bmw charity pro am korn ferry tour

The 2024 BMW Charity Pro-Am final leaderboard is headed by winner Ryan Gerard, who topped the Korn Ferry Tour lederboard this week at Thornblade Club in Greer, South Carolina.

Gerard won his first Korn Ferry Tour event, pulling away from the field on Sunday for a dominant six-shot win in the two-course pro-am event. A final-round 66 brough Gerard to a 72-hole total of 26-under 259.

Seth Reeves finished in second this week, with Mr. 57, Cristobal del Solar finishing alone in third place to round out the medal stand.

Gerard won the $180,000 winner's share of the $1,000,000 purse.

Korn Ferry Tour Championship recap notes

Gerard earned 13.1 Official World Golf Ranking points with the win, which does help his world ranking, as he also gains 500 Korn Ferry Tour points. The top 30 players in the points standings at the end of the Korn Ferry Tour Championship earn PGA Tour cards for 2025.

This week the cut was made at 5-under 138 or better, with 67 players getting through to the final two rounds.

The 2024 Korn Ferry Tour schedule continues next week with the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Wichita Open and the US Open.

This korn ferry tour player went from broke college kid to a six-figure bank account in two weeks, share this article.

GREER, S.C. – Two weeks ago, Adrien Dumont de Chassart was a broke college student feeling disappointed that his University of Illinois team didn’t make it past the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament.

Today, he’s a proven pro with a six-digit bank account.

Dumont de Chassart, a 23-year-old in his first professional golf tournament, chased down the leader with a remarkable back nine Sunday and won the BMW Charity Pro-Am on an extra playoff hole at the Thornblade Club.

He beat 44-year-old veteran Josh Teater, who led all week and was looking for his second career win on the Korn Ferry Tour, a developmental league but also a repositioning league, especially in his case, for the PGA Tour.

After a weather delay of three and a half hours, Dumont de Chassart stormed to the top.

“I remember looking at the leaderboard at 13,” he said. “And then I kind of got on a roll.”

So it appears the friends of @adrienddc had more success than @Ahadwin on Sunday. (Nobody got tackled) Congrats on his first @KornFerryTour victory. pic.twitter.com/3lxSQsVAuG — Golfweek (@golfweek) June 12, 2023

Dumont de Chassart shot par on No. 12, where he was standing in the tee box when the weather siren emptied the course more than three hours earlier, and then went birdie, birdie, birdie, eagle.

Suddenly, he was one shot ahead of Teater, who didn’t have to look at the scoreboard to know what was happening in front of him.

Dumont de Chassart was picking off shots like it was as easy as picking apples off a tree.

And after making up five strokes on four holes, he pulled a Red Delicious out of his bag and chomped away down the fairway on 17. He bogeyed 18, however, to fall back into tie and a playoff.

They were going to keep playing 18 until dark, if necessary, to settle this. It took only one more time.

Dumont de Chassart chipped to within inches, made par, and Teater missed his potential tying putt.

“It’s pretty exciting,” Dumont de Chassart said. “I came here with no expectation. I just wanted to play my game and see where I was compared to all these players. I hit the ball very well this week. I had a great short game, too. I was cool to see I can compete at this level.”

Dumont de Chassart won $180,000. It was $90,000 more than second place.

“I’m not doing it for the money,” he said. “But that was pretty exciting stuff.”

Dumont de Chassart is a native of Belgium, where his family back home was watching well past midnight.

“They stayed up,” he said. “I’m glad they saw that.”

U.S. Open 2022: Brandon Matthews' power is his trademark, but his patience is what brought him here

1403102665

Patrick Smith

BROOKLINE. Mass. — On the 18th hole of The Country Club , a practice group that included Adam Scott and Thomas Pieters—neither of whom will be confused with short hitters—halted its procession to the green. Brandon Matthews still had to hit, and as per usual, he was sufficiently removed from the pack.

If there are small annoyances that come with being the longest player in golf, this might be one of them. Matthews almost always has to wait for his turn at the far edge of whatever fairways he plays, but golf rewards patience in more ways than one. After making the quarterfinal of the U.S. Amateur at The Country Club in 2013, Matthews took a circuitous route to his first major championship. He lost his Korn Ferry Tour status once, was relegated to the PGA Tour Latinoamerica and competed through a series of injuries that took an equal toll on his psyche. In his final 18 starts on the Korn Ferry in 2019, Matthews made just one cut.

“There’s always doubt that creeps in,” Matthews, 27, said. “I think 2019 was a tough year for me mentally, physically—nothing was going well. But that was also the greatest year for me because that year taught me how to handle the most adversity I faced. Coming back from that made me who I am today.”

It was 2019 when the Scranton, Pa., native also confronted the defining episode of his career, when he missed a short putt in a playoff for the 2019 Argentine Open after a fan shrieked in the gallery. Matthews lost the playoff, but was lauded for the grace he showed after learning the young man had Down syndrome . That year, Matthews also began his work with instructor Dale Gray, who sought to harness Matthews’ incredible power and develop a swing he could trust.

“He had such a two-way miss,” Gray said. He was hitting high blocks to the right, and also snap hooks to the left. It was a lot.”

In the intervening years, Matthews’ game has developed enough where he returned to the Korn Ferry Tour, and last week, crossed two significant thresholds in a span of a few days. After locking down a berth in the U.S. Open field in Final Qualifying in suburban New York, Matthews secured a PGA Tour card for 2022-23 with a final-round 67 in the BMW Charity Pro-Am.

So he returns to Brookline with job security, comfort with the course where he made a mark as an 18-year-old, and a new sense of how to pick his spots. With clubhead speeds of up to 135 mph, Matthews is likely to hit only four or five drivers at The Country Club, which means he might not have to wait as long for his approach shots.

“I’ve had some success here, but nine years has changed a lot,” Matthews said. “My maturity has gone up, but the way I approach the game, my mentality, everything is different. Every time I step onto this course, I can see the lines. I feel incredibly comfortable and incredibly confident. I can see the shots I want to hit.”

More than any technical element, Gray says a telling sign for Matthews is just in the small moments of a practice round, when he can see the player is more invested than usual.

“I can see when he’s committing and focusing on shots in practice rounds,” said Gray, who contends Matthews has the potential to be a top-10 player. “He has that this week. I think it’s going to be a fun week for him.”

Scottie Scheffler and PGA Tour's best players face a new course in mile-high Castle Pines

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — Scottie Scheffler could easily have chosen to sit out the BMW Championship to boost his chances of capping off his sensational season with the FedEx Cup.

Barring a victory by Xander Schauffele at Castle Pines, Scheffler is assured of being the No. 1 seed who starts the Tour Championship with a two-shot advantage.

The course is new to all but two players in the 50-man field — Adam Scott and Jason Day — having last hosted the world's best players in 2006. It's in the mile-high air south of Denver and is the longest course in PGA Tour history at 8,130 yards.

For players and caddies, it's like walking Kapalua with views of mountains instead of humpback whales breaching in the Pacific Ocean.

“The ball is going farther, but we’ve got to walk all that way,” Patrick Cantlay said.

And then next week it's back to steamy Atlanta and East Lake, a course where players won't be hitting pitching wedge from 200 yards to a downhill par 3 (as Justin Thomas did Wednesday).

“If I was to truly say I want to play my best golf at East Lake, this may have been a week where I would have taken off, just because there's so much emphasis on East Lake,” Scheffler said. “I kind of figured out this year I don't love playing the week before a major championship. So with East Lake having so much importance in the season-long race, if I was to truly look at my goal at the beginning of the year to win East Lake, this would have a week where I would consider maybe take off, especially with the points lead that I have.”

Justin Thomas chips onto the sixth green during the first...

But he was at Castle Pines, playing nine holes of a pro-am, working on the range in the early afternoon, trying to get dialed in with his swing and make adjustments to the altitude.

Scheffler has more experience than most. He played Korn Ferry Tour events in Colorado and Colombia. He played at Chapultepec in Mexico City for a World Golf Championship. He even took a family vacation this summer to Colorado and played in the thin air.

But it's mostly about the competition, as it usually is for Scheffler.

Until this year, he had never won a PGA Tour event after April. Now he has added titles in June and an Olympic gold medal in August. He has never won a FedEx Cup playoff event.

And the BMW Championship packs plenty of history, the one PGA Tour event that offers two trophies for his ever-expanding golf room — the BMW Championship and the Western Golf Association, which has run this tournament since 1899.

“I talk about not one trophy being much more important than another,” Scheffler said. “I would love to win the FedEx Cup, but I would also love to win this tournament. I've never won a playoff event before, so that would be something that would be really cool to do.

“We got the guys that have played the best golf on the PGA Tour here this week, and it should be some good competition.”

At stake this week, besides two trophies and $4 million to the winner, is a chance for the top 30 to advance to the season-ending Tour Championship. Also at stake is an automatic spot in the Presidents Cup to be played at the end of September at Royal Montreal.

The leading six Americans and six International players (from everywhere but Europe) qualify, and each side gets six wild-card picks.

Justin Thomas at least gets to audition. He was a captain's pick for the Ryder Cup last year despite not qualifying for the postseason. Now he is at No. 22 in the FedEx Cup with a strong probability of reaching East Lake. But he's at No. 16 in the Presidents Cup standings.

There is a mixture of comfort in the way he's playing and nervousness about perhaps having to wait for another captain's pick.

“Last year I had a lot of anxiety about making the Ryder Cup team. I want to make the Presidents Cup team just as bad,” Thomas said. “But I’m in such a better place and my game is in such a better place that I’m not coming to tournaments trying to play well to try to make a team. I feel that I’m fully capable and I’m playing well enough that I can win every tournament I’m playing in. It’s just about putting myself there and doing it.”

The challenge is Castle Pines. It may say 8,130 yards on the scorecard, but at elevation and how far the ball travels in mile-high air, it's probably closer to 7,400 yards, typical of a PGA Tour venue. There's also plenty of elevation, and the wind was so strong Wednesday morning it toppled large umbrellas in concession area.

The course for two decades used the modified Stableford scoring system, awarding points for birdies and better, taking away points for bogeys. Now it's stroke play. And being part of the FedEx Cup playoffs, it's all about points to see which 30 players move on.

The BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD SYNNEX – one of the longest-running tournaments on the Korn Ferry Tour schedule – will continue through at least 2027, as the Korn Ferry Tour, title sponsor BMW Manufacturing and presenting sponsor TD SYNNEX announced a four-year extension of the annual event.

A one-of-a-kind Korn Ferry Tour event featuring celebrities and amateurs playing alongside professionals, the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD SYNNEX is one of six Korn Ferry Tour tournaments which will be televised on Golf Channel this season. First played in 1992, this week marks the 31st playing of the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD SYNNEX. The only Korn Ferry Tour events which have been played more times than the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD SYNNEX are four tournaments from the inaugural 1990 season.

Competition at this week’s 2023 BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD SYNNEX, hosted by Thornblade Club and The Carolina Country Club, will take place Thursday, June 8 through Sunday, June 11.

“We are grateful to have the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD SYNNEX as part of the Korn Ferry Tour family,” said Korn Ferry Tour President Alex Baldwin. “Upstate South Carolina is an amazing community with supportive, passionate fans, and the BMW Charity Pro-Am continues to innovate and lead with its sustainability initiatives. With an ever-growing commitment to charitable giving and impact on the local community, we look forward to continuing our partnership with the BMW Charity Pro-Am for years to come.”

BMW Manufacturing’s Spartanburg plant in Greer, South Carolina began production in 1994 and currently produces more than 1,500 vehicles per day. The Spartanburg plant is the BMW Group’s only assembly facility in the United States.

“The BMW Charity Pro-Am has been a staple of the upstate community for decades and this extension is a win-win for all involved—from our residents, local businesses, and visitors to the featured charities, tournament partners and volunteers,” said BMW Manufacturing Manager of Government and Community Relations Max Metcalf. “BMW Manufacturing also looks forward to continuing to support this great annual event as part of our commitment to Upstate South Carolina.”

Sitting at the center of the technology partner system, TD SYNNEX is a leader in the IT industry with an unwavering passion for bringing compelling technology products, services, and solutions to the world. TD SYNNEX partners with the entire technology ecosystem to manage relentless transformation, execute confidently, and evolve to capture future opportunities. In addition to supporting Upstate charities through its sponsorship of the BMW Charity Pro-Am, TD SYNNEX Share the Magic has raised more than $18 million for Upstate charities since its inception in 2011.

“We are proud to renew our presenting sponsorship as part of the BMW Charity Pro-Am’s extension,” said TD SYNNEX Senior Vice President of North American Marketing Bob Stegner. “Just like TD SYNNEX, the tournament is fully committed to Upstate South Carolina, and we continue to recognize its significance, both from an economic impact perspective as well as the great impact it has on local charities.”

Thornblade Club in Greer, the host venue since 2008, is extending its partnership with the Korn Ferry Tour and BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD SYNNEX through 2027 as well.

“Thornblade Club is pleased to help showcase the upstate through our longstanding role as one of the two BMW Charity Pro-Am host courses,” said Thornblade Club General Manager Saeed Assadzandi. “This highly anticipated event continues to be a point-of-pride for our residents, club members and the larger community, and we look forward to being a part of its future success.”

Robby Shelton defeated Ben Griffin in a playoff and won the 2022 BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD SYNNEX. Both Shelton and Griffin went on to earn PGA TOUR cards at season’s end. Other notable champions of the event include six-time PGA TOUR winner Max Homa (2014), 13-time PGA TOUR winner and major champion David Toms (1995), as well as six-time Korn Ferry Tour winner Stephan Jaeger (2017).

Scheffler, PGA Tour’s best players face a new course in mile-high Castle Pines

At a glance.

Barring a victory by Xander Schauffele at Castle Pines, Scheffler is assured of being the No. 1 seed who starts the Tour Championship with a two-shot advantage.

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (AP) — Scottie Scheffler could easily have chosen to sit out the BMW Championship to boost his chances of capping off his sensational season with the FedEx Cup.

AP24231658564640.jpg

The course is new to all but two players in the 50-man field — Adam Scott and Jason Day — having last hosted the world’s best players in 2006. It’s in the mile-high air south of Denver and is the longest course in PGA Tour history at 8,130 yards.

For players and caddies, it’s like walking Kapalua with views of mountains instead of humpback whales breaching in the Pacific Ocean.

“The ball is going farther, but we’ve got to walk all that way,” Patrick Cantlay said.

And then next week it’s back to steamy Atlanta and East Lake, a course where players won’t be hitting pitching wedge from 200 yards to a downhill par 3 (as Justin Thomas did Wednesday).

“If I was to truly say I want to play my best golf at East Lake, this may have been a week where I would have taken off, just because there’s so much emphasis on East Lake,” Scheffler said. “I kind of figured out this year I don’t love playing the week before a major championship. So with East Lake having so much importance in the season-long race, if I was to truly look at my goal at the beginning of the year to win East Lake, this would have a week where I would consider maybe take off, especially with the points lead that I have.”

But it’s mostly about the competition, as it usually is for Scheffler.

Until this year, he had never won a PGA Tour event after April. Now he has added titles in June and an Olympic gold medal in August. He has never won a FedEx Cup playoff event.

Greer, S.C.

Tickets are on sale now , and volunteer registration is open.
