The E in the name stands for Extreme, as this club emphasizes extreme performance, distance and forgiveness. This ultra-premium, very sleek-looking, game-improvement iron is loaded with technology – like its sibling C723 irons . Each iron contains VIBRCOR – which is a TPU that’s strategically injected into the hollow body, deep 360-degree undercut pocket to provide excellent feel.

It also features visible VIBRCOR on the back of the clubhead – which dampens impact vibration, shock and sound to improve feel. The Diamond Face VFT comprises 92 diamond shapes of three different thicknesses behind the face that act as mini-trampolines – creating faster ball speed and expanding the sweet spot to the outer areas of the face. So every shot feels like you nutted it, regardless of where the ball makes contact with the face.

Tour Edge Exotics E723 Iron at address

The view at address gives you confidence that you can manhandle the ball around the course with ease. There’s a slight bulge low and an inviting amount of offset. It’s an iron intended mainly for higher handicaps . That said, our testers were lower handicaps. And their experience was pleasantly surprising – except for the thicker topline at address, which is aimed for lesser-skilled players who need the visual confidence that there’s some muscle behind their shots. And not that you’re seeing it standing over the ball, but the rear of the clubhead just looks kind of busy, with a black weaved graphite kind of window. The clubface of the irons looks nearly – if not exactly – identical to that of the sister C723 irons.

All of that said, the clubs were surprisingly easy to swing and effortless to perform well. No kidding: Our first shot using the irons was a 6-iron against the wind on a 180-yard par-3. The ball landed just five feet from the pin, to which the other players in our group suggested switching to this set immediately. Of course, that was hit off of a tee – so that’s usually easier than off the ground.

The remainder of our testing were then irons struck directly off the turf – from rough and fairway. And they were all super-easy to hit, taking divots or picking it clean didn’t matter. The shots felt solid, got lots of distance and trajectory, and in the name of the “E for Extreme” mantra were plenty forgiving, one of the most forgiving irons we've tested recently in fact. The irons were given to us for testing with Mitsubishi Tensei AV Series 65-gram graphite shafts - the retail price with these for a set is just $800, which is a snip considering the performance and enjoyment we experienced when using them.

Tour Edge Exotics E723 Irons Review

Introduction.

The 2024 Tour Edge Exotics E723 Irons are a game-improvement iron designed for golfers of all skill levels. They feature a number of innovative technologies that help to improve forgiveness, distance, and feel.

Table of Contents

Additional Information

The Tour Edge Exotics E723 Irons are available in three different models:

  • E723: This is the base model and is designed for golfers of all skill levels.
  • E723 Pro: This model is designed for better players and features a smaller head size and thinner face.
  • E723 CB: This model is a cavity-back design that is designed for golfers who want a little more forgiveness.

The E723 Irons are a great value for the price. They offer a lot of performance features that are typically found in more expensive irons. If you’re looking for a new set of irons that will help you improve your game, the E723s are a great option.

Model Breakdown

The E723 is the base model of the E723 series. It is designed for golfers of all skill levels, but it is especially well-suited for golfers who want a forgiving iron with a lot of distance. The E723 features a large clubhead with a deep undercut cavity. This design helps to lower the center of gravity and increase the moment of inertia (MOI), which results in more forgiveness on off-center hits. The E723 also features VIBRCOR technology, which helps to dampen sound and vibration, resulting in a softer feel at impact.

The E723 Pro is designed for better players who want a more compact iron with a thinner face. The Pro model has a smaller head size than the E723, and the face is also thinner. This design results in a more penetrating ball flight and more control. The E723 Pro also features VIBRCOR technology, but it does not have the same amount of offset as the E723. This makes it a better choice for golfers who want a more traditional look at address.

The E723 CB is a cavity-back design that is designed for golfers who want a little more forgiveness than the E723 Pro. The CB model has a larger head size than the Pro, and it also has a more traditional cavity-back design. This design results in a more forgiving iron that is still easy to control. The E723 CB also features VIBRCOR technology, and it has the same amount of offset as the E723.

Which Model is Right for You?

The best way to decide which model of the E723 Irons is right for you is to try them out and see which one you like the best. If you are a beginner or high handicapper, the E723 is a great choice. It is a forgiving iron that will help you hit the ball longer and straighter. If you are a better player who wants more control, the E723 Pro is a good option. It is a compact iron with a thinner face that will help you hit the ball with more precision. If you want a little more forgiveness than the E723 Pro, the E723 CB is a good choice. It is a cavity-back design that is still easy to control.

No matter which model you choose, you can be sure that you are getting a high-quality iron that is designed to help you improve your game.

VIBRCOR Technology

VIBRCOR is a TPU insert that is located in the lower portion of the clubface. It helps to dampen sound and vibration, which results in a softer feel at impact. VIBRCOR also helps to increase ball speed, which leads to more distance.

Diamond Face VFT Technology

Diamond Face VFT is a variable face thickness technology that is designed to improve ball speed across the entire face. The face is thinner in the center and thicker on the edges, which helps to create a larger sweet spot and more forgiveness on off-center hits.

Multi-Material Electro-Form Cap

The multi-material electro-form cap is a lightweight material that is used to cover the face of the club. It helps to lower the center of gravity, which results in a higher launch angle and more forgiveness.

Extreme Toe Weighting

The E723 Irons feature extreme toe weighting, which helps to improve forgiveness and stability. The toe weight is located in the rear portion of the clubhead, which helps to keep the clubhead from twisting on off-center hits.

  • Lofts: 3-PW
  • Lie Angles: 61-64 degrees
  • Shafts: True Temper Elevate 95, Project X LZ, KBS Tour V
  • Grips: Lamkin Crossline

Pros & Cons

  • Forgiveness
  • Some may find the offset to be too much

Tested: Tour Edge Exotics E723, C723 & 723 Pro irons

Tour edge's 723 exotics line of irons displays a range of different models, covering golfers of all levels..

tour edge e723 irons review

TESTED BY:  Jimmy Emanuel, Golf Australia Deputy & Digital Editor.

 COST: C723:  $249 per iron (graphite shafts); $229 (steel).   E723:   $199 (graphite); $179 (steel).   723   Pro:   $229.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:  Getting a first in-hand look at these irons was interesting to fully grasp how different each model is and how the 723 range covers all golfers.

The Pro model was always going to be the most familiar and well-suited personally, and I liked the appearance behind the ball of a better player’s iron with a little more beef than I am used to.

The C723 is noticeably bigger and filled me with confidence at address, without being “too big”, while the E723 made it feel as though I couldn’t miss with its thicker topline, sole and face height.

Off the face all three had their own standout points, with the pro feeling the best of the trio and flying in a nice window, whereas the C723 felt powerful but still solid and had more speed off the face and the E723 took off like an iron or two more than my equivalent club … and higher.

HOW THEY PERFORMED: Continuing to put these irons through their paces, the variation in performance and target market kept becoming clearer and in line with how Tour Edge have identified the 723 Exotics line.

The C series is for competition players, while E is designed as extreme, pushing forgiveness and distance further. The Pro model clearly designed for better players.

C723 irons are exactly what you would expect from an iron in the middle of this family with help getting the ball up and forgiveness present, while distance is where they stand out.

This iron is for golfers who can hit their irons but want some more power with the strike, the C723 producing a penetrating flight with a solid feel off the face.

tour edge e723 irons review

The E723 is certainly not lacking in distance, and personally the ability to hit close to the centre of the clubface with some regularity made these irons absolutely soar.

However, the most impressive elements of the most forgiving model is just that. Making strikes off the toe and heel, as well as lower and higher on the face, the accuracy dispersion was extremely impressive. So too the lack of distance loss when making an off-centre strike.

Feel is still maintained in these irons with one of the primary technologies, VIBCOR, and it is certainly not a clicky sensation.

The Pro model again doesn’t lack in power, but this is a model built more for precision, and it is a very workable option for ball flight needs.

The feel is the standout of the three from the forged head that is also CNC milled, while the look of the 723 Pro is fairly classic with a little more size to build some confidence and ensure that when you’re not hitting the ball your best you won’t be too harshly punished.

Overall, the 723 iron range is diverse enough to suit an exceptionally wide variety of players, as well as catering to the differing preferences of golfers.

Testing the two models you might fall between would be the best course of action with these, as you might just be surprised.

tour edge e723 irons review

Tour Edge’s Exotics line has always been about premium components to achieve improved performance and the C723, E723 and 723 Pro all fit the bill perfectly.

TOUR EDGE SAYS: The C723 irons are an ultra-premium player’s distance iron loaded with technology like the revolutionary ‘VIBRCOR’ and Tour Edge’s breakthrough ‘Diamond Face VFT’ that gives these irons incredible power and feel.

A high-grade TPU injected into the hollow-body pocket to create a new speed inducing and feel-enhancing internal technology, VIBRCOR produces faster ball speed, dampens sound and shock at impact and creates perimeter weighting for maximum forgiveness and power.

Different diamond shapes of variable face thickness behind the face function as mini trampolines to create faster ball speeds and expand the sweet spot to outer areas of the face made from high-strength forged military-grade maraging steel.

The hollow-body Exotics C723 Iron features a 15 percent smaller clubhead with a shorter blade length and a thinner top line.

A one-piece high-strength steel body with a 360-degree undercut design featuring VIBCOR and Diamond Face VFT, the E723 construction lowers the centre of gravity (CG) to produce a higher launch and increased face flexing, ball speed and overall distance across the entire face. The multi-material electro-form cap now features carbon fibre for added perimeter weighting.

tour edge e723 irons review

Extreme toe weighting elongates the sweet spot to achieve a higher moment of inertia (MOI) and strategic CG positioning right behind centre face and further optimises the sound and feel of the iron.

The 723 Pro is a forged cavity-back iron that came about via Tour feedback asking for player-shaped forgiveness.

Forged and CNC milled to precise tolerances, the 723 Pro features a slightly larger cavity design with weight shifted behind the centre of the face and to the lower portion of the head for maximum forgiveness while maintaining a thin top line and classic look at address.

Tour Edge Exotics E723 Irons Review

Tour Edge Exotics E723 Irons Review

50 Words or Less

Tour Edge Exotics E723 irons are beasts of the super game improvement category.  So easy to hit it almost feels like cheating.

Introduction

Tour Edge Exotics has a unique branding strategy as the only OEM that focuses its efforts on the Champions Tour.  Brand ambassadors include players like Scott McCarron, Bernhard Langer, and Mike Weir, not to mention Bo Jackson.  These are names that might not mean much to folks under the age of 35, but for the older generation, many are trusted icons.

In the Tour Edge Exotics E723 irons, we have a set that is designed for older players or beginners to help maximize enjoyment of the game.  Learn how they do such a good job of that in this review.

tour edge e723 irons review

Traditional aesthetics are not the strong suit of these irons and others in the SGI category.  And that’s by design.  Realistically, you can’t produce the kind of distance and forgiveness these irons need to provide with a razor-thin topline and no offset.  You can’t do it with a compact clubhead and a sweet spot the size of a dime.  That’s why the Tour Edge Exotics E723 irons have a big, chunky appearance .

tour edge e723 irons review

Beyond that, they’re good looking clubs .  There’s a nice matte finish to reduce glare.  They are the biggest and most forgiving of the three irons in the most recent Exotics line and are a logical extension of the C723 [review HERE ] in terms of size, though you probably wouldn’t build a combo set out of them due to differences in lofts.

Sound & Feel

Much of the technology that contributed to the excellent sound and feel of the C723 is also present in the Tour Edge Exotics E723 irons.  Diamond Face VFT is a constellation of diamond shaped trampolines of variable thickness distributed across the face in a pattern that promotes better outcomes on heel and toe strikes.  This contributes to the feeling that the ball was struck solid, even if strike location wasn’t exactly perfect.

The E723 also has VIBRCOR injected into the hollow portion of the clubhead.  You do get more of it in this model, compared to others.  I’ll trust the scientists to determine the exact qualities of this very fancy plastic, but for me it seems to contribute to a soft and explosive feel at impact.  The sound is percussive and pleasant, not overly loud.

Performance

While the Tour Edge Exotics E723 irons share some tech with their sibling, there are several key things that differentiate them from the C723.  One piece of technology that is unique to the E723 is the extreme toe weighting.  By placing extra weight toe side at the back of the club, Tour Edge says that it elongates the sweet spot and improves sound and feel.

My first time testing these produced a compelling case for why these irons are so good at what they do.  It was early in the morning, and my swing wasn’t totally awake yet.  Yet I found that all I had to do was make a passable swipe at the ball and boom, away it went in a predictably high and straight trajectory .  At one point I chuckled to myself as I launched 6 iron after 6 iron into the stratosphere.

tour edge e723 irons review

I’ll point out that, in addition to the club’s remarkable blend of tech and materials , the lofts on these are about one club strong, relative to standard (“standard” pitching wedge is 46 degrees and the E723 is 42).  Of course, this is normal in this category of iron, and I don’t see it as a detractor at all.  For the intended player, it makes good sense.  The stronger lofts are only a small part of why these irons are so long.

Another unique feature is the 360° Undercut Design, which lowers the CG and moves weight away from the face in order to maximize MOI and forgiveness.  In addition to the distance and trajectory mentioned above, these irons are incredibly forgiving.  They tend to produce decent results out of even mediocre strikes.

tour edge e723 irons review

The Tour Edge Exotics E723 irons are long, forgiving, and fun to hit.  While I am not the player they designed for, I know there are huge numbers of those golfers out there.  It gives me comfort to know that, if my body allows, I could be using these or similar clubs to enjoy the game well into my golden years.  If you are in that stage of life now or are just starting to get into the game and want an iron to make it easier, these are a great choice.

Tour Edge Launches Exotics 723 E and C Series of Metals and Irons

  • on February 7, 2023

Tour Edge Announces High-Tech Exotics 723 Metals Designed to Fit Every Possible Swing Type

BATAVIA, IL – Tour Edge, the pound for pound industry leader in performance and innovation, introduces their new Exotics 723 Series of metals.

Following the path of the previous Exotics, the tour-winning 722 Series, the Exotics 723 launch features two separate drivers, fairway and hybrid designs designated as Extreme (E) and Competition (C) spec. The new E723 metals are MOI+ designs built for maximum forgiveness, while the new C723 designs are all about harnessing power and dialing in low spinning distance. The Exotics 723 E and C drivers feature all-new design and technology called the Flight Tuning System or F.T.S. F.T.S. was developed to provide Tour Edge’s largest fitting matrix ever produced.

One of the top design goals for the Tour Edge R&D team was to provide one of the most adjustable drivers currently available in the marketplace. With the player centric C723 Driver, the Flight Tuning System technology and all its available weight options total 4,860 different fitting configurations for the clubhead. This is due to the ability to swap different weights both on the back sliding track new to the 723 Series, and by having both front and back weights that are interchangeable. This unprecedented level of adjustability allows the golfer or custom fitter to dial in flight direction and desired level of MOI and spin.

The new ultra-premium, high-performance Exotics 723 Series metals will be available worldwide on March 1, 2023. Pre-Sale starts February 8th and will go through February 28th.

The Exotics C723 and E723 Drivers

Exotics c723 driver.

This ultra-premium 445cc profile and deeper face of the C723 is designed for the competitive player to produce low-spin power. The C723 Driver features a two-tier front/back Flight Tuning System with the back weight on a new sliding track that allows for both extreme MOI and flight/spin rate manipulation.

The C723 design offers the ultimate in power, feel and forgiveness through Tour Edge’s breakthrough 360-degree Ridgeback™ and Diamond Face VFT ™ technologies.

The C723 Flight Tuning System, a two-tier Front/Back Weight System with the back weight on a new sliding track, allows for both extreme MOI and flight/spin rate manipulation. The C723 Driver will come standard with a 5-gram weight in the front and a 15-gram weight in the back. This allows for adjustability at a rate of +/- 300 RPMs of spin rate when the weights are switched. The MOI range adjustment is from 5300 g/cm2 to 4900 g/cm2, making for an available adjustability of 11% at your fingertips. It’s a 5% increase in MOI over the previous C design.

Sliding the weight on the adjustable track allows for a +/- 7-yard heel and toe bias in directional flight. For example, if you were to slide the weight all the way to edge of the Fade position, your flight would adjust seven yards to the right for a right-handed player, and vice versa for the Draw setting. Nine different individual weights that are transferable to every club in the 723 Series will be available from 5 grams to 21 grams.

Adding to its adjustability the adjustable hosel allows golfers to adjust the loft +/- 2 degrees and lie angle through a range of 3 degrees.

Exotics E723 Driver

This ultra-premium 460cc profile designed for maximum forgiveness takes MOI to the absolute extreme! The E723 Driver’s extreme low rearward CG position produces an extremely high MOI of 5600 g/cm2, the highest MOI driver Tour Edge has ever produced.

The E723 Driver features a Flight Tuning System on a new sliding track, while bringing the ultimate in power, feel and forgiveness through Tour Edge’s breakthrough 360-degree Ridgeback™ and Diamond Face VFT ™ technologies. Flight Tuning System / MOI+ -The Flight Tuning System is a weighting design on a sliding track features a 20-gram weight at the extreme trailing edge on the sole of the clubhead.

Sliding the weight on the adjustable track allows for a +/- 10-yard heel and toe bias in directional flight. For example, if you were to slide the weight all the way to edge of the Fade position, your flight would adjust 10 yards to the right for a right-handed player, and vice versa for the Draw setting. Nine different individual weights that are transferable to every club in the 723 Series will be available from 5 grams to 21 grams.

The E723 Driver’s extreme low rearward CG position produces an extremely high MOI at 5600 g/cm2 MOI, the highest MOI driver we have ever produced. This leads to increased stability at impact and tighter dispersion. It’s a 5% increase in MOI over the previous E design.

Both the C723 and E723 Feature:

  • 360° Ridgeback Technology  – Tour Edge engineers created a thinner, more refined Ridgeback activation for 723 with increased structural properties and 360-degree perimeter weighting. The Titanium Ridgeback spine running from the center of the face through the crown now wraps around the entire perimeter to frame the entire clubhead. Adding Titanium to the perimeter, along with Ridgeback down the center, allows more support on off-center hits to increase face deflection. The additional perimeter Titanium has boosted MOI significantly. This Ridgeback spine and now 360-degree activation acts as a brace for the entire clubhead to produce more power across the entire face, including the extreme perimeters. The 723 Ridgeback design is 15% thinner than the previous 722 model, while offering greater structural support properties.
  • Quad Carbon Tech  – Tour Edge engineers replaced extra Titanium from the crown and sole by creating Quad Carbon Tech in four different areas of the clubhead. The 723 features 5% more carbon fiber than its previous iteration. The addition of Quad Carbon Tech saves considerable weight in the clubhead, allowing for the 360-degree Ridgeback design, an increase in MOI, greater face flex in the heel and toe areas so off- center hits achieve greater power. This weight savings has been re-purposed to the ideal location to help with creating optimal CG location.
  • Diamond Face VFT  – The new Diamond Face VFT is made up of diamond shapes of variable face thickness behind the face. There are 44 total diamond shapes featured on Diamond Face VFT, comprising seven different thicknesses in an interweaving pattern. The face thickness of the new Diamond Face VFT is thinner on the heel and toe on the 723 Driver.

The Exotics C723 and E723 Fairway Metals

Exotics c723 fairway metal.

This ultra-premium compact profile and deeper face is designed for the competitive player to produce low-spin power. The C723 Fairway features a two-tier front/back Flight Tuning System that allows for both extreme MOI and flight/spin rate manipulation. This all-Titanium Player’s Fairway features the revolutionary 90-gram RyzerSole Technology while bringing the ultimate in power, feel and forgiveness through Tour Edge’s breakthrough Diamond Face VFT ™ technology.

Flight Tuning System  – An adjustable 15-gram weight directly behind the face and the addition of a 5-gram back weight to create an amazingly effective front/back weighting system for MOI and spin control. The C723 Fairway will come standard with a 5-gram weight in the back and a 15- gram weight in the front. This allows for adjustability at a rate of +/- 200 RPMs of spin rate when the weights are switched All 723 series weights are swappable from club to club. Nine different individual weights that are transferable to every club in the 723 Series will be available from 5 grams to 21 grams.

The adjustable hosel allows golfers to adjust the loft +/- 1.5 degrees up or down. With three lofts being offered (13°,15°, 18°) the 723 delivers a loft range of 11.5 degrees to 19.5 degrees, while various alternate settings afford lie angles from 56 degrees to 59 degrees.

Exotics E723 Fairway Metal

This ultra-premium fairway metal is loaded with tech for extreme forgiveness and distance. These fairway’s feature the revolutionary RyzerSole Technology while bringing the ultimate in power, feel and forgiveness through Tour Edge’s breakthrough Diamond Face VFT ™ technology.

Maximum Forgiveness – MOI+  – An adjustable 10-gram weight at the extreme trailing edge on the sole of the clubhead. The E723 fairway’s extreme low-rearward CG position produces an extremely high MOI and a deeper CG position. The MOI rating of the E723 was raised 5% over the E722 fairway metal. The position of the backweight helps deliver an optimally located CG, maximizing MOI, and aiding extreme stability and resistance to twisting at impact. Installation of different weights also allows dialing in of required swing weight at custom lengths.

All 723 series weights are swappable from club to club. Nine different individual weights will be available from 5 grams to 21 grams for our largest ever fitting matrix.

Both Exotics C723 and E723 Fairways Feature:

  • RyzerSole Technology  – The RyzerSole on the 723 Fairway Metal includes a sole rail and added weight that extends from leading edge to trailing edge. RyzerSole produces a super-low CG for high launching shots with optimized spin rates, decreased turf interaction and maximum ball speed off the face.
  • Maraging Steel Face / Diamond Face VFT  – A new Diamond Face VFT on a Maraging Steel Face is made up of diamond shapes of variable face thickness behind the face. There are 38 total diamond shapes featured on the fairway, comprising five different thicknesses in an interweaving pattern. The ultra-premium Maraging Steel face brings extra power off the face at impact.
  • Carbon Crown Design  – A Carbon Fiber Crown covers the entire crown area of the clubhead on the 723 Fairway Metals. The Carbon Crown provides the ultimate in power and feel and contributes to the extremely low CG of the clubhead and helps increase face flex. These are ultra-premium materials that lead to ultra-premium performance in every aspect of the clubhead.

Tour Edge Announces 4 New Iron Sets as part of their Exotics 723 Series

Exotics c723 (player’s distance), e723 (game improvement), pro 723 forged and bl prototype blades to launch march 1.

BATAVIA, IL – Tour Edge, the pound for pound industry leader in performance and innovation, announces four new iron sets as part of the all-new Exotics 723 Series.

Today, Tour Edge announced the all-new Exotics 723 Series irons, including the more compact C723 Iron and the feel enhanced E723 Iron. Both the Extreme (E) and Competition (C) ranges feature new technologies and setups designed to produce different playing characteristics targeting a specific player. The performance and design goals of the Exotics 723 Irons from Tour Edge R&D are to provide every level of golfer with two extreme distance irons that feature full-face forgiveness and ball speed with a perfected sound and feel.

Tour Edge is also launching the new Exotics Pro 723 Forged irons and the special-release Exotics BL Proto Blade irons as part of the 723 Series. The Pro 723 Forged irons came about from the players on the PGA TOUR Champions requesting an iron featuring player-shaped forgiveness. This led to a slightly larger forged cavity design. A VIBRCOR badge and over an hour of machining time on each iron head is the calling card of these forged beauties.

The BL Proto iron is a true prototype iron set that was designed by Glod with immense feedback from Tour Edge staff player Bernhard Langer. Langer has played several of these prototype irons in tournament play in the 2022 season.

The new ultra-premium, high-performance Exotics 723 Series irons will be available for purchase worldwide on March 1, 2023. Pre-Sale starts February 8th and will go through February 28th.

Exotics E723 Iron

This ultra-premium extreme distance iron is loaded with tech, including Tour Edge’s revolutionary VIBRCOR™ technology and breakthrough Diamond Face VFT ™ technology that give these irons incredible power and feel.

  • VIBRCOR Technology – A high-grade TPU strategically injected into the deep 360-degree undercut pocket to create this unique speed-inducing and feel-enhancing internal technology. The E723 Irons feature more VIBRCOR in the clubhead to further enhance feel and create more speed. It also now features visible VIBRCOR on the back of the clubhead. VIBRCOR TPU significantly alters the feel of the clubhead, produces faster ball speed, dampens sound and shock, and creates perimeter weighting around the entire clubhead for maximum forgiveness and power off the face. VIBRCOR allows for this sleek, extremely long and forgiving iron head to have the support, sound and feel of a forged iron in an Extreme Game Improvement iron body.
  • Diamond Face VFT – Different diamond shapes of variable face thickness behind the face function as minitrampolines to create faster ball speeds and expand the sweet spot to outer areas of the face. There are 99 total Diamond shapes featured on Diamond Face VFT that cover the entire face of the E723 Iron. Diamond Face VFT features three different thicknesses in an interweaving pattern and features a face thickness reduction on the heel and toe for even greater forgiveness. The mini trampolines that make-up Diamond Face VFT create faster ball speeds and an expanded sweet spot. The full-face increase in Diamond Face VFT coverage to the extreme heel and toe coverage ball speed on off-center hits while also greatly aiding forgiveness on these strikes.
  • 360° Undercut Design – The design is a one-piece high-strength steel body with a 360-degree Undercut Design. What does it do? It lowers the CG to produce a higher launch and increases face flexing, ball speed and overall distance across the entire face. The multi-material electroform cap now features carbon fiber for added perimeter weighting.
  • Extreme Toe Weighting – Extreme Toe Weighting achieved on the high toe in the rear portion of the club along with a new toe weighting pocket. This dual toe weighting elongates the sweet spot to achieve a higher MOI and strategic CG positioning right behind center face and further optimizes the sound and feel of the iron.

Exotics C723 Iron

This ultra-premium player’s distance iron loaded with tech like the revolutionary VIBRCOR™ technology and Tour Edge’s breakthrough Diamond Face VFT™ technology that gives these irons incredible power and feel.

  • VIBRCOR Technology – A high-grade TPU injected into the hollow-body pocket to create a new speed inducing and feel-enhancing internal technology. VIBRCOR performance gel injected into the hollow-body cavity produces faster ball speed, dampen sound and shock at impact and to create perimeter weighting around the entire clubhead for maximum forgiveness and power off the face. VIBRCOR treatment creates the feel of a full flush cavity iron in a sleek, extremely long and forgiving iron head that has the support, sound and feel of a forged iron in a player’s distance iron body.
  • Diamond Face VFT – Different diamond shapes of variable face thickness behind the face function as minitrampolines to create faster ball speeds and expand the sweet spot to outer areas of the face. There are 94 total Diamond shapes featured on Diamond Face VFT that cover the entire face of the C723 iron.
  • Military Grade Maraging Steel L-Cup Face – A high-strength forged Military-Grade Maraging Steel Face is plasma-welded onto a 17-4 stainless steel body. This ultra-high-strength steel is used in aerospace, with applications including landing gear, helicopter undercarriages, slat tracks and rocket motor cases and other applications which require a high strength-to-weight material. This allowed Tour Edge to produce a significantly thinner face, the thinnest in an Exotics iron to date. It also helped dramatically increase face flex across a greater surface area of the club face. The L-Cup Face acts as a hinge designed to improve accuracy and protect off-center ball speed.
  • Hollow-body Design with Player Preferred Shaping – The hollow-body Exotics C723 Iron features a 5% smaller clubhead with a shorter blade length and a thinner topline. The more classic shape of the C723 features more traditional lofting from iron to iron. This hollow-body iron design of the Exotics C723 Iron offers extreme perimeter weighting to create the distance and forgiveness of a metalwood combined with the feel and control of a forged iron set. The hollow body design allows for increased face flex, and the ability to have a thinner face and a deeper CG in a thin-sole iron design.

Exotics Pro 723 Forged Iron

This slightly larger forged cavity-back iron came about via tour feedback asking for player-shaped forgiveness. The ultra-premium Pro 723 Forged irons are CNC milled to precise tolerances and the face grooves designed to maximize performance throughout the set is also CNC milled to offer the thinnest face possible without sacrificing feel.

  • Player Shaped Forgiveness – A slightly larger forged cavity design based on tour player feedback. The larger CNC milled cavity allowed Tour Edge engineers to move critical weight behind the center of the face and to the lower portion of the head for maximum forgiveness while maintaining a thin top line and classic look at address.
  • Meticulous Machining Process – Every iron head spends over an hour being CNC milled to exacting tolerances. After the forging process, the faces are CNC milled to precise tolerances and the face grooves are designed to maximize performance throughout the set. The heel and toe pockets in the cavity are also CNC milled to offer the thinnest face possible without sacrificing feel.
  • VIBRCOR Filled Cavity – A VIBRCOR TPU badge located inside the cavity. The VIBRCOR dampens shock and provides a buttery muscle-back feel while aiding perimeter weighting and overall forgiveness.
  • Center Cavity Pad – A thick pad of extra steel in the center of the cavity behind the face. The added weight in the center of the cavity allows for center hits to have greater power. It also allows the heel and toe pockets of the cavity to be precision milled as thin as possible to provide maximum forgiveness and feel on off-center contact.

Exotics BL Proto Iron

Tour Edge chief designer David Glod worked directly with Bernhard Langer perfecting every millimeter of these milled forged blades. The long irons feature some special tech with two tungsten plugs directly behind the face.

Tour Edge Exotics E723, C723 drivers: What you need to know

/content/dam/images/golfdigest/fullset/2023/2/Exotics723Drivers.jpg

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Tour Edge updates its Exotics line of drivers with the new C723 and E723 models. The Exotics 723 is the most technologically rich line of drivers in the Tour Edge stable, and these two models mix four weight-saving carbon composite crowns and sole sections, with adjustability that shifts the center of gravity. The two models focus on two different groups of players, with the C723 targeting better players looking to reduce spin and the widebody E723 providing maximum forgiveness.

PRICE: C723 ($500, 8, 9, 10.5); E723 ($450, 9, 10.5, 12). Available for presale on Feb. 8 and in stores March 1.

3 COOL THINGS

1. Less is more. The Tour Edge Exotics line debuted a titanium skeleton in its drivers in 2021 , with a central band of titanium joining the front and back of the body, which was constructed largely of four lightweight carbon composite pieces (two on the crown and two on the sole). That rigid band, known as “Ridgeback,” aimed to stabilize and direct more energy back to the face. Effective, Tour Edge’s team sought to improve it by thinning the structure to save weight while still bolstering stability and energy transfer.

Now nearly 25 percent thinner than when it was first introduced, the improved design on the E723 and C723 drivers still stabilizes the body to direct energy back into the face, and not just the center of the face, said Matt Neeley, Tour Edge’s vice president of product development.

tour edge e723 irons review

The more compact of the two options (445 cubic centimeters), the C723 incorporates four carbon-composite sections on the crown and sole. The weight saved adds stability and creates discretionary mass for movable weights (15 and five grams) in not only the rear of the sole but the front as well. Either weight can fit in a back channel that slides to draw, fade or neutral positions, and placing the heavier weight up front further helps to lower spin. Its taller face is fueled by the largest collection of diamond-shaped indentations on the back for better ball speed.

More on this club

“Having this titanium perimeter was actually helping with the deflection on our off-center hits,” he said. “We were able to increase the titanium around the perimeter without suffering much of a penalty because we were able to get rid of a lot of that extra titanium that we were using on the crown and kind of reposition it out on the perimeter and low and back.”

In effect, reducing the titanium freed up five percent more area on the driver’s body to be covered by lightweight carbon composite, compared to last year’s 722 line, Neeley said. That means the more average golfer friendly E723 model has the highest moment of inertia (forgiveness on off-center hits) of any driver in company history.

/content/dam/images/golfdigest/fullset/2023/2/ExoticsE723_Driver_Front.png

2. Forgiveness made for pros and Joes alike. While the Exotics E723 is the larger, higher-launching and extra forgiving model, don’t sleep on the C723, which is plenty forgiving for a 445 cubic centimeter head. Because the majority of the crown and sole on both models is lightweight carbon composite, each model can incorporate a sliding weight in the rear that serves double duty by adding both forgiveness and directional control. On the C723 that weight is 15 grams, which pushes the MOI measurement well into the 5,000s, significantly high for all drivers, especially those in the C723’s relatively traditional shape. It also adds a 5-gram forward weight, and it can be interchanged with the heavier rear weight to create a lower-spinning option.

tour edge e723 irons review

The larger footprint of the two models exudes off-center-hit forgiveness, which is enhanced by a 20-gram sliding weight in the rear perimeter. That positioning pushes the center of gravity deeper for off-center-hit stability, the highest in company history. Still, letting that rear weight slide to draw or fade positions can soften those kinds of mis-hits by as much as 10 yards, per the company. The face-thickness pattern, which features rows of interwoven diamond shapes, gets thinner on the E723 for extra forgiveness where the target player often makes contact.

Meanwhile, the E723 pushes all of that saved mass into a 20-gram weight in that rear position, and like the C723 it can be set in neutral, draw or fade locations. That’s important not just for average players, Neeley said.

“In the past, we had pushed our E driver to be a little bit more forgiving, maybe a little bit more draw-biased, and one of the things we found with that particularly on tour was a lot of guys who were getting fit into this driver were struggling a little bit with the draw bias,” he said, noting that keeping the movable weight in the back made it more effective without losing forgiveness. “So one of the biggest things that we wanted to do was offer some sort of draw and fade bias.”

/content/dam/images/golfdigest/fullset/2023/2/ExoticsC723_Driver_Face.png

3. Diamonds make this face prettier, too. Tour Edge’s drivers have used an interwoven pattern of diamond shapes on the back of the face for several models over the last few years , and the Exotics 723 models feature its most intense iteration. Not only are there 61 diamonds of seven different thicknesses across the face, the new pattern gives special attention to heel and toe mishits. By stretching the pattern into those extreme areas, there’s more deflection in the face on those weaker hits for less energy lost on mis-hits, Neeley said.

“We're getting more deflection with less stress,” he said, noting the Tour Edge engineers have used finite element analysis internally to stretch the design’s possibilities. “Realistically diamond face isn’t just about center face, it’s about being able to distribute that load across the rest of the face to reduce our weight in the face so we can redistribute it elsewhere and to increase the ball speed on those off center hits. That's where we're seeing the most benefits.”

How do you get good video of your swing?

Bogey in the woods.

Ok, so if you have all the clubs and bags you want, then two to three hundred dollars on a SwingShot isnt a big deal. However, I am not yet in that kind of position and still want to be able to see my golf swing on video.

I tried putting my smartphone on the cart and on my bag, but only got a few consistent video shots.

So my question is what do you do to get good video of your swing without spending a ton?

There are a number of cell phone apps for golf swing analysis that are pretty good for free or small fee, like Swing Reader.  I am not endorsing it, but you can spend more money.  I would try one of them out to see what features you like.  If you are just starting out, free is a good start!

As for the mount...  I have seen several phone mounts for camera tripods that aren't very expensive $15+.  I would recommend a tripod for stability; iPhones can be expensive if dropped.  Tripods can be cheap or rather expensive, but look for one that is lightweight and stable.  Probably around $30.  My wife owns a photo lab so lots of tripods around, and I had an adjustable mount made by a friend out of a block of aluminum.

Good luck!  There is nothing like video to see your flaws.  Don't get discouraged; unless you have a swing coach, video is very useful for rapid improvement.  Even better if you can send your videos to a teaching pro on a regular basis.

I use an old shaft and a spare belt clip holster I had for my otterbox to make a stake type tripod and it works great, plus it's super stable as I can push it into the ground a few inches.  Simply removed the belt clip, drilled a hole through it and mounter the clip to a pipe clamp that I can tighten around the old steel shaft.

Lot's of different ways to go on this one, but I'll start by asking what device are you recording with?  What type of phone do you have?

The easiest way is to bring a buddy with and have them film your swing.  If that's not an option then in addition to the suggestions above I'd nominate the iPing cradle if it fits your phone.  You can take an old shaft and stick in the ground then clip the cradle to that and film away.  If you don't have an old shaft then one of those $2 driveway stakes from home depot works too, plus it doubles as an alignment stick.  The iPing cradle is great because it's also a useful training aid if you want to work on the consistency of your putting stroke.

:taylormade-small:

I vote for a buddy. You video them and they video you.

I find this better than doing it all yourself also because you can focus on swinging and not worrying about the camera or phone.

If you don't have a buddy who you can do this with then it's time to buy a six pack and start walking down the line of golfers to make a new friend : ).

LOL I knew I was doing something wrong.

So I liked what Kenny had to say. As a former network photojournalist, i had a few tripods sitting around the garage. I took a set of calipers and my phone in its case and took some measurements. Instead of aluminium, which gets REALLy hot REALLY fast in the Texas sun, I used some Delrin Plastic. I threw it in a CNC Mill at work and came up with this mount for the tripod.

It works really well. My challenge now is getting more practice to learn where to best sit it to catch the most out of each swing.

PlaidJacket

We have a somewhat rare snow on the ground and it's currently 23*. I'm trapped. It's supposed to be sunny and 65 tomorrow. The snow will be melted away by 1:00. Yep.. that's the way it is here in Texas. Anyway... as I sit here I'm thinking about my next lesson tomorrow. We'll be doing to do some video of my swing also. As relating to the initial topic by Bogey, How do you Get Good Video of your Swing? ; I thought I'd share how I do it.

I use an excellent and FREE app called Ubersense. It's available for Android and iPhone. This app lets you easily shoot video and then markup your swing with lines, circles, etc. The Slo-mo is very good too. You can easily share your vids with your instructor or friends. Even if they don't have the app. Secondly, I also use a phone holder device called CamCaddy. It's easy to use and adjustable for phone size width and proper video shooting height. I've had the app and holder for about 2 years. Both work great. You don't need anyone to hold a phone for you which is actually better anyway. With the CamCaddy you'll get good steady video each time.

Lastly I'd also recommend getting yourself copy of Michael Breed's book, The Picture-Perfect Golf Swing. The Complete Guide to Golf Swing Video Analysis . He goes into great detail about how to properly position a camera to take the most accurate videos of your swing. The book also has lot's of good instruction and pictures that I find useful. It's an interesting and easy read.

In summary, the phone app is free. The CamCaddy is perhaps $20 and the book is $17.95 or less. So, for a $40 or less investment you can soon begin to take great videos and analyze you swing like never before. WARNING: unless you have a swing like Adam Scott be prepared for a dose of reality.

I mis-read the title of this thread, I though it said "How do you get a video of your GOOD swing"...

;)

Seriously though, I haven't had a video of my swing taken for at least 3 years and I'm not sure I really want one, as I think it would be a distraction.  If my swing is producing the results I want, which is what I'm trying to focus on, then I'm afraid I might think it "doesn't look right" and start making changes that could be counter productive.

Different strokes for different folks, and I'm probably a head case.  Most people probably do get benefits from recording their swing.  I just know that after the first few sessions my instructor recorded, I never bothered to review them anymore as I found them distracting.

I agree with you somewhat. Various teaching/training techniques work differently for most people. I'm disappointed that again today due to inclement weather I've had to cancel my lesson. We were going to do some video work today as well. I know of a lot of guys that never take any lessons/instruction much less do any video and are damn good. Quite frankly I can play myself into a pretty decent game without any instruction or watching a video of my swing. However, and what instruction does for me is help me go lower. It's easy generally with a higher handicap player to knock off a handful of strokes per round and lower a handicap several points. It's when golfers get down into the mid to lower single digit handicap ranges it becomes more difficult. For me, I'm stuck. I decided recently I needed some help. I can't play my way lower doing what I've been doing. I've committed to a season long series of lessons/instruction covering all aspects of the game. My goal is to get my handicap down to a 5 or less by late summer or fall.

I have no disagreement about the value of lessons, I'd probably have given up even trying to play the game had I not found a good instructor!

I just seem to follow instruction better manually than I do visually.  I found the "muscle memory" technique employed by the K-Vest more valuable than reviewing my swing on video.  I can have "too much" in my head and the videos seem to add to that.

Very interesting. I'm going to be using the K-Vest sometime soon. My first experience with it. I talked to my Pro/instructor this morning and he will arrange a time when we will both go to the club that has the vest, launch monitor, HS video, etc. and gather some information and data. I enjoy being on the practice tee with my instructor just doing basic observations and having discussion time. Incorporating the other stuff will just enhance our overall process and purpose. Hopefully I won't get head-locked. LOL

Any thing you can add regarding K-Vest I'd be interesting in hearing.

I use Ubersense now called HUDLTechnique a lot when teaching or capturing something while doing a fitting.  Works great with super slo mo on my Android Galaxy S5.  When giving a lesson or capturing my own swing the best thing I've found is a digital camera.  My current favorite is a Casio HS EXR 700.  Gives still shots, high speed video with multiple speed settings like 30 to 1000 FPS.  High speed rapid stills are good for some motion follow techniques.  1,000 FPS can be a bit blurred and 240 FPS works very well for teaching.  Editing tools make it a cinch to send a short clip complete with lines via email.  The cheapest tri-pod you can find works extremely well.  The high priced model in my tool kit is a waste.

The best tool is just a plain Handycam (cost around $300, just like a new driver? ).  Record your swing from the front and behind.  Upload it to your computer and use some video editing software to slow down the rate and save it.  Plain and simple.  I did this back in April and I noticed I had a lot of swing mistakes.   Fixed everything now.

An ipad would also works but it costs about $500 to buy a mini ipad now?

You could get one of these:  http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZKE7N4M/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2T2L1SZ9FUVAD&coliid=I1GNHYLEZSFCDJ  That's my plan.

:mizuno-small:

I use (not much lately) a free app now called Hudl Technique. It's for iPhone and Android. It's quite good to be honest. You can do all the things necessary to record and analyze your swing with this app. I also use a phone holder thing called CamCaddy. It's like an alignment stick with an adjustable holder for your phone. Works very well and is inexpensive. The app does slo-mo very well. Especially coupled with your phones already built-in slo-mo recording. With my Galaxy S5 I can almost get a clear look at the club head at impact. But not quite. Still it's plenty good enough for DIY.

Gogolf

My girlfriend has a selfie stick that I've been using to record my swing. It's been great because I can extend the selfie stick to the max and keep it in my golf bag - all I need to do is pivot the attachment so it captures my entire swing. Highly recommend it for an inexpensive workaround.

Plus it beats the awkwardness of asking someone in a neighboring stall to record your swing or asking a friend to tag along just so he can record your swing.

Thought of the selfie stick idea after my girlfriend and I brainstormed ideas to stop accompanying me to the range just to record my swing. Plus, some of the iPhone devices to capture your swings are expensive!

Great advice... a couple questions.

1. Do you record your swing from the side AND behind?

2. After you've got your swing recorded... what's next?  How do you analyze it and make any necessary changes?

Gogolf... you might want to go back to the start of this topic and read up a bit. Just a friendly suggestion. There is a proper way to setup and film your swing for maximum analyses.

Yep, took a video and hopefully this will help

Yep. I watched your vid Gogolf. That stick looks like a good/handy way to hold your phone. As the good player that you are your swing looked good in the vid you posted. However, It appeared that you are lining up the camera with the ball. I subscribe to the Michael Breed method of recording a golf swing. In his book, A Picture Perfect Swing Michael describes and shows you the correct camera positions. I'm recalling that he asks that you line up the camera about hip or hand high and inline with your body... not the ball. In a face on view it's pretty much the same. Position the camera waist high.

I suppose any video recording is better than none. Check out Breeds book if you're interested.

Thanks, I ordered the book online
