Who is the Liberty Card for?

The Liberty Card, like the Benefit Cards offers reduced prices on many routes throughout the year. It is therefore aimed at regular train users and experienced travellers. This card replaces the Fréquence 30 and 50 season tickets since 9 May 2019 with the launch of the simplification of the SNCF's fare offer. Anyone can subscribe to this offer, there is no age limit, and you can even share your benefits with your friends and family! Convenient, isn't it?

What are the characteristics of the Liberty Card?

This card is valid for 1 year throughout France and Europe. La SNCF offers two prices for this Card: 399€ at the normal rate, or 379€ for customers with a pro contract. (price excluding promo). The pro contract: what is it? Quickly, this contract is reserved for people managing a train budget of less than €150,000 per year on behalf of a VSE/SME or as a self-employed person. It offers its holder advantages such as: 5% discount on the Business Premiere fare, exclusive access to the Pro 2nd fare, Express Access, Access to the inOui TGV Frequent Traveller Lounges, and therefore a €20 discount on the purchase of a Liberté Card.

Will the Liberty Card be profitable for me?

With near certainty the answer to your question is: YES! If you're a regular traveller, chances are you'll make good money on this Card, and fast! On average it only takes 4 round trips for you to be a winner. For example on Toulouse-Strasbourg , you would usually need to plan within 300€ for a round trip. With this Card, the same journey costs you 120€ (second class), so you save 180€! Not bad, right?

Here you can find an overview of the specific fares for the different TGV INOUI trains.  Since 10 January 2024 , a new range of TGV INOUI fares is in force. Find out more below.  

Our tip remains the same: if you want to enjoy the best prices, book as early as possible! (as a general rule, tickets are available from 4 months before the departure date).

Fares for TGV INOUI trains from 10 January 2024 TGV INOUI fares from 10/01/2024

Target group:

• Adults  (28 - 60 years)
• Senior citizens  ( > 60 years)
• Youth (12 - 27 years)
• Accompanied children  (4 - 12 years)
• Children under 4 years old (if you want a reserved seat)
• Wheelchair users 1   (and their accompanying person, if any) who hold a medical certificate or other document proving that the use of the wheelchair is needed. 

Comfort : 1st class, 2nd class

1 Wheelchair users pay a 2nd class fare but get a reserved seat in 1st class.

After-sales:

• Free exchange and refund up to 7 complete days 2 before departure
• Exchange or refund subject to a €19 fee from 6 complete days 2 before departure of the train.
• From 30 minutes before departure the ticket can be exchanged once , after this exchange it is no longer refundable . The ticket can only be exchanged within the same range.

2  By a complete day before departure, we mean 24 hours before the departure time of the train.

Please note: different fare types apply on TGV France-Italy trains.

• Seniors  ( > 60 years)
• Youth  (12 - 27 years)
• Wheelchair users * (and their accompanying person, if any) who hold a medical certificate or other document proving that the use of the wheelchair is needed. 

* Wheelchair users pay a 2nd class fare but get a reserved seat in 1st class.

• Free exchange and refund up to 30 minutes after departure.
• From 30 minutes before departure, the ticket can be exchanged once for another TGV INOUI ticket.
• After 1 exchange in the period from 30 minutes before departure to 30 minutes after departure, the ticket is non-refundable.

Good to know:

When travelling at the Flex fare in 1st class, you have access ( upon presentation of your ticket) to the Eurostar Lounge in Brussels-Midi and the Salon Grand Voyageur TGV INOUI in Lille-Europe, Lyon Part-Dieu, Rennes, Nantes, Marseille St-Charles and Strasbourg.

Please note: Different fare types apply on TGV France-Italy trains.

• Groups of minimum 10 to maximum 99 people
• All age categories (adults, young people, children aged 4 to 12 and children under 4 wishing to have a reserved seat)

Please note: For reservations for groups consisting of more than 60 people, a request must be submitted to our Group Travel Contact Centre .

• No exchange possible.
• Full refund up to 46 days before departure.
• 50% refundable from 45 days to 12 days prior to departure.
• No refund possible from 11 days before departure.

Important: when we talk about the day before departure, we mean 24 hours before the train's departure time.

This benefit card is destined for travellers who regularly travel with TGV INOUI in their free time . The card will be on sale at SNCB International by early 2024. If you already hold a Carte Avantage Youths/Seniors , you can already enjoy the benefits now. Enter the details of your card when booking your journey and the discount will be automatically calculated.

• Cost: € 49/year
• Youth  aged 12 to 27
• Senior citizens from 60 years and older
• As a cardholder , you enjoy a 30% discount on the Flex fare   in 1st and 2nd class 
• You may also bring 1 to 3 children who enjoy a 60% discount on the daily fare
• Single journeys during the week and on weekends
• Outward and return journeys during the week and at weekend

This benefit card is destined for travellers who regularly travel with TGV INOUI in their free time . The card will be on sale at SNCB International by early 2024. If you already hold a Carte Avantage Adult , you can already enjoy the benefits now. Enter the details of your card when booking your journey and the discount will be automatically calculated.

• Adults aged 27 to 59 
• As a cardholder, you enjoy a 30% discount  on the Flex fare in 1st and 2nd class
• You can bring 1 adult who enjoys a 30% discount on the daily fare
• You can also bring 1 to 3 children who enjoy a 60% discount on the daily fare
• 1 one-way trip on Saturday or Sunday.
• 1 one-way trip on weekdays with a child.
• return journeys including at least one weekend night on Friday, Saturday or Sunday 1 (for example: departure on Thursday and return on Monday - the return journey includes at least one weekend night).

This benefit card is intended for passengers who travel frequently with TGV INOUI (for work or leisure). The card will be on sale at SNCB International by early 2024. If you already have a Carte Liberté , you can now take advantage of the benefits. Simply enter your card details when booking your journey and the discount will be calculated automatically.

• Cost: € 399/year
• Youth aged 12 to 27
• Adults aged 27 to 59
• Seniors aged 60 and older
• As a cardholder, you receive a 45% discount on the Flex fare  in 1st class and a 60% discount on the Flex fare  in 2nd class .  
• You can take 1 adult with you, who receives a 30% reduction on the daily fare.
• You can also take 1 to 3 children with you, who benefit from a 60% reduction on the daily fare.
• Outward and return journeys during the week and at weekends

Do you travel to or from another Belgian location than Brussels? Our 'Connection' ticket allows you to take any domestic SNCB train between Brussels-Midi (your departure or arrival station for TGV INOUI) and the Belgian station of your choice. This 'Connection' ticket is available from €8.60 each way in 2nd class or €13.10 each way in 1st class, regardless of your Belgian departure or arrival station.

Customer card

Your ticket at the apprenticeship rate: customer card plus token.

The foundation of the apprenticeship fare is the personal customer card. This will be - together with a current token for one calendar week or one calendar month - your valid ticket in the apprenticeship fare.

Compile the following documents for your customer card application:

• Completed order form
• Passport photo with 35 x 45 mm (only for children from 6 years up to and including 15 years)
• Confirmation of the educational institution or, in the case of pupils up to 14 years of age, confirmation of the parents on the order form. 
• Alternatively: documents relating to training or studies - such as IHK training contract, certificate of enrollment or internship contract
• Confirmation of home address by means of ID card, registration certificate or rental agreement

Eligible persons for the apprenticeship rate.

The apprenticeship rate is an offer for the journey between the apprenticeship place and home. Due to the legal framework, only certain groups of people receive it: 

• pupils and students of public, state-approved or state-recognised private - general education schools, - vocational schools, - second-chance educational institutions, - universities, academies with the exception of administrative academies, adult education centres, rural folk high schools and colleges of the German armed forces.
• persons attending public schools or other educational institutions not covered by No. 1, provided that they are exempt from compulsory vocational schooling on the basis of attendance at such schools or educational institutions or provided that attendance at such schools and other private educational institutions is eligible for assistance under the Federal Training Assistance Act (Bundesausbildungsförderungsgesetz)
• persons attending courses at an adult education centre (Volkshochschule) or at another institution of further education (Weiterbildung) for the subsequent acquisition of the lower secondary school-leaving certificate or the intermediate secondary school-leaving certificate (Realschulabschluss)
• persons who are in a vocational training relationship within the meaning of the Vocational Training Act or in another contractual relationship within the meaning of § 26 of the Vocational Training Act, as well as persons who are being trained in an institution outside of in-company vocational training within the meaning of § 43(2) of the Vocational Training Act, § 36(2) of the Handicrafts Code
• persons attending a state-recognised vocational preparation course
• interns and trainees, provided that the completion of an internship or traineeship before, during or after a state-regulated training course or a course of study at a higher education institution is provided for in accordance with the provisions applicable to training and studies
• Candidates for civil servant positions in the ordinary, intermediate and higher civil services (qualification levels 1 to 3) as well as trainees and persons who must first acquire the qualification for admission as candidates for civil servant positions in the ordinary, intermediate or higher civil services (qualification levels 1 to 3) by attending an administrative course, provided they do not receive reimbursement of travel expenses from the administration.
• Participants in a voluntary social year or in a voluntary ecological year or comparable social services.

How to become a Frequent Traveller

To achieve or renew your Frequent Traveller status, you need to earn at least 650 Points and 325 Qualifying Points in a calendar year. You can view your current progress under your status in your Miles & More account at any time.

The simple earning system lets you quickly see how many Points and Qualifying Points you’ll get for a flight. This makes your journey to becoming a Frequent Traveller entirely transparent.

Frequent traveller status card and bag tag.

When you qualify as a Frequent Traveller, you get a silver status card that is valid for at least one year, as well as a high-quality bag tag in the status colour.

Business Class check-in

Regardless of the travel class you have booked, when travelling on scheduled flights operated by Miles & More airline partners you can use the Business Class check-in counter.

Please note the check-in deadlines for your chosen travel class. It will be even quicker for you at airports which have a priority check-in area (currently Frankfurt/Main and Munich).
