leading to exceptional infinity pool sanctuaries and rugged stoned-faced columns reaching towards the sky – makes Jade Mountain St. Lucia one of the Caribbean’s most mesmerizing resort experiences.

Expect grand sweeping spaces where bedroom, living area and an extravagant private infinity pool glide into one another to form extraordinary platforms floating out into nature. These include restaurants, bars, boutiques, an art gallery, a spa, and watersports facilities — plus two soft sand beaches easily accessible by foot or resort shuttle.

It is also the first Caribbean resort to earn LEED Gold! Attaining Gold certification  denotes that a building has excelled in its sustainable design and operation, securing over 60% of the LEED points . Sandals Dunn’s River

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

The recently revamped Sandals Dunn’s River promises a unique Caribbean all-inclusive, adults-only experience. Embracing the true essence of Jamaica and the island’s awe-inspiring natural beauty , this is a sexy slice of paradise surrounded by magnificent trees, tropical flora, and a pristine stretch of white sand beach.

You’re in for an extraordinary and new Sandals experience with the recently opened and completely reimagined Sandals Dunn’s River . Beloved Sandals Resorts founder and Father of Caribbean Hospitality, Gordon “Butch” Stewart spent his childhood on the sands and shores of Ocho Rios, riding the waves that frame Sandals Dunn’s River. Today, this resort has reopened as a storied escape and wholly conceptualized to be the best, and it is the pinnacle of Sandals luxury in Jamaica. In fact, it is the last project that Sandals Resorts Executive Chairman Adam Stewart collaborated on with his father Butch. You will see the distinction from the moment you arrive — and you can even smell it! — as Sandals has crafted its own custom-made luxury scent — a mix of white florals and sandalwood — which is spritzed in the lobby, to evoke the romance, flora and fauna of the Caribbean.

The resort lets nature’s beauty surround you: It’s in the heart of Ocho Rios, along one of the best stretches of beach in town. The resort’s design draws inspiration from the island country’s majestic waterfalls, meandering rivers, and lush forests.

Luxurious rooms and suites seamlessly blend with the surrounding’s relaxing appeal. In this Sandals property, you can stay at innovative accommodation options, including the brand’s first-ever Sky Villa Rondoval Suites and the island’s first-every Skypool Suites. In the former, you’ll have rooftop hideaways offering sexy seclusion; in the latter, you’ll enjoy your own infinite-edge sky-high plunge pool.

Also, when you book at a Sky Villa Rondoval Suite, there’s a complimentary rooftop picnic under the stars (Ain’t that sweet?) This package also lets you explore cosmic wonders via telescope — plus, you’ll also receive a personalized star map as a unique souvenir.

Other exciting amenities that you can check out with your partner are their rooftop fitness center and aerobics studio. If you want to stay fit and social, you can also visit their open-sided yoga pavilion and meet fellow honeymooners who are also there for a romantic escape.

When you wish to soak up the fun at the Caribbean Sea, you have various water sports to choose from. The best thing about it is that these activities include professional instruction.

Like Sandals Ochi, the resort also covers greens fees and transfers to Upton Estate Golf & Country Club. And if you want to indulge in more amenities besides this premier golf hub, leverage the Stay at 1, Play at 2 program and access the best of Sandals Ochi’s features.  The Upton Estate Golf and Country Club, for example, is a scenic 18-hole course that rises 700 feet above sea level in the lush hills of Ocho Rios.

From the initial 12 gourmet restaurants and nine bars (including Jamaica’s first rooftop bar) at Sandals Dunn’s River, you can taste more at its sister resort’s 16 restaurants and 11 bars.

Don’t miss Dunn’s Rum Club — a sultry spot that serves more than 30 high-quality rum varieties — the largest collection in any Sandals resort. The classic Espresso Martini served here, for instance, uses Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee beans. Small plates and tapas are also served here.

As for optional adventure tours, some popular choices among honeymooners are the Dunn’s River catamaran cruise and the Luminous Lagoon experience. And don’t miss the Red Lane spa, where you will receive silken service and cashmere care from professional therapists and aestheticians offering some of the world’s best spa services. The most popular massage is Raindrop Dreams — a 90-minute treatment ($253) that uses fragrant aromatherapy and seven essential oils. And while you’re at it, make sure to use the amazing sulfate-free Red Lane Spa shampoo and conditioner amenities in your bathroom — these quality well-being products will leave you with nothing but silken strands!

Sandals South Coast

White House, Jamaica

There are a plethora of all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean. And if you’re heading to Jamaica, Sandals South Coast is a 500-acre nature preserve that offers a picture-perfect backdrop for a romantic getaway .

This Jamaican luxury resort follows an “all water, all luxury” ethos. And it means that everything they have here is inspired by water. For example, the recently renovated Dutch Village (one of its four European-inspired villages) now includes swim-up suites. Meanwhile, the South Seas Rondoval Village boasts the brand’s first-ever Swim-Up Rondoval Suites. You can easily swim up to a beautiful Rondoval from where you’re staying. What is a Rondoval, you ask? It’s a circular-shaped dream escape offering plenty of space — not the typical hotel room.

While it has such villages where you can spend intimate days, one hard-to-miss option is its Tahiti-style overwater bungalows . An overwater bungalow is the ultimate escape — where you will be two well-cared-for castaways with easy access right into the stunning and warm waters below — and even a glass floor so you can watch “Fish TV” right below you. An overwater bungalow experience, on your honeymoon, is the thrill — and the splurge — of a lifetime.

When you stay in any of their dozen over-the-water accommodations, you’ll have your own private beach cabana (Only Sandals South Coast has this feature). Apart from these above-the-water structures, the resort also has an overwater chapel and bar.

You can also access a swim-up bar and nine fine-dining restaurants within the main resort. On land, you can try different activities like tennis and pickleball. On the water, you’ll have heaps of fun with watersports like waterskiing, wakeboarding, and tubing, among others.

Have we already mentioned that Sandals South Coast has the largest zero-entry pool in Jamaica? It’s stunning day or night, and you’ll love it here if you want just to lounge and take a break from the seawater but still want to be near a refreshing water setting. Zero-entry pools replace stairs and ladders with a sloped entry, creating a seamless transition between land and water. In a word? Zero-entry pools, like this one, are gorgeous.

At an extra cost, the resort also offers tours and excursions. Try their YS Falls Experience, a journey through untouched waterfalls and lush gardens in the Jamaican countryside, or check out West Coast Land Adventure, which combines ATV rides and ziplining. Have fun!

Hermitage Bay, Antigua

Hermitage Bay, Antigua & Barbuda

A hidden gem worth discovering — this is exactly what Hermitage Bay is. The luxury boutique resort is perched on a hillside overlooking the sparkling and serene Caribbean Sea.

This is a luxury lovenest nestled on the hillside of a hidden, sandy bay, where the scent of fragrant frangipani fills the air, the sound of waves rolling on the shore surrounds you, and experiences designed to restore, ignite, and soothe the soul await you both.

Whether you’re seeking post-nuptial relaxation or embarking on your first adventure as a married couple, this property is the perfect setting to start your new life together. Book one of their beachfront suites, and pamper yourselves with couples’ spa treatments. And the gourmet cuisine? Many of the resort’s ingredients are grown in their very own organic kitchen garden, so you’re guaranteed a true taste of the Caribbean. The menus change daily, but always combine local favorites with classic American dishes and modern European fare. You’ll find plenty of vegan and vegetarian dishes, and the Executive Chef can create bespoke meal plans based on specific dietary requirements or personal fitness goals. Bring on the broccoli! (And the special entree and dessert too.) It’s bound to be some of the most delicious cuisine you’ve ever eaten. The perfect plates are just as inspiring as the beachfront views.

Eager to explore the surroundings? From private boat charters to paddleboarding and scuba diving, various forms of adventure await you and your loved one here.

St. Kitts Marriott Resort & The Royal Beach Casino

Frigate Bay, St. Kitts & Nevis

The upscale hotel boasts a private beach on the stunning island of St. Kitts . You and your loved one can include various activities on your to-do list here.

This upscale oasis sits on its own private beach in St. Kitts with Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport just four miles away. Explore nearby Nevis Island and Basseterre, St. Kitts’ capital city. Partake in exciting activities such as climbing an active volcano or ziplining through a lush forest canopy. When hunger strikes, savor a meal at one of the resort’s seven restaurants, serving an array of cuisines. Golf at the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club or indulge in a therapeutic treatment at the full-service spa.

Engage in thrilling activities, from climbing an active volcano to ziplining through the lush forest canopy. Similarly, satisfy your culinary cravings at seven restaurants offering a variety of cuisines. Play golf at the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club or unwind with a rejuvenating spa treatment. It will be transcendent travel at its best — and all-inclusive, to boot!

Dow Jones industrial average inches up to another record high in mixed trading

Outside the New York Stock Exchange.

The Dow Jones industrial average inched up to another record high on a mixed day of trading for Wall Street.

The Dow eked out a gain of 9 points, or less than 0.1%, while the Standard & Poor’s 500 and the Nasdaq composite both rose 0.2%.

Semiconductor company Nvidia, with a total market value topping $3 trillion, climbed 1.5% a day ahead of the release of its latest financial results on Wednesday. Wall Street’s mania around artificial intelligence has helped propel a 160% gain for the stock this year.

The parent company of the Paramount movie studio slid 7.15% after Edgar Bronfman Jr., the former head of Warner Music Group, abandoned his bid for the company, clearing the way for it to be acquired by the media company Skydance.

Treasury yields held steady in the bond market. The yield on the 10-year Treasury rose to 3.83% from 3.82% late Monday.

The Conference Board, a business research group, said Tuesday that its consumer confidence index rose to 103.3 in August from 101.9 in July. The results were better than economists expected and could help bolster sentiment that consumers remain resilient, despite pressure from inflation.

Consumer spending accounts for nearly 70% of U.S. economic activity. That has been a strong area of the economy, along with the job market.

Best Buy and Dollar General will report their latest results Thursday. That could give investors more insight into where, and how much, consumers are spending.

Most of the companies in the S&P 500 have reported better-than-expected profit so far this reporting season. Several companies rose Tuesday as traders cheered their latest quarterly snapshots.

Hain Celestial Group jumped 17.2% after the company’s fiscal fourth-quarter profit topped Wall Street’s estimates. Trip.com Group climbed 8.8% after its second-quarter earnings beat analysts’ forecasts and the company touted strong travel demand.

Traders also bid up shares in cruise line operators. Royal Caribbean rose 4.2%, Norwegian Cruise Line gained 4.3% and Carnival added 3.6%.

Investors are looking ahead to Friday, when the government releases its latest data on inflation with the PCE, or personal consumption expenditures index, for July. It’s the preferred measure of inflation for the Federal Reserve, which has signaled that long-awaited interest rate cuts are coming.

Inflation has been falling steadily over the last two years after the central bank raised its benchmark rate to its highest level in two decades. The economy has persevered through both inflation and higher borrowing rates, bringing the Fed closer to its goal of taming inflation without pushing the economy into a recession.

Traders expect the Fed to start cutting its main interest rate at its next meeting in September, with up to a 1% reduction by the end of the year.

Troise and Veiga write for the Associated Press.

The Zacks Analyst Blog Nvidia, Tesla, JD.com, Royal Caribbean Cruises and Howmet Aerospace

For immediate releases.

Chicago, IL – August 27, 2024 – Zacks.com announces the list of stocks featured in the Analyst Blog. Every day the Zacks Equity Research analysts discuss the latest news and events impacting stocks and the financial markets. Stocks recently featured in the blog include: Nvidia ( NVDA Quick Quote NVDA - Free Report ) , Tesla ( TSLA Quick Quote TSLA - Free Report ) , JD.com ( JD Quick Quote JD - Free Report ) , Royal Caribbean Cruises ( RCL Quick Quote RCL - Free Report ) and Howmet Aerospace ( HWM Quick Quote HWM - Free Report ) .

Here are highlights from Tuesday’s Analyst Blog:

Nvidia, nvidia, nvidia: global week ahead.

In the Global Week Ahead:

  • The latest quarterly earnings from AI darling Nvidia, and
  • Key inflation numbers in the euro area and Australia

Those two updates should keep global financial markets busy:

  • Gold's relentless climb to record highs and
  • A U.S. dollar under pressure as U.S. rate cut speculation build

Those are also in investors' sights.

Next are Reuters’ five world market themes, reordered for equity traders—

(1) nvidia’s earnings will be the stock market highlight..

Investor enthusiasm for artificial intelligence could be tested when chipmaker Nvidia reports earnings on Aug. 28th.

Nvidia’s chips are seen as the gold standard in the AI-space and its shares are up around 150% this year, helping to power the S&P 500 to record highs.

But the stock's stunning, multi-year run and the AI-mania have also drawn comparisons to the dot-com craze that imploded more than two decades ago.

Investors’ reaction to disappointing results from mega-cap names such as Tesla last month suggests markets may not be in a forgiving mood, especially when valuations for many companies in the sector are stretched.

Data highlights meanwhile include Friday's U.S. Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index, a key inflation gauge tracked by the Federal Reserve.

(2) On Friday, the latest Eurozone inflation numbers come out.

August Eurozone inflation numbers on Friday will be key to European Central Bank policymakers deciding whether (or not) to cut rates in September.

The data, preceded by national releases starting on Thursday, follows a small but unexpected rise in July, highlighting a bumpy last mile in curbing inflation.

Headline inflation may ease as oil prices have fallen, but focus will remain on the core figure and the dominant services sector, where price growth remains stickier.

Any upside surprises may warrant caution, as traders have ramped up ECB rate cut bets in recent weeks. Focus has turned to growth risks, but Eurozone business activity showed surprising strength in August.

Traders fully price in another 25 basis point rate cut on Sept. 12, and see a high chance of two more moves after that by year-end.

(3) On Wednesday, Australia’s July inflation numbers land. Japan’s land Friday.

The stakes are high for the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA), which has insisted that interest rates need to stay restrictive for an "extended period" since underlying inflation remains too high for comfort.

Wednesday's July inflation numbers could show headline inflation diving back into the RBA's 2-3% target band for the first time in three years.

And any signs that inflation pressures are abating could pile pressure on the central bank. It has become an outlier globally with a reluctance to lower rates while many peers look to kick off — or have already begun — easing cycles.

Investors are also hoping that Wednesday's data could provide some relief to consumer sentiment, which has taken a hit from the weight of steep borrowing costs.

Elsewhere, Tokyo's August inflation report on Friday potentially offers further clues on Japan's rate outlook.

(4) Where does the Euro go from here?

The euro is at its highest this year against the dollar, benefiting from recent ructions in global markets.

Diverging U.S. and euro area rate expectations are behind its gains. Traders price around 100 bps of Fed rate cuts by year-end, up sharply from before the latest U.S. payrolls data, while only fully pricing two more 25 bps ECB cuts.

The question is whether the euro, also at its highest on a trade-weighted basis on record, can sustain its momentum.

Germany's business activity contracted by more than expected in August, a negative sign for Europe's economic engine, while Eurozone wage growth slowed last quarter, supporting the case for an ECB September cut.

Euro bulls are a shy bunch, price action in recent years suggests. They may need more convincing of the euro's rebound before coming out in force.

(5) Gold prices remain a focus.

Gold has hit consecutive records since 2022, and has surged over 20% so far this year. Now $3,000 an ounce beckons.

The stars have aligned for the precious metal used primarily to preserve wealth during periods of heightened security risks and political and economic turmoil.

Russia's war on Ukraine triggered gold's rally in February 2022. Soaring commodity prices in the aftermath fueled inflation, which erodes the value of monetary assets.

Middle East tensions and uncertainty from the fast-approaching U.S. Presidential election have spurred further gains.

Reinforcing the buy bullion trade is the prospect of U.S. interest rate cuts, pressuring the U.S. currency and boosting gold's appeal. It has a negative relationship with the dollar.

But gold bulls should bear in mind the old adage that "nothing goes up in a straight line" because markets typically "buy the rumor, sell the fact.”
