Animal Crossing New Horizons Dream Address Codes: How to visit Dream Islands

Do villagers dream of sleepy tapirs?

The first year of Animal Crossing: New Horizons is rapidly approaching its end, as the game will mark the first anniversary of its release on March 20th.

But thanks to a dedicated player base, whose love of the game has encouraged Nintendo to announce a second year of regular content updates , there are plenty of new things to see and do within the community — including plenty of cool and interesting Dream Islands to visit.

In the far-off days of last summer, Animal Crossing: New Horizons welcomed back another of the series' returning characters - Luna - an elegant tapir who has the hypnotic ability to astrally project players to Dream Islands from the comfort of their own bed.

Dreaming offers a number of benefits over ACNH's traditional multiplayer: it allows you to check out the island fantasies of other players without the frequent nightmare of lost connections and wonky internet; and unlike traditional travellers, dreamers can't actually make changes to the islands they're visiting, so it's a potentially much safer way to invite strangers to check out your island.

This vision of far-off islands is granted through the magic of Dream Address Codes , which let you visit new places without the other player having to be there all of the time.

Keep reading for the basics of how Dream Addresses work, where you can access your own Dream Code, where you can get other people’s Dream Address Codes, and our pick of the Best Dream Addresses you can visit in ACNH right now.

ACNH: How to visit Dream Islands

Acnh: how to share your dream address code, where to find acnh dream address codes, best dream islands you can visit right now.

Luna the Tapir first appeared in Animal Crossing New Leaf, where she had a whole shop related to dream-time hallucinations of visiting your friends’ islands.

The process of visiting Dream Islands has been simplified for New Horizons, so all you need is a soft bed in your home and the Dream Address Code of the island you would like to visit.

This can be any bed you have. There are no special requirements, other than that you will need a Nintendo Online subscription to join in.

When you lie down on the bed, you’ll be given the option to either get some sleep or just lie down.

Choose to go to sleep and you’ll be transported to Luna’s dream realm.

From here, say “I want to dream”. You’ll then be prompted to enter the Dream Address Code of the island you want to visit. Input the code and you’ll be whisked off to the dream version of that person’s island.

As of the November 2020 update, you can also request that Luna “Surprise me” with a visit to a random Dream Island instead.

It’s just like if you’d flown to an island normally, but with a few notable exceptions:

  • You can’t go to sleep with a wand outfit on, so properly change into the outfit you want to wear on your journey
  • You can’t take anything with you to the Dream Island, or bring anything back
  • The only “souvenir” you will be able to collect is any design on display in that island’s Custom Designs Portal (if they've made any)

Sharing your own Dream Address Code is easy.

All you need to do is sleep in a bed to visit Luna, then pick the second dialogue option to share your Dream Island.

This will upload the current version of your island to the internet and generate the Dream Address Code that you can give to friends and family in person, via in-game message, or through any other messaging app.

how to visit your own dream address acnh

If you make changes to your island and want them to be reflected in your Dream Island, you have to visit Luna again and upload those changes to the internet. You can do this once per day.

By uploading your island you agree to share some of your island’s data publicly. This data includes your in-game name, your passport info, the look of your entire island, rooms in homes, your custom designs, any bulletin-board posts, and “more”.

Dream Bell Exchange Tickets

Uploading your Dream Island to the internet pockets you a Dream Bell Exchange Ticket, which has no other use than to sell to Timmy and Tommy for some Bells.

You can find Dream Address Codes anywhere that you’d find QR and Able Sisters custom design codes .

This can be in YouTube Videos , by running a Twitter search , or by looking in designated Reddit threads (all linked in the previous sentence).

There's also the brilliant fan-site ACNHTour (linked) , which lists more than a thousand top-tier islands lovingly built by dedicated players. On their homepage click "Islands", and you'll be able to view the full list of submitted creations. Many of the more recent additions also list the creator's Dream Address, so you can visit the island yourself.

By now there are countless Dream Islands available to visit in ACNH, and with the introduction of the "Surprise me" feature that allows Luna to pick a random Dream Address for you to visit, it can be very fun just to send your character to sleep and see where they end up.

However, if you're looking for a little inspiration to get you started, here are a few of our favourite Dream Islands.

Disneyland a.k.a. "Cookie Resort" (DA-5064-2996-8566)

An Editor's Choice over on ACNHTour.com , the island of Cookie by user Ron Sao has been fully transformed into a loving recreation of Disneyland.

With trips to theme parks a distant memory for most of us at the start of 2021, it's a wonderful bit of escapism indeed to wander the park. The island of Cookie features ACNH-ified versions of nearly forty Disneyland locations, ranging from the iconic (like Main Street USA, Space Mountain, and the Haunted Mansion) to contemporary favourites (including Elsa's Castle from Frozen and the Pixar Pier).

The latest update to the Dream Address includes an overhaul for the festive season, so if you missed out on some of that enchanted Christmas magic this winter, it's sure to go some way towards scratching that itch.

Pro travelling tip: keep the ACNH Tour page open while you visit, as Ron Sao's detailed map of Cookie's various sectors comes in very handy — unless you want to relive a childhood trauma of getting very lost in Disneyland.

Grandma Audie's island (DA-3280-5622-8262)

Audrey Buchanan became a viral sensation in early 2019, when the then-87-year-old's grandson revealed on Twitter that she'd clocked up an impressive 3,500 hours on Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

"Grandma Audie" was a hit with Animal Crossing fans and even, it seems, within Nintendo itself — if their decision to name one of the eight new villagers in New Horizons "Audie" is anything to go by.

Now you can use the Dream Address above to visit Audie's ACNH island, where she's averaged three hours' playtime a day since the game launched.

You can also check out this incredibly wholesome video of Audie giving her grandson Paul a guided tour of Wells Island:

Twin Peaks (DA-7730-7085-1178)

When ACNH was released, a lot of players reported naming their island paradise after a favourite location from fiction — popular names included Derry (from the recent It movies), Arcadia Bay (the setting of the first two Life is Strange games), and many others in a similar vein.

Initially, ACNHTour user pnthr just wanted to pay a small homage to a beloved TV series with the name of their island. But after realising how many items in the game actually leant themselves neatly to the look and feel of the surreal crime drama, they decided to take things a step further.

how to visit your own dream address acnh

Now you can wander to your heart's content around an island that's chock full of references big and small to the original 1990s series, the prequel movie, and the 2010s revival of the cult classic show.

Ellegarden (DA-1270-8867-4174)

For a lot of us, playing ACNH has been the closest thing we've had to a foreign holiday in over a year. ACNHTour user kyri , creator of Ellegarden, has taken this to its logical conclusion.

They've repurposed their previously cottagecore themed island as a European Grand Tour in miniature, with sections inspired by Paris, Venice, Mykonos, and more. In the spirit of the winter season, there's even a traditional Bavarian Christmas market on there at the moment.

New Hyrule (DA-9114-1462-2579)

It's not the first time these two Nintendo franchises have met — there have actually been a small number of official crossovers in previous Animal Crossing games — and in fact, you even have your choice of Legend of Zelda themed ACNH islands to visit in Dreams.

But for my money, Twitter user @DaegaH has created an island that really captures the feel of the Zelda games. Rather than aiming to faithfully recreate any single game from the franchise, New Hyrule is an impressive Dream Island in that it has both a trailer and an actual story, with secrets and Easter Eggs you can uncover over the course of your visit.

I created a trailer for my Zelda themed island, I hope you all enjoy it. My dream address is DA-9114-1462-2579 if you want to come explore. #dreamaddress #acnhdreamaddress #acnh #animalcrossing #Zelda pic.twitter.com/welCrXbRq5 — Daega of New Hyrule (@DaegaH) August 5, 2020

Good Place (DA-3717-6450-2072)

Believe it or not, it's already been a year since we said goodbye to the acclaimed fantasy sitcom The Good Place. Ending on one of the most emotional finales in television history, The Good Place left us feeling satisfied without outstaying its welcome.

If you can't resist one more visit to Neighborhood 12358W, check out the island of Good Place, created by ACNHTour user geekpoppa . A faithful homage to the bright colour palette and wholesome veneer of the TV show's setting, Good Place makes great use of what ACNH has to offer even if you're not familiar with the source material. Plus, visiting it in a Dream feels especially appropriate.

Dreaming with luna: how to visit dream suite islands.

how to visit your own dream address acnh

The Dreaming feature with Luna, formerly known as the Dream Suite, in Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH) is a great way to easily visit other player’s islands online! Learn how to access and unlock the Dream realm in this guide.

What Is Dreaming & The Dream Suite?

Dreaming with the Dream Suite feature is an amazing new option in Version 1.4 of Animal Crossing: New Horizons that allows you to upload your island to Nintendo’s servers for other players to access on their accord.

After your island has been uploaded, you are given a unique Dream Address code that can be shared online with others allowing them to virtually visit the copy of your island on Nintendo’s servers.

how to visit your own dream address acnh

Because it’s a copy living on the Nintendo servers, your island can be visited even when you’re not online at the same time as someone else, or even haven’t played the game for weeks. Best of all, the Dream Suite allows your island to be fully explored without fear of vandalism as its only a copy.

Of course, you can visit other islands around the world easily in the same manner by entering another Dream Address code, making it super easy to explore design ideas to use on your own island and generally enjoy what the community has created!

Technically speaking, the Dream Suite as an actual physical building does not exist in Animal Crossing: New Horizons with your own bed being used instead. However in the previous series game New Leaf, this feature was known as the Dream Suite to many players, so we’re continuing to use that name in some places.

How To Access & Unlock Dream Suite with Luna

Accessing the Dream Suite feature is easier than ever before in Animal Crossing: New Horizons! All you need to do is place a bed-type furniture item somewhere in your character’s house, press on the analog stick towards it to lie down, and select the ‘Yeah, I want to sleep…’ option when prompted.

how to visit your own dream address acnh

If you can’t get that prompt to appear, make sure that you’re on a bed furniture item inside of your house, not outdoors. It’s likely that your Airport Gate needs to be closed as well.

Still not having any luck? Follow the three requirements below to make sure you have the Dreaming feature unlocked!

Upgrade Your Tent To A House

Sadly, the tent lifestyle isn’t classy enough for Luna to show up. In order to unlock and access the Dream Suite feature, you’ll need to upgrade your tent at least once to a full-fledged house!

Active Nintendo Switch Online Membership

Despite not being a form of active multiplayer, the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service is still required to visit other dream islands using the Dream Suite feature. Membership costs about $35 USD a year and you can find more details on how to subscribe here .

Update To Summer Update Wave Two — Version 1.4

Luna and the Dreaming feature has only been added to Animal Crossing: New Horizons with the Summer Update Wave Two releasing on July 30th, 2020. Check the title screen to make sure the version number in the top right corner is at least Version 1.4.0 or higher to dream in your bed!

Travel to islands in your dreams.

Dream Suite was introduced into Animal Crossing: New Horizons during its 1.4.0 patch and allows you to visit dream versions of islands created by other players.

By creating a Dream Address , you can show off your island to other players without having to worry about them taking advantage of your hospitality.

All you need is a comfortable bed and an Internet connection to explore the island dreams of other players.

On this page:

Dream Suite in Animal Crossing: New Horizons explained

How to access dream suite in animal crossing: new horizon, how to visit an island using dream suite in animal crossing: new horizons, how to create a dream address for dream suite in animal crossing: new horizons.

Dream Suite allows you to create a dream version of your island, which can be visited by other players. You also have the ability to visit dream versions of islands in New Horizons, as long as you have the right Dream Address.

how to visit your own dream address acnh

Visitors to these special dream islands will find themselves incapable of affecting the island in any way. This means no fruit stealing, cutting down trees or upsetting villagers. Instead, you can simply explore another's creation.

This makes Dream Suite perfect for players who want to show off their island, but are worried about it getting ruined by a rude guest.

You must, however, meet three conditions to use the Dream Suite. The first is that you've downloaded the 1.4.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons and the second is that you must be connected to the Internet. The third and final condition is that you must have an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription to use any of the online Animal Crossing services.

how to visit your own dream address acnh

The Dream Suite only becomes accessible after you've downloaded the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 1.4.0 update , which was released during July 2020.

Once you've done this Luna will send you a letter inviting you to join her in the Dream Suite and containing Luna's Bed.

how to visit your own dream address acnh

You don't, however, have to use this exact bed to visit the Dream Suite - any bed in New Horizons will do.

All you have to do is lie down on the bed and select 'Yeah, I want to sleep…' to be transported to the Dream Suite.

how to visit your own dream address acnh

If you decide to pick 'I'll just lie down' you'll use the bed as if it's just a regular piece of furniture and you'll have to stand up, then lie back down on the bed again to enter the Dream Suite.

If you want to use Dream Suite to visit an island in New Horizons, then you must first ensure that you have the Dream Address for another player's island.

Without a Dream Address you won't be able to travel to any island at all, so either ask your friends for their Dream Address or choose one that has been posted on the Animal Crossing: New Horizons subreddit .

Once you have a Dream Address, it's time to go sleep and visit Luna in the Dream Suite.

To visit a dream island, select the option 'I want to dream' and, after you've been connected to the Internet, input the Dream Address for the island you wish to visit.

Thanks to the free winter update released on Thursday, 19th November, you can now visit a randomly selected dream island by selecting 'Surprise me' before you input a Dream Address.

how to visit your own dream address acnh

Luna will then tell you the name of the island that you've submitted the code for and, if that's correct, choose 'Yes, it is!'

how to visit your own dream address acnh

You'll find yourself on your bed outside the Residential Services in the dream version of whichever island you've chosen to visit. You're now free to explore the island and talk to its residents all without causing an unnecessary destruction.

You can even find the other player, or players, have a small chat with them and explore their home.

Just remember - since you don't have any tools, this means that you can only fully explore the island if the player has built enough inclines and bridges. If they haven't, then those parts of the island will remain inaccessible to you.

how to visit your own dream address acnh

Finally, you'll also have access to the Custom Design Portal that belongs to that island's owner. Here you'll be able to browse their available designs and copy any that you might like.

When you're ready to wake up, lie back down on the bed and select the option, 'I want to wake up!' You'll wake up back in whichever bed you went to sleep in on your island.

The Animal Crossing 2.0 update and Happy Home Paradise is here! We can help you with the new additions - including where to find Brewster , Gyroids , new villagers , ordinances , new fences , storage shed , new hairstyles , Froggy Chair , group stretching and Kapp'n boat tours . Cooking is now unlockable, so you need to know how to make both flour and sugar , as well as how to grow carrots, potatoes and tomatoes . Meanwhile, if you're new to Animal Crossing, our New Horizons tips can help with the basics. From the off, there's fish and bugs to catch , flowers and fruit to grow with. One long term goal is building your Happy Home Academy score . Finally, you need tools such as the new ladder and vaulting pole to fully explore.

If you want to have other players visit your island using Dream Suite in New Horizons, then you need to create your own dream address. To do this select, 'I'd like to share a dream' from the menu Luna offers you.

how to visit your own dream address acnh

Before you create a Dream Address, however, it's important to note that by making and sharing a Dream Address you're allowing everything on your island to be made public. This includes the look of your island, rooms in your house, custom designs, your name, passport information and bulletin-board posts, among other things.

If you're not comfortable with any of this information being shared with other people, including strangers, then we highly recommend not making or sharing your Dream Address with other players.

If you've changed your mind about people being able to randomly visit the dream version of your island, you opt out of this setting by selecting 'About my island's dream...' and then select 'Adjust surprise sharing.'

Now simply tell Luna 'Stop sharing my dream.' You can also use this option to turn the random visit function back on.

how to visit your own dream address acnh

When you're ready to make a Dream Address, Luna will connect to the Internet and create a copy of your island. Once she's finished, she will tell you what your Dream Address is, which will start with DA and contain 12 digits.

You will be able to find your Dream Address on both your Passport and your island map. Luna will, however, remove your Dream Address from both of these if you ask her to.

how to visit your own dream address acnh

You can now share this address with other New Horizons players either amongst your circle of friends or on the Animal Crossing: New Horizons subreddit .

Remember - the dream version of your island will only reflect what your island looked like on the day you dreamt it. If you change anything on your island and want it to be represented in your dream, then you must return to Luna so she can update your dream.

Luna can update the dream version of your island once per day .

Hope you all have wonderful dreams!

An Animal Crossing character lays on a bed, surrounded by mist, in the middle of the town plaza

Animal Crossing: New Horizons now has a dream feature, allowing players to visit other islands without having to go to the airport. The other player doesn’t even need to be online. (To use dreams, you’ll need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.)

That said, you won’t be able to buy any items or pick any fruits if you’re visiting via a dream. This is mostly just to make it easier to share your creative vision with others. As an added bonus, it lets you invite people in without any fear of them trashing your place or stomping your flowers.

Luna, a tapir, will aid you in your sleep.

How to upload your island

When your lay in a bed in your house, it’ll ask if you want to sleep. Say yes, and you’ll see Luna, who will offer to help you out. To upload your island, tell her “I’d like to share a dream.”

After connecting to the internet, she’ll give you a Dream Address code to share that’ll represent your island. Your Dream Address will appear on your passport and on your map, so don’t stress about recording it when she tells you the code at first.

Note that you can only upload your island once a day.

How to visit other islands using dreams

After talking to Luna for the first time, you’ll be able to sleep at your house in any bed. Once you lay down, the game will ask if you want to dream. Select yes, and you’ll be enveloped in a purple fog before seeing Luna again. Tell her you “want to dream” and she’ll ask you for a Dream Address to enter. Once you input the island’s code, you’ll awake from your bed in front of the Resident Services of the island you chose to visit. As a reminder, you won’t be able to do much beyond taking in all the sights. But that’s fine!

When you’re ready to go back to your own island, just lay back in the bed.

Before you launch Animal Crossing: New Horizons on your Nintendo Switch, be sure you're connected to the internet to  download the latest software update . You'll need to be running version 1.4.0 or higher to access the new summer update content.

Related: How to Update Nintendo Switch Games

If you’re connected to the internet before you launch the game for the first time, the launcher will automatically notify you that a new software update is available.

If you missed the automatic update notification, navigate to the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game launcher on your Nintendo Switch Home screen. Press the Plus Sign (+) button on your right Joy-Con controller to open the "Options" menu.

You’ll see "Ver. 1.4.0" or higher in the top-left corner under the game title if you’re updated to the latest version. If not, select "Software Update," and then choose "Via the Internet" to download the latest update to your Nintendo Switch.

Press the "A" button on your controller to submit any changes. After the game updates and launches, a prompt will inform you that your save data will be updated to the latest version release.

To begin your dream-walking journey, take a nap in any bed in your house. If you don't have a bed, check your mailbox. Nintendo has sent players "Luna's Bed" just for accessing the update! After dozing off, you'll appear in a dream realm and be greeted by Luna.

Luna grants those who share their island a "Dream Address," which players can exchange and use to visit each other's islands in the dream-state. Think of it as a friend code  for dreaming.

Related: How to Connect With Friends in "Animal Crossing: New Horizons"

An internet connection is required and you must have a Nintendo Online membership to visit and receive visitors when accessing the new dreaming feature. Luna will remove all items from your inventory before you embark.

To invite people to your island, climb into a bed. You do this by tilting the directional analog controller next to the bed in your home. After you're in bed, select "Yeah, I Want to Sleep . . ." from the menu.

When you wake up, you're greeted by Luna. After a short introduction, Luna will ask if you'd like to dream or share your dream.

If you want to receive visitors to your dream island, select "I'd Like to Share a Dream." An internet connection is required to upload the current state of your island and share it as a "Dream."

Luna will give you a few warnings before you can upload your dream to the internet. First, when sharing the dream of your island, other players---including those you don't know---will be able to visit a version of your island. However, they can only do so if they have your 12-digit dream address code. They can also visit your island when you're offline.

This means player-generated data about your island and its residents will be public. This data includes all of the following:

  • Your character's name and passport information
  • What your entire island looks like
  • The rooms in homes
  • Your custom designs and bulletin-board posts

Visitors to your dream can also bring back any design on display in your Customs Designs Portal.

This is no different than inviting a friend or random players to visit your island, though. They can't make any changes to your island. However, as long as the dream address exists, anyone can visit it.

After you listen to Luna's rules and conditions, select "I'm Ready!"

Luna will connect to the internet to save your game, and then upload the current state of your island to a dream state. A 12-digit "Dream Address" you can share is assigned to the uploaded dream and it's also uploaded to her library. Anyone who has this 12-digit code can visit this dream state of your island.

You can talk to Luna once per day and request that she update the current state of your island to her dream library (the internet).

If you'd like to visit another player's dream island, a secure internet connection is required. When you're ready, repeat the steps above to locate a bed and fall asleep. Then, select "I Want to Dream" from Luna's list.

After the short introduction we explained above, Luna will ask if you're ready to visit another player's dream island. Choose "Yes, I Am!" from the menu. Luna will connect to the internet to save your game, and then you must input the dream address of the island you'd like to visit.

Input the 12-digit code, and then press the Plus Sign (+) button on your right Joy-Con controller to move forward.

Luna will ask you to confirm the name of the island you're visiting. If the name of the island is correct, select "Yes, It Is!" and Luna will connect to the internet.

When you appear on the dream island, Luna will give you a quick explanation of how things work. In dreams, nothing is permanent because nothing you do is saved, so explore to your heart's content.

When you're ready to leave, just hop back into bed and select "I Want to Wake Up!"

You'll wake up in your bed with your belongings returned to you.

By default, your character's dream address is set to appear on your passport and your island's map. If you don't want it displayed, you must ask Luna to change the settings.

To do so, hop into your bed to enter the dream state, and then select "Yeah, I Want to Sleep."

When Luna appears, select "About the Dream I Shared," and then choose "Adjust Dream Address Privacy." You can also delete a dream address by selecting "Delete the Dream."

Luna will present the option to change your dream address to private. Select "Yes. Make It Private" from her menu to do so. She'll confirm she's set your dream address to private. Press "B" on your right Joy-Con to exit the dream state.

You can confirm these changes once you're outside of Luna's dream realm. To confirm these changes, press the "ZL" shoulder-button on your left Joy-Con controller to bring up your Nook Phone menu.

Select "Passport" and take a look at your island's "Map" to make sure the dream address was removed. The image below shows what a passport looks like when the dream settings are "public."

There doesn't appear to be any way to visit another island without a dream address (sorry Animal Crossing: New Leaf fans!). With this new addition to the game, though, players can create a dream island to share creative and awe-inspiring designs and layouts with visitors.

Dreaming can be a fun way to visit a friend's island and get some inspiration without arranging a Dodo Airlines visit (which also requires your friend to be online).

Sweet dreams!

Unlucky Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Player Gets Trapped by NPC

Pokemon fan designs gen 1 sprite for magmortar, august 14 is going to be a big day for overwatch 2.

With the new Dream Island Tours feature added to  Animal Crossing: New Horizons , players may have some questions about dreaming and visiting others. Here's how players can access the dreaming feature and get their Dream Address from Luna.

Introduced with the Summer Update Wave 2 patch in Animal Crossing: New Horizons , Luna is the keeper of the dreams library, which allows players to jump to other players' islands, including those they are not friends with. Here are some tips and tricks to get started with the massive new dreaming feature, and how to get and share a Dream Address with other players.

RELATED: Animal Crossing: Every Bug and Fish That Is Leaving At The End Of July

Firstly, make sure to have Ver. 1.4.0 installed to Animal Crossing . If New Horizons has been updated to the newest version, it'll read Ver. 1.4.0 in the top right-hand corner of the main title screen. Then, in order to dream, obviously, players will need a bed. The bed needs to be inside the player's own home. No, they cannot navigate to a villager's home or put a bed outside to use this feature, so make sure to set up a bed inside to get a visit from Luna. The player will also need to be connected to the internet in order to upload their dream to the library, which allows others to visit a dream version of their island.

After climbing in bed, the player will be greeted by Luna, who will give them the general spiel of the Dream Island Tours . Following this, navigate to the second option after being asked "How may I be of assistance?" If the player has already shared their dream, the option will read "About the dream I shared..." Otherwise, they will need to click "Share my dream" and upload s dream version of their island before getting access to the Dream Address.

She will collect and compile the player's depiction of their island to upload it to the library for other players to visit, then  Luna will give the player their very own unique Dream Address , a number that begins with "DA" and will look similar to the Custom Designs codes. It would be wise to take a screenshot while it's shown on-screen, but should it be needed again, the player can always access their Dream Address number via their passport. However, players can also choose to not have the Dream Address shown on their passport.

Keep in mind that the player's island stored in Luna's library will not update as the player changes their island, so if they want a more up-to-date version of their Animal Crossing island accessible to others, they will need to re-upload it with Luna again. This can only be done once per day.

How to Find Your Animal Crossing: New Horizons Dream Address

Image of Lucas White

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is having a big day, today! Not only are we at the end of the month, we’re also on launch day of a new update. Sure, the August fireworks events are fun and all, but there are also permanent changes that came with the update as well. One of those, which we previously covered, is dreaming.

This lets players visit each others’ islands, but without letting them change anything. It’s a good way for strangers to show off their island and design efforts without risking the chaos that could result from live sharing. But to share your dream islands, first you have to establish your unique dream address code. So here’s how to get rolling in the realm of Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s metaphysical travel.

First you’ll need to be an active Nintendo Switch Online subscriber. Next, you’ll need to have upgraded your tent to a home, and have a bed inside. With the latest update, when you lay down in your bed you’ll get the option to go to sleep. From there you’ll be transported to an ethereal dreamland where you’ll meet Luna, a returning series character.

Related:  How Do Dreams Work In Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

When you’re talking to Luna, select the “I’d like to share a dream” option. The game will connect to the internet, and Luna will give you your 12-digit dream address code. From then on, you’ll be able to find your dream address on the map and passport screens. You can do this once a day, if you want to keep your dream island up to date.

Alternatively, if you want to visit someone else’s island, tell Luna you want to dream. You’ll be prompted to enter a dream address code (many of which you can find on social media spaces, if you just want to look at cool designs). From there you’ll wake up on the dream island by its Resident Services building. You can explore all you want, but you can’t make changes or bring anything back with you. Once you’re done, simply return to your bed and go back to sleep.

The Dream Suite - What Is Dreaming?

Visit other players' islands in your dreams.

Dreaming

Dreaming is a feature overseen by Luna the Tapir. By sleeping on a bed in your home, you will be able to visit the islands of other players! In order to do this you'll simply have to slip into any bed in your house.

Cannot Use During Network Maintenance

Error Code

Since Dreaming is an online activity, you will not be able to access it at points when there is an ongoing Network Maintenance. You will simply have to wait for the maintenance to end before you can continue Dreaming.

NSO Subscription Needed

Perhaps the most important thing to note about this feature is the fact that you will need a Nintendo Switch Online (Paid) subscription to use it. You can learn more about this membership from the Nintendo official website .

Get A Dream Bell Exchange Ticket

Dream Bell Exchange Tickets

You will get a Dream Bell Exchange Ticket for every time you upload or update your island! You will get these items in the mail the day after from Luna. They can be sold for 5,000 bells, but they don't seem to have any other uses than that. Read the article below for more detailed information.

Dream Suite Usage Guide

Overview of what you can do, almost no downsides to registering your island.

If you register your island and get a Dream Address, you'll be able to share your creations with people all over the world. Since visitors cannot make any permanent changes to your island, you won't have to worry about anything changing! There are practically no disadvantages to registering your island , in fact considering that you get 5000 Bells every time you update it, it's recommended to do so!

タヌポータル

▲You can see how many people visited your island using the Nook Link Mobile App!

Dreaming Main Commands

Dreaming

When you speak to Luna you'll get the above 4 options. To simply visit other islands, the first option will suffice! To share your island with others, you'll need to choose the second option and register it.

Dream Address Needed To Visit Other Islands

Dream Address

In order to visit other players' islands in your dreams, you'll need a special code called a Dream Address. After generating a Dream Address, you can update or delete your dream, as well as adjust privacy settings to determine who can see it.

Revisit A Dream Island Function (NEW!)

Revisit

As of Update 1.5.0 , you can now view a list of Dream Islands that you have already visited. This can be done by selecting "I want to dream" then "Revisit a dream".

Favorite Islands You Often Visit

Revisit Fave

You can also add certain islands you visited to your favorite list by pressing the "x" button. Use this function for easier access to your favorite islands!

Can Only Upload Once A Day

Dream Address Update

In order to get others to visit your island, you'll need to upload your island online. However, this can only be done once per day, so be careful!

How To Delete Your Dream Address

dream delete

If you want to delete your Dream Address, sleep on a bed in your house and meet Luna once again. Choose "About the dream I shared..." and ask her to delete your dream. Once deleted, your Dream Address will be invalid and other players won't be able to visit your island.

Set Your Greeting Via Your Passport

Passport

When players explore your island, they will be able to speak to an avatar of your character. When they do so, the message displayed in your passport will appear! Go to your passport and change the top comment in order to set a custom greeting for visitors!

Report With "-"

If you encounter content on an island that is inappropriate, you can report it and leave the island right away by pressing the "-" button on your Switch!

How To Leave An Island

Once you've started dreaming, the only way to leave an island is to return to the bed in the central plaza and lie on it! That's all there is to it!

Rescue Services Are Usable

Rescue Services

If you somehow get stuck on an island, you can still use the Rescue Services from your Nook Phone to be airlifted to safety. This feature will still cost Nook Miles and will take you to the central plaza.

Simultaneous Play Not Possible

Simultaneous

↑ Not the actual owner of the island, just an NPC version of them!

In the Dream Suite, it's not possible to play with other people simultaneously! The Dream Suite is fundamentally a single-player experience, whereas regular travel via the Airport is not! This is arguably the biggest difference between the two.

Don't Have To Worry About Vandalism

Given that others will be playing an instanced, non-live version of your island, you won't have to worry about others messing up your island! Play on a Dream Island will not influence the owner's real island in any way.

Can't Take or Bring Items

You can freely explore any island you visit in a dream, but it is not possible to bring items back from or leave items on that island! If you want to actually trade with someone, you'll have to use online or local play via the Airport.

Leave Tools For Visitors

ladder

If you want visitors to use tools such as the Ladder and Vaulting Pole, drop them on the ground so that they can be picked up and used! Players might need these to traverse cliffs and rivers.

Get Custom Designs

Custom

Although you can't get items while dreaming, there is one slight exception to this! By interacting with an object placed in the middle of each island's plaza, you can actually download Custom Designs from other players . If you find a design that you're particularly fond of, make sure to download it before leaving!

Appeared In New Leaf

New Leaf

↑ Luna welcoming you to the Dream Suite in New Leaf.

The Dream Suite was a facility first introduced in New Leaf, which was overseen by Luna the Tapir. It worked more or less the exact same way as the New Horizons one, with players being able to visit other villages in their dreams!

Able To Do The Same Things

New Leaf

↑ Luna telling you your Dream Address.

The exact functions of the Dream Suite will be more or less the same as they were in New Leaf, with one exception. There doesn't appear to be an actual physical building where Luna resides - instead it'll simply appear as an option when you go to sleep.

Creative Options Have Expanded

Due to the release of the Island Designer Tool in ACNH, players now have many more avenues of creating unique islands. The Dream Suite allows people to share these island designs with even greater ease, so it's likely that we'll see a lot of people making islands specifically designed for player exploration!

The Term "Dream Town" Isn't Used

The term "Dream Town" was used in previous games, but doesn't seem to be used in Animal Crossing: New Horizons by any of the NPCs. In New Horizons, players have "islands" instead of "towns", so this term isn't likely to see a lot of use.

Islands You Should Visit With Dream Address

Special thanks to all island designers.

We'd like to take time to thank all of the great ACNH creators for giving us permission to showcase your islands here - Thank you so much! We have a massively expanded version of this list available here, so make sure to check it out!

how to visit your own dream address acnh

I have 2 players on my island, would the second one be able to update the dream themselves too? Like both accounts in the same day.

Weird and highly specific question: if someone has a villager in boxes in a dream snapshot, can they be recruited from the dream?

Feel free to add your dream addresses on nookfriends.com

What is the Nook Link Mobile app? Is this on nook phone or your actual irl device?? Either way I don’t have it and I’m so confused lol

20 best Dream Addresses: Animal Crossing dream islands 2021

Acnh Dreams

For the past several months, I've seen hundreds of gorgeous Animal Crossing: New Horizons villages that have seemingly been terraformed and decorated by experts. Up until recently, I've had to admire these creations from afar by watching YouTube videos or getting lucky enough to get invited over by the owners. Well, all that changed with the Summer Wave 2 update , which has brought dreaming to the game.

Players can share their dream islands with others using an Animal Crossing Dream Address. The best part about it is that visitors can run around and look at your creations without affecting the "real" island. Since this is the case, several talented island curators have been sharing their Animal Crossing Dream Addresses publicly so others can admire their work. It's easy to see why this is one of the best Nintendo Switch games . We've looked around and gathered the most gorgeous islands we could find. Here are the best dream islands to visit in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

If you want any dreamland help, check out our guide and learn how to visit and create dream islands .

The 20 best dream islands to visit in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

There are so many amazing islands out there, but these, in particular, really caught our eye.

A Complete Breakdown of the Dream Address in 'Animal Crossing' (and How to Get It)

Updated Jul. 30 2020, 2:27 p.m. ET

Just when we thought that Animal Crossing: New Horizons couldn't get any more addicting, the popular game has added yet another cool feature , and gamers couldn't be more excited about it.

In case you missed it, Animal Crossing has added a new update where players can get their own dream address while they sleep. But what exactly does it mean, and how can gamers get one? Here's what you need to know.

What is a dream address in 'Animal Crossing'?

According to the game, it's defined as "an identity unique to each dream." The actual dream address is a 12-digit code that's provided by Luna, a tapir, while you sleep. And with this special code, you have the ability to visit other islands in your dream. However, since you're not physically there, you can't make any permanent changes or engage in much activity.

For instance, you can't pick flowers or purchase anything when you're visiting another town through your dream. But on a brighter note, you're free to explore tons of new places. And as an added bonus, you can invite others to your island by sharing your own dream address with them (though they can't change things on your island).

Afterward, your code displays on your Passport and island map, but you also have the option to hide this information.

Here's how you can get your dream address in 'Animal Crossing.'

First off, it's important to note that you'll need a Nintendo Switch Online membership to use this dreams feature. Once you have it, the first step is to lie down in bed or on a couch in your house. When you're asked if you want to sleep, respond with yes.

At this point, Luna should appear with a welcome message and a pop-up menu, listing all the ways that she can assist. From that list, choose "I'd like to share a dream." She'll then connect you to the internet and upload your dream before informing you of your dream address, which typically starts with "DA."

During this process, Luna instructs you on how to share your dream with others, noting that dreams won't reflect any changes after it's uploaded. Keep in mind, though, that it can only be updated once a day.

How do I visit other people's islands?

You won't be able to do this until after your first encounter with Luna. But after you lie down, make sure to choose "I want to dream." Once you're prompted to enter a dream address, add the address code for the Island that you want to visit. After you do this, you'll find yourself in the Resident Services on that island.

Is it possible to visit people's islands when they're not online?

Another bonus about this update is that you're free to visit other people's islands, even when they're offline (meaning that they're not there in real-time). Once again, you're free to roam and explore, but no changes will be uploaded to the other person's island.

If you're feeling adventurous, you might want to give this feature a try!

"Just an Island" as the name translates to belongs to Yuu~, and is an island overflowing with trees and nature in the best possible way! It also offers many different sights to see, like an area with fossils, so it's truly a perfect island for adventuring!

Annaberg Island

A rustic island bustling with nature, Annaberg Island is a simple town where you can feel the flowers and trees swaying through the wind. Although it is still an unfinished island, it is, overall, still a nice island to visit.

Butter Chicken Island

Don't let the name of Macharo 's island fool you! Butter Chicken Island tells a story of social issues. When you visit the island, you'll see illegal garbage dumps, an abandoned amusement park, and even homeless compounds! Each locale is rich in storytelling, and despite this atmosphere, the residents of the island are doing their best!

Myabi's iEnoshima is a beautiful island that captures the look and feel of Enoshima, a small island off the coast of Japan. If you have never been to Enoshima, visting this dream island recreates the feeling of going to it during summer.

Kohaku Island (Amber Island)

A botanical resort bathed in pink, Kohaku Island (Amber Island) is teeming with nature where you can sit down and relax. The creator, Occy , commented that a few of their custom designs are saved from other players but most of them are created by them.

While the many lovely gardens and nature spots on Kohaku Island (Amber Island) are definitely a must-see, we also strongly recommend checking out Aa-Tan 's well decorated residential areas!

Konpei Island

Pomu's Konpei Island is a simple island overall. However, its decoration along with the natural atmosphere gives it a relaxing feel. There are different areas such as a Japanese-style area on the upper left part of the island, and a school on the upper right. The island may look simple, but the sceneries will surprise you as you go around!

Kotobuki Island

Nekobo 's Kotobuki Island is rich with nature, with the general shape and locales of the island organized naturally. The sound of cicadas and rushing waterfalls will delight your senses and make you feel at ease. The island also has several secret passages, urging visitors to go off the beaten path when exploring.

Laze About Island

Ryu's Laze About Island is no regular tourist island. Filled with brown and dark tones, the town's concept is an "abandoned island". Each item and furniture displayed outside is well-thought out and unified. Take a visit to appreciate the rustic feel of the island.

Post Your Images on Twitter!

You can use the hashtag「#だらだら島日記」 (#LazeAboutIslandDiary) when you visit, which can be seen by the island creator.

Makoi Island

Makoi Island was made by the amazing Denim2, who also recreated the trodden down dirt part popular all over the world. Well put-together with dark tones and a natural feel, it's no surprise that this island had over 1,000 visitors just moments after Dream Suite went live! How to Make ACNL Dirt Paths

Omochi Island

Omochi Island is characterized by its natural setting. Using an alternative version of the natural dirth path and lots of furniture, Luna has certainly enriched and emphasized the natural look of the island! The island is fixed on the day when there's a meteor shower. This, along with the mushroom lamps and star fragments, gently illuminate the island - creating a serene and comfortable atmosphere.

Soreiyu Island (Soleil Island)

Soleil Island created by Akane has the perfect balance between nature and furniture. There are many places where you can simply relax and take in the scenery without feeling overwhelmed by items, perfect after a long week of terraforming!

Tako Tako Island

Octis' Tako Tako Island has a creepy feeling to it. While it seem like a heartwarming island at first, it has strange sights such as an arena and an area with eerily placed human models, giving this island a bright but horror-like scenery.

Yuipi Island

Yuipi Island is mostly inspired by the countryside in the West. A simple town where animals and players can relax in peace. The ruins at the end of the island is a great viewing area, the creator commented.
