Easy Trip Planners Limited (EaseMyTrip) has announced the integration on WhatsApp messenger to book flight tickets. The company has revealed that with this integration customers can book flight tickets at competitive rates for their desired destination via WhatsApp.

Commenting on the development, Prashant Pitti, Whole-time Director, EaseMyTrip said, “As a part of our customer-centric approach, we have collaborated with Whatsapp-for-Business to come up with a technology solution in the form of EaseMyTrip Bot. This is especially convenient for customers who are on the move and short on time to explore multiple platforms in search of lowest fares & best deals.”

Meanwhile, WhatsApp has revealed that it will take legal action against those businesses who are engaged in automated or bulk Messaging to the users. The company will sue individual or businesses who are abusing the instant messaging platform with bulk messages. The company has revealed that sending bulk messages is a violation of its Terms and Conditions.

To recall, the company introduced WhatsApp Business in 2018 for its Android smartphone users. The app was designed to help businesses to get in touch with their customers. However, multiple businesses are using this to abuse customers with a bombardment of bulk messaging or automated messages.

Popular online travel portal EaseMyTrip on Wednesday has announced integration on WhatsApp messenger to book flight ticket bookings.

The integration will allow customers to book flight tickets at competitive rates for their desired destination through WhatsApp itself.

This association of EaseMyTrip with WhatsApp is significant to further develop its market in India in online flight ticket bookings.

The collaboration is expected to bring about convenience to the customers, as they don’t even have to visit any website/app to book flight tickets; they just have to send a message on WhatsApp. Moreover, the customer will keep receiving a price drop/increase alert on their WhatsApp related to the flight they searched.

The EaseMyTrip bot will also provide users with suggestive dates when they can get relatively lower prices for the flight-route they enquire for.

EaseMyTrip and WhatsApp team up to offer booking flights through the messaging platform.

Customers send their requests to the india-based online travel company and receive fare quotes back via the easemytrip bot on the facebook-owned whatsapp platform..

EaseMyTrip  also keeps users informed of price reduction or increases and dates when fares may be cheaper.

KLM claimed an airline first with its integration with WhatsApp for Business back in 2017 and uses the platform for confirmations and boarding passes as well as booking requests.

The carriers says it is getting 15,000 new subscribers every day.

TIC , a specialist in B2C communications technology, integrated WhatsApp last year, enabling its airport customers to communicate with passengers on flights and other services via the platform.

The messaging service is also adopted across the hotel industry but predominantly for post-booking services.

Thirdly, they are always looking to implement new channels that are being adopted by people in India.

To solve all of these challenges and have the ability to implement new ideas to improve their customer journey continuously, they needed a messaging partner that could help them start using new services quickly – one with quick to market solutions.

Implementing WhatsApp Business, Rich Communication Services, and SMS through Infobip

In order to address all these challenges, EaseMyTrip started working closely with Infobip in 2019, and has since implemented multiple channels.

The solution to improve EaseMyTrip’s customer communication was multi-fold – WhatsApp Business Platform , SMS , and RCS Business Messaging used over different stages and according to customer preference.

WhatsApp Business

With over 400 million users in India and the ability to support rich media capabilities, WhatsApp was the obvious choice to send pdf e-tickets to their customers conveniently. After the purchase of the ticket is performed on the EaseMyTrip site, their customer receives a WhatsApp message with a pdf e-ticket.

SMS is an established, and one of the most preferred communication channels in India. This is why EaseMyTrip uses Infobip’s platform for campaign creation to share the latest promotional deals with their customer base. The tool allows them to be flexible in both campaign creation and testing different approaches, while the URL tracking feature gives EaseMyTrip insight into their message engagement.

Lastly, Infobip helped EaseMyTrip with sharing time-critical information about flight changes. Whenever a flight is delayed, for example, an SMS containing vital information about it is triggered and sent to the exact target audience affected by this change.

RCS Business

Late in 2020, EaseMyTrip decided to test Rich Communications Services and see the impact the channel would have. After discussing the potential use cases with the team at Infobip, they decided to use the channel to run promotions and get feedback from their customers about traveling post-Covid.

As EaseMyTrip business is a 24/7 service, Infobip’s 24/7 support with local language and local presence ensured all the channels were running smoothly.

Better engagement and customer experience

EaseMyTrip was able to increase their engagement and improve customer experience with the use of SMS, RCS and WhatsApp in their communication efforts.

SMS helped their customers receive important flight information on time, while WhatsApp played a significant role in improving the customer experience as it proved to be an ideal solution that gave EaseMyTrip customers additional value and truly eased their trips and ticket bookings.

While tapping into the new chat channel, they also addressed the problem they had with their emails containing important flight details not being opened on time. With WhatsApp, the waiting time for customers’ responses dropped to an average of 10 minutes.

Seeing the positive impact WhatsApp has had on their day-to-day business, EaseMyTrip decided to upgrade their customer communication even further. They have developed a chatbot that helps users make new bookings and also receive price alerts. They are also enhancing the chatbot to provide customer support, which will help their customers easily discover their ideal trip.

After sending 5.5 million RCS messages, the new communication channel proved to be a success – compared to email, the open rate was 7% higher and the CTR almost 4x.

The elaborate campaign managed to fulfill multiple goals – resulting in 10 times more surveys filled and a 2.7% higher conversion rate, than a similar email campaign where customers used a promotional code to book their next trip.

The team at EaseMyTrip found excellent value in RCS because of the ability to define multiple customer journeys and enrich them with images and links, while also giving them complete control of the interactions.

Infobip solutions helped us improve the conversion of website visitors into customers. Implementing SMS has helped us in engaging our customers, while WhatsApp showed to be a great channel for our booking confirmation. They like the easy way they can manage their booking information. Also, Infobip provided great support with both their business and technical teams – enabling us to quickly go to market with new services.

‘Nation First, Business Later’: EaseMyTrip’s Message for its Users Amid India-Maldives Row

Mumbai: The Maldivian lawmakers’ disparaging statements about Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media have caused a rift in relations between India and the Maldives. As a result, reservations for hotels and flights have been cancelled. The travel company EaseMyTrip is providing exclusive discount codes for travel within India and has halted all reservations for travel to the Maldives. In particular, EaseMyTrip has spoken out a lot about this issue. Recently, it provided exclusive travel discount vouchers, and it has started sending WhatsApp messages. According to the travel firm, “nation first, business later” is its motto. It went on to say that people’s social media support in this area is a manifestation of their common love for the country. Additionally, the business asked customers to “stay united in this journey.” The company, in the viral post, said: “Being second largest and proudly home-grown travel company, EaseMyTrip is deeply committed to the dignity of its nation.” “We have taken a stand in response to the recent inappropriate and unprovoked remarks by multiple Maldivian ministers about India, its citizens and our Hon’ble PM,” the company that has gotten onto the ‘Boycott Maldives’ trend further explained. A new poll suggests the Tories could be left with just 72 seats - less than half the number they won in their worst election in 1906. Transport secretary Mark Harper told Trevor Phillips live on Sky News his party are "fighting for every vote".

Trevor Phillips is now talking to Lord Peter Mandelson, the former Labour communications chief and cabinet minister.

A key cog in the New Labour campaign machine, Lord Mandelson is asked by Trevor what he thinks has gone wrong for the Conservative attempt to get reelected.

Lord Mandelson says there are two in his view.

One is Rishi Sunak's failure to "repudiate" and reject Boris Johnson and Liz Truss, as that would have been needed to get "a hearing" from the public.

Secondly, Lord Mandelson says Mr Sunak is having to "constantly" outflank Reform UK on the right of the Tories, and that appeasing and throwing red meat to Nigel Farage he is only emboldening the former UKIP chief.

On Labour, Lord Mandelson is asked if he thought Sir Keir Starmer would get the Labour Party to where it is now.

The peer says a "lot of people underestimated Keir Starmer" - particularly because Labour had slumped to such a defeat under Jeremy Corbyn.

He says many people felt Labour "couldn't come back in one go".

Adrian Ramsay, the co-leader of the Green Party, says his group is setting a target of winning four seats in the general election.

This includes holding Brighton Pavilion, and winning Bristol Central, Waverley Valley and North Herefordshire.

Currently, the Green Party only has the one seat.

Mr Ramsay says these areas are ones where there is a "strong concentration of local support".

He says his party wants to try and push the next government to take a more green-friendly stance.

Trevor asks Mr Ramsay where the Greens would find the £350bn it wants to spend - close to the debt the UK incurred during COVID.

Mr Ramsay says his party wants to tax"multi-millionaires and billionaires" - and also implement a carbon tax to raise this amount of money.

Transport secretary Mark Harper tells Trevor Phillips that he believes the election "is not about the past" - and is rather about the future.

Mr Harper highlights his party's record on increasing schooling levels, before attacking Labour over tax.

He repeats that Labour will put up taxes if they take power - and the Conservatives are bringing it down.

Trevor challenges this, saying that the tax burden has risen to its highest level in decades under the Conservatives since 2010 - and is still set to go up further under the Tory's plans.

Mr Harper says: "I didn't say we had cut taxes over that period - I said we were cutting taxes."

 The Conservative minister claims Labour will raise multiple taxes as the move has not been rule out.

They are speaking after another poll showed the Tories are on the way to electoral wipe out.

Trevor repeatedly asks Mr Harper if the Conservatives do believe they can win.

The minister says his party are "fighting for every vote".

"I know what all the polls say, but it's about what people do when they're actually voting," Mr Harper says.

Mr Harper adds that he is "very much up for this fight".

When asked if the Conservatives talking about a Labour "supermajority" is an admission of defeat, Mr Harper says the polls are saying Labour will win a "very large majority" - and that it is "reasonable to point out" that this scenario will give Labour a "blank cheque".

He says voting for smaller parties will lead to Labour getting a bigger majority. 

Trevor Phillips asks Labour's shadow health secretary Wes Streeting if their claim that income tax will not go up is a "con".

He bases this point on the fact that Labour wants to keep income tax bands frozen - meaning more and more people are having to pay the higher tax rate on their wages.

Mr Streeting says "it isn't" a con, and that the position is a "reflection of the fact that the public finances are in a state". 

But the Labour politician does concede that the party is "not comfortable" with more and more people being dragged into higher tax brackets.

He says the shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves "has said she wants to reduce the burden on working people".

"But it comes back to the fundamental test of our manifesto - everything in it has to be a promise we can keep and a promise the country can afford. 

"Of course, we would like to go further on so many fronts, but we are dealing with a fundamentally weak economy."

As we reported at 7.48am  a thinktank has claimed both Labour and the Conservatives would see the NHS face spending cuts harsher than under austerity.

Asked about this on Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips, shadow health secretary Wes Streeting says he disagrees with the analysis.

Mr Streeting says the Labour manifesto is not "the grand sum total of any future budgets" and spending reviews.

He goes on: "Where Labour is making the fundamental argument at this election is, we've got to get the economy back to growth.

"Because if the economy had grown under this government at just the same rate it did under the last Labour government, there'd be tens of billions of pounds more to either invest in our public services or to put back in people's pockets."

He adds that NHS spending would go up "if conditions allow" in the next parliament, should Labour take over.

Mr Streeting says his party cannot do what the last Labour government did and say national insurance will go up by one pence as "families can't afford it". 

Shadow health secretary Wes Streeting is calling on junior doctors to cancel their strikes during the election period.

Newly qualified medics are set to take industrial action from 27 June to 2 July.

They are campaigning for full pay restoration to the level they had in 2008 - equivalent to a 35% rise.

Speaking to Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips, Mr Streeting says: "This government is incapable of resolving the dispute before polling day on 4 July.

"I don't think there's anything to be achieved by having strikes in the election campaign - the only thing we will see is more untold misery inflicted on patients who see their appointments and procedures delayed, and also junior doctors out of pocket."

Mr Streeting says that if Labour enters government, he will call the junior doctors' union on "day one" to begin talks to resolve the issue.

He adds that Labour "can't deliver" on the 35% as the money isn't there - but they are willing to negotiate.
