Vail Village's La Tour is dishing up three courses of Thanksgiving goodness this Thursday (including a pecan pie tartlet topped with pumpkin ice cream and a cinnamon crème anglaise)—although, you can cut to the chase and order La Tour's turkey entrèe à la carte for $25 and pair it with 25 percent discounts on select bottles of wine ($51 per person for three courses). latour-vail.com

Gessner at Hotel Talisa

11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Vail

Gessner 's creekside Thanksgiving buffet at Hotel Talisa (the space formerly known as the Cascade that underwent a glitzy, $60 million makeover and opened last year ) features all the traditional fare—plus, a seafood station with oysters and snow crab claws, and a mountain-sized dessert station complete with everything from pumpkin and pecan pie to root beer floats ($20 for kids, $60 for adults).  hoteltalisa.com

And if you'd rather enjoy your turkey from the comforts of home ...

The Four Seasons's steakhouse Flame might already be booked for Thanksgiving night dinner service, but you can still opt for to-go servings of everything from whole roasted turkey to sweet potato souflé courtesy of Flame's culinary team, with $35 from each order going to local nonprofit Vail Valley Salvation Army  ($275 per order, serves 4 to 6 people,  fourseasons.com  ). 

And if you need to feel the burn before you cook the bird ... 

Eagle-Vail's annual 5k Turkey Trot (November 22, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.;  youthpower365.org ) is welcome to all ages (and dogs, too!), and starts and finishes at the Eagle-Vail pool. Be sure to bring a few nonperishable items to donate to the Eagle River Valley Food Bank , and arrive a little early so you can join in on the pre-run group stretch—or opt for a Bloody Mary if you plan on simply spectating ($10 per person). Eagle's Brush Creek Elementary School will also be hosting a 5k Thanksgiving day race, which starts and finishes at the school (November 22, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., memberplanet.com ), with a 1-mile option available, too ($25 per person, $65 per family).

Exquisite dinner… among us we had the halibut, the salmon, and the steak. We started with amazing BBQ oysters, French onion ... soup, and the soup of the day—an incredible acorn squash and crab bisque. This was the upscale place we chose to have dinner at during our trip. Overall the food was mediocre for the price. Halibut was ... drier than expected. My partner who got the chicken entrée was also not that impressed. These dishes were about $49 and $39.For these prices I expected a melt in your mouth piece of fish and it was not that. The $7 bread basket was dry, cold, thinpieces of bread—expected something warmed up at least. It was also $8 per bottle of still water, and $10 for a small cup ofcappuccino that was prob 8oz. They charged an extra $6 for an extra shot on top of a $16 aperol spritz. I get that this is atourist spot but at least make the food good? I’ve paid comparable prices at restaurants before but I never left feelingregretful. Read more
