The Scrubba, packing cubes, and massager all sound great to me! But my favorite gift is experience. I started giving these a few years ago and have come up with creative ways to still have a package under the tree for the recipient. It started when I put admission tickets in a box, put that box in a box, and put that box in a box for my sister to unwrap. Last year I gave a “family trip in a box”, which had a Groupon for family admission and a gift card for gas and snacks for the way there. This year, I shouldn’t share all my gift-giving yet, but a pilot I babysit for is giving me standby tickets to Maui! I am passing one of those tickets on to my sister, and I’ve come up with a great idea for how she can unwrap it on Christmas morning!

That sounds like the perfect gift!

When we pass through TSA Security, my husband is often asked to remove his belt because it has a metal buckle. However, we were surprised when he was recently asked to take his belt off at security before boarding a tourist boat to visit the Statue of Liberty. What a hassle!

Lil nipper automatic nail clipper.

To be honest, we had never heard of an automatic nail clipper and after we did, we had doubts that it would really work. But this little gadget, perfect for travel, is truly amazing.

If you are right-handed, did you ever try to clip the nails on your right hand? It’s tough. And being a lefty doesn’t make it any easier on your left hand.

If you have the slightest bit of hand arthritis, clipping nails on either hand can be challenging.

What we loved about the Lil Nipper:

• It truly is compact and little, about 2.5 x 1.25 x 1.75 inches, and easy to fit in a toiletry kit. 
• The gadget catches clipping in a hidden mess-free compartment that opens for disposal.
• It is antimicrobial to reduce the spread of germs and bacteria.
• When you turn the Lil Nipper on, a small LED light turns on automatically to help you see what you’re doing.
• The rechargeable battery lasts for about 50 charges so you don’t have to worry about bringing the cord on your trip.
• It really works well and doesn’t require sharpening.

Caveat: We wish it came with a little glass nail file although it does a pretty good job of clipping so your nails are snag-free.

Kindle E-Reader

Even the most voracious reader doesn’t want to lug heavy books or even a stack of paperbacks on a trip. 

A Kindle e-reader makes it easy to download his favorites and have them with him when he encounters unexpected travel delays, is on a long-haul flight, or is relaxing at a hotel or resort. 

What we like about the new 2022 Kindle:

• It’s the lightest and smallest Kindle yet, weighing in at less than 6 ounces. It is compact at 4×6 inches.
• It comes with a charging cable.
• The battery doesn’t need frequent charging and can last up to six hours.
• It’s one of the most inexpensive Kindles available, a good choice for people who haven’t had Kindles before.
• It’s the antidote for aging eyes because the size of the text can be adjusted. No book can do that!
• Because the device is backlit, it’s perfect for reading in bed without bothering a companion.

Caveat: Reading books can be addictive. You do have to purchase e-books for download but many public libraries offer them for free.

What we like about the Gonex Dopp Kit:

Dopp kits (travel bags used to stash toiletries) come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Their main role: Keeping your personal care and grooming accessories separated so they don’t spill or soil other things in your suitcase.

• We love this one because it is ultra-light yet right-sized (10.23 x 4.72 x 5.7). It weighs about 4 ounces (unfilled, of course).
• It has three separate compartments. A mesh divider allows you to see your smaller toiletries in one compartment; the larger compartment is perfect for holding shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste or other larger items. The outside compartment is handy for your smallest items.
• The nylon fabric is water resistant (in case you place it on a wet counter), the zippers are durable, and the side handle makes it easy to carry.
• It comes in a rainbow of six different colors. We like the red one because it’s easy to spot in a bag and is less likely to get left behind in a hotel bathroom.

Caveat : The toiletry kit is not waterproof (it’s only water resistant) so be careful that any liquids placed inside are tightly closed.

Caveat: At a crowded airport, you need to keep your eye on any valuables you put in the holder.

MASKC K95 Mask

Even if the rules are changing and masks aren’t required on most types of public transport, we have still been hearing about too many friends returning from a trip with COVID.

I initially found these masks for me, wow-ed by the beautiful colors and then appreciating them for comfort. Then I purchased a 10-pack of the black ones for my husband and these are his favorite go-to-masks.

• Of course, first and foremost, we like the protection they afford. They can’t keep you totally safe but even one-way masking significantly reduces the odds that you’ll come down with COVID.
• These masks may even protect you from colds and other viruses often resulting from long-haul flying. Unfortunately, even when passengers are too sick to fly , they do! 
• The masks hold up well with multiple uses.
• They are lightweight and extremely comfortable to wear.
• While they offer protection, they are small enough to keep handy in a shirt or jacket pocket.

Caveat: They are more expensive than surgical masks but far more protective and durable.

When you’re traveling internationally, you may be asked to present your passport and/or.vaccine card.

It’s great to have it in a holder that you can easily pull out of your pocket for inspection.

TagVault for Apple AirTag 

I recently lost my wallet (rather, it was stolen). Recovering from the loss of a wallet is a nightmare both emotionally and logistically.

When I went to the local police station to file a report with my local police station, the officer on duty suggested that I carry an AirTag electronic tracker  in my wallet in the future.

When I looked into the options, I decided to purchase this flexible AirTag holder, called  TagVault , that you can slip into a wallet. It is just about the size of a credit card (although slightly shorter to stay hidden) and it adds no thickness to the AirTag.

What we like about the TagVault

• It’s made of lightweight and easy to tuck in a wallet.
• It’s made of a soft, flexible plastic that takes up little space.
• It comes in black, white or blue (I chose blue because I always lose black electronics and gadgets).
• It’s inexpensive.  

Caveat: You need to purchase the AirTag separately.

Easy-On, Easy-Off Slip-On Loafers for Breezing Thru Airports

Save time and the hassle of tying and untying sneakers when you’re going through TSA Security at the airport. These Skecher Slip-On Loafers will also feel good on those long walks between gates.

We are addicted to our electric toothbrushes at home but often wondered whether we should travel with them because they take up so much room.

Caveat: The brush is probably not as powerful as the one you have at home so don’t expect it to vibrate the same way.

When we travel, one of the comforts we miss from home is our flosser. Most travel flossers, even though smaller than home versions, are still bulky.

We recently tried three different travel flossers and this great little flosser beat out the rest. We loved it!

What we liked about this Synhope compact flosser:

• It is truly compact; it fits in the palm of your hand. Whether or not to take it with you is a no-brainer.
• It comes with a little drawstring pouch for travel.
• It’s cordless, easy to use and comes with a choice of four different tips.
• The flosser has three different pulse speeds.
• It has a long battery life (30 hours) and can be recharged with a USB cable (included).

Caveat: The water capacity is limited by its size but is certainly enough for a floss.

There are so many devices that you need when you’re traveling, whether it’s smartphones, camera batteries, iPads, iPods, Kindles, or something else.

• Compact and weighing less than three ounces, it’s convenient to throw into a carry-on or suitcase.

We wish we had brought this gadget on our last trip to Europe.

Caveat: You won’t need to use this device if you already have dual voltage appliances (e.g., computers, some haIrdryers).

Addtam Power Strip

Whether you are on a cruise or staying at a hotel, this cleverly-designed lay-flat power strip is convenient for charging all your electronics.

What we like about the Addtam power strip

• It’s compact and won’t take up unnecessary space. This comes in especially handy on cruise ships where nightstands can be very small.
• The AC outlets are spaced extra wide with 2.4 inches between them, much larger than the standard 1.5-inch socket. This makes it work well with the bulky adapters that come with laptops and other electronic gadgets.
• Although compact it has three regular outlets, four USB ports (2 of them USB C) and offers no-surge protection.

Caveat: The charger only works with 110 current so it isn’t useful for European travel.

Panasonic Travel Razor

This compact, battery-operated shaver can be used on his face or on a beard and it is small enough and light enough (weighing less than 3 ounces) to stash in a bag or suitcase. 

What we like about the Panasonic Travel Razor:

• It’s small but sturdy with a strong motor.
• You won’t need to bring the charger on most trips. 
• If you run out of batteries on the road without a charger, the AA batteries are easy to find and replace.
• It comes with a plastic guard to protect the razor head but doesn’t have or require a case. This means it is lighter and doesn’t take up as much space as one with a case.
• The price point is extremely competitive!

Caveat: The case is plastic but is very attractive but not as durable as metal.

What we like about C.O. Bigelow Travel Size Shaving Cream

If you travel with a disposable razor to save weight and space in your dopp kit , you might be tempted to leave a clunky can of aerosol shaving cream at home.

Taking this small tube of Bigelow shaving cream will save you from unnecessary skin irritation.

• The combination of coconut and eucalyptus oil are soothing and prevent razor burn on all types of skin.
• It leaves a refreshing menthol tingle.
• We love the 1.7-ounce size, which happens to be TSA-compliant, but it also comes in larger sizes for lengthier trips.
• It’s sold by the oldest apothecary in New York and sourced in Italy.

Caveat: Unlike a can, you’ll need to use two hands to dispense it.

This set of three attractive and lightweight bags helps organize your luggage without adding any heft.

It has an antimicrobial shoe organizer for dirty shoes, a medium bag with an internal divider to separate clean from dirty items, and a space-saving compression packing cube. 

What we like about the Eagle Creek Pack-It Essentials Kit:

• Eagle Creek products are all made to last; the Essentials Kit has self-repairing zippers.
• The poly fabric is ultra-lightweight and durable.
• Buying a set is more cost-effective than making individual purchases. And you’ll definitely want more than one! 

Caveat: Although these attractive bags come in a variety of colors, we tend to stay away from black. The bright ones are easier to find in your stuffed suitcase.

What we like about the Apple AirTag

• It offers travelers peace of mind by letting them know the whereabouts of their luggage (e.g. whether it make it onto the plane during the very short layover).
• It is affordable and makes a great little gift.
• It weighs only .39 ounces.
• The battery is long-lasting.

Caveat: It requires a key ring or loop to make sure it doesn’t get lost.

Anti-Itch Bug Pen

This is the niftiest fix for anyone who ends up with a bug bit. In the shape of a pen, it’s easy to keep in a dopp kit, backpack or pocket.

Dabbing on the bite provides instant itch relief for bites from mosquitoes, fleas, ticks and other common insects.

What we like about After Bite

• It is compact, non-drip and easy to use. 
• It works quickly and provides relief in minutes.

Caveat: It’s a bit expensive but how much is it worth to stop an annoying itch?

This compact travel umbrella is convenient for any traveler, whether they’re going abroad or into the city for the day. It comes in a variety of colors.

What we like about this Sy Mini Umbrella

• It’s compact and lightweight (7.5 ounces).
• It’s easily stashed in a purse or briefcase.
• The aluminum frame is rust-resistant.

Caveat: If you are looking for fuller coverage, you don’t want a mini. This one is  37.5 inch when open. It also doesn’t open automatically.

Folding Beard Comb

This sandalwood comb with its own case sure ranks high on the cuteness scale.

What we like about the Folding Beard Comb

• It’s unique, he probably doesn’t have one.
• It’s perfect for the bearded traveler who wants to be well groomed without knots or food from his last meal stuck in the crosshairs.
• It’s easy to stash because it’s only 4” when folded.

Caveat: Does he really need it?

Travel Shoe Bags

One never knows what they’ve stepped in on the street. With this uncertainty, you don’t want shoes to have direct contact with your clothes. 

These nylon shoe bags don’t add any weight or take up space in your suitcase. Yet, theyt allow you to separate sneakers or shoes from underwear and more.

What we like about the Shengqidz shoe bags:

• They’re easy to use with a drawstring opening.
• The clear “window” at the bottom of each bag allows you to easily see what’s inside.
• Unless someone has a shoe fetish, the pack of 5 bags allows the gift recipient to share the set with a travel companion.

Caveat: They’re not high-quality but they’re inexpensive and can be replaced from time to time.

Have you ever found a bottle of wine or spirits during your travels that you want to take home and loathe the idea of wrapping it in a towel and possibly having it break in your suitcase?

• It’s comfortable and molds to your neck.
• It’s easy to inflate for use and deflate for storage.
• It’s covered with an attractive, breathable fabric that can be removed for washing.
• It’s lightweight (.6 lb.) and compresses into a small bag that you can easily tie to your suitcase.
• It’s gift-ready in a box with earplugs and an eye mask.

Caveat: The downside: It has to be inflated. The upside: You don’t have to carry a bulky pillow with you.

Portable Luggage Scale

Travel is stressful enough without having to worry about overweight luggage. Having this handy little scale with him before he goes eliminates the guesswork.

He can transfer items to a carry-on or leave them at home if the weight is a tad over. If you’ve done too much shopping while traveling, you can see whether it’s more cost-effective to mail a package home rather than pay the airline.

What we liked about the portable luggage scale:

• It’s small enough to tuck into a carry-on or briefcase.
• This scale measures weights up to 110 pounds.
• It has a convenient digital readout.
• It comes with a two-year warranty.

Caveat:  If he’s the kind of person that accumulates papers and souvenirs, it’s can’t be left at home. It may be even more important for him to weigh his suitcase before he heads home. 

Sea-Band Anti-Nausea Wristbands

If you’re taking a cruise and have any tendency towards seasickness, you’ll definitely want to have these anti-nausea wristbands with you.

Ironically, one of our friends took a cruise with no ill effects but realized she had to wear these to prevent nausea on long tour bus rides.

What we liked about the anti-nausea wristbands:

• They can be used to help prevent nausea and also to alleviate it once it’s started.
• They offer relief without the use of medications and their potential side effects.
• If you choose, they can be used with Dramamine.
• They don’t make wearers feel drowsy.
• Easy to put on, carry, and pack “just in case.” 

Caveat: Although these wristbands receive highly positive reviews on Amazon, like any remedy, they don’t work for everyone. 

Iron Flask Sports Water Bottle

If you’re on a day trip or hike, you may not have access to fresh water or find the cost of purchasing bottled water exorbitant. Bringing your own water bottle can be a prudent choice.

This Iron Flask stainless steel, insulated sports water bottle comes in a range of different sizes and colors to suit any traveler’s needs. 

What we liked about the Iron Flask Water Bottle:

• It keeps drinks hot for 12 hours or cold for 24 hours.
• The lid is leakproof so you don’t have to worry about stowing it in a backpack.
• It’s 100% BPA-free, non-toxic, and guaranteed never to rust.

Caveat: A small number of the almost 24,000 reviewers on Amazon say they didn’t like drinking from the spout (but it also comes with straws).   I don’t mind it at all.

Portable Watch Charger

Anyone who owns an Apple watch comes to rely on it for so many different functions. The one closest to my heart is using it to find my misplaced iPhone. If you run out of “juice,” this Portable Apple Watch Charger will restore your watch to full power in 2-2.5 hours.

What we liked about the Portable Watch Charger:

• It’s compact and lightweight (just over two ounces).
• It conveniently fits in a pocket or backpack.
• It comes with its own micro USB cable for recharging. 
• the watch is Apple-compatible but relatively inexpensive. 

Caveat: When you desperately need a charge, you hope the device might do it a bit more quickly.

LG PuriCare Mini Air Purifier

We’ve been using an air purifier at home, both in our bedroom and in our home offices, to remove allergens and pollutants from the air. EPA guidance suggests that portable air filters can also help lessen the risks of airborne viruses.

Given that COVID is still a concern, we love this little air purifier for travel that gives us some peace of mind. Ultra-compact, it’s about the same size and weight as a water bottle.

What we like about the LG Mini Air Purifier

• The compact size (about 3”x3”x8”) and relatively lightweight (1.17 pounds) make it extremely portable and perfect for use in a hotel room or bedroom in a rental property. Some people even use it in rental cars.
• It’s attractive with a convenient saddle-color leather handle strap.
• A four-color display on the air purifier alerts you to the air quality in your room.
• It’s Bluetooth enabled so you can sync it to your smartphone to monitor battery level, filter information, and more.
• It comes with the necessary lithium-ion battery.

Caveat: Although great for a road trip, when we are packing for a trip overseas, we have to seriously think about whether or not to add the weight of the purifier to our suitcase.

The Ultimate Packing List

If he’s a last-minute packer, a forgetful one or an obsessive, he’ll love having a packing list to make sure he’s not leaving anything important behind.

What we like about this packing list: 

• The list is exhaustive with space to add additional items.

The Solo Re:Define Backpack nailed the highest scores for all of our testing categories, but it really beats out the competition for its functionality and level of comfort. Despite how small the backpack looks, it has the capacity to do more than meets the eye. When it came time to pack for a trip, we could fit our laptop, a tablet, clothes, a pair of shoes, a toiletry bag, and still had room to store more. Even with all of those items inside, the backpack never felt cumbersome or heavy because it redistributes its weight so that it comfortably rests more on the back of your hips than on your shoulders. Plus, the bag is made from PET recycled bottles, which means even when it's fully packed, it remains light enough to lift and fit in the overhead bin on the plane.

The fabric is water-repellent and anti-microbial, and you can clean it with wipes. After using this backpack for months, there were no marks of wear and tear. We love that straps are nicely padded and adjustable for a customizable fit, and the zippers run as smooth as butter — requiring zero effort to open and close them. Other convenient elements include a RFID protection pocket for security measures, two water bottle pockets on each side, and a battery pack pocket inside the main cavity that connects to a USB port for on-the-go charging. Hands down, it’s one of the most comfortable and well-fitting backpacks we've ever tested.

They are not as waterproof as we imagined.

Ideal for business trips, outdoor camping, and daily storage, this four-piece set of compression packing cubes is superior in durability and quality. We tested the no-frills packing cubes during some intense traveling over the course of six months and were very impressed with how each of them held up. After being totally stuffed with clothes and skincare essentials, the tough zippers easily closed around the packed items without any signs of stress. Once everything was secured, we squeezed the air out and compressed the bag, which helped dramatically reduce the space. And even though we packed the cubes to the brim, the seams remained intact.

While the nylon material has proven to be sturdy, it is not as water-resistant as it looks, but the strength far outweighs that issue. This set of compression bags arrive in small, medium, large, and extra-large sizes, so you can compress a host of different types of clothing from pants to jackets. But if you’re aiming to pack light for a weekend, you can opt for the three-piece set that fits into a backpack. During our testing, we found that our H2O became five degrees colder than its original temperature, even six hours later (and it can stay cold for 24 hours). And if that’s not your jam, the bottle can keep your drink hot for up to 12 hours. The cap is the ideal size to get a perfect flow of water from it or however much water you want without spilling. If you’re constantly on the go or an active gym-goer, the loop handle makes it easy to carry around to stay refreshed. The base is a bit too large to fit comfortably into a vehicle cup holder, but fits effortlessly into a backpack holder.

While it is one of the best travel pillows to use on an airplane, we also tested it during a 19-hour long road trip to New Hampshire, and found that our heads remained elevated in the perfect position and didn’t move forward whenever we hit the brakes to stop. The machine-washable pillow is super plush, ultra-soft, and packaged in a pouch that can be attached to a backpack strap or a piece of luggage. After we tucked it away in the trunk underneath our luggage, we pulled it out to see that the pillow didn’t lose its J-shape design. Any type of traveler, including young kids, could use it for their next travel journey.

The Zegur Suit Garment Bag is a hybrid accessory that can act as a briefcase or a clothing carrier. During testing, we were able to fit a suit jacket, pants, a button-down shirt, a belt, and dress shoes with plenty of room to spare. To be honest, we think it had the ability to transport double the amount of clothes packed in the bag. Whether you’re traveling for business events or weddings, this bag has numerous pockets to stash any cufflinks, ties, suspenders, and other accessories. 

Our favorite part of the bag was the organization of the internal space. The way the clothing sat along with the shoe pockets and the additional space for the belt was impeccable. Although the bag had room for more clothes, it folded up to be flat and carried like a messenger bag. So, this may not be the best travel bag to use for your other carry-on essentials such as water bottles and toiletries. However, the quality of the bag is remarkably sturdy: it was able to withstand our durability test without getting ripped or scratched.

They run a bit on the smaller side.

These modern, classic frames are the perfect finishing touch to pair with nearly any outfit in your wardrobe. We’ve worn them on many occasions — from biking and hiking in the snow to driving in the sun and traveling on the weekends. As much as we moved around for different activities, we never felt like they were sliding but rather managed to stay put on our face. Two things can be true: they’re lightweight yet sturdy in ways you know that they won’t break easily. For example, the fold isn’t too smooth, which gives us confidence in the hinges. The nose bridge rested comfortably for long periods and didn't pinch, so when we took our glasses off, there wasn’t a mark left on our face. Not to mention, the tint is dark enough to sufficiently block sunlight and glare while wearing them outside.

We tried to fill plenty of drugstore travel bottles and they pale in comparison to the LiquiSnugs Premium Silicone Travel Bottles. Because these TSA-approved bottles come in two different sizes, they are equipped to hold a lot of products. Sometimes you just need  more of one product than another when traveling and these give you that option. Each individual silicon bottle held up well during testing and had the volume to secure our shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and face wash. The mouth of each one is fairly big, so it’s not hard at all to empty and refill it as needed. We were surprised there wasn’t any spillage or damage after we tossed, turned, and dropped them during our tests. In fact, the bottles were small and durable enough to fill a quart-size Ziplock without having to worry about leakage. 

Best Earplugs

Loop quiet ear plugs.

These earplugs offer optimal comfort and reduce most noise during travel.

They aren’t ideal for situations when you’ll need to take them in and out frequently.

Compared to the dainty earplugs that come in some hotel or airline amenity kits, the Loop Quiet Noise Reduction Ear Plugs feel downright luxe. On a redeye flight during our testing period, we were able to sleep comfortably with no problem as the plugs snugly fit inside our ears. Although they’re marketed as noise-reduction and not noise-canceling, they still do the trick. For instance, if someone is speaking in a regular voice, these block them out, along with general loud environmental clamor on our daily commute. 

Whether we’re working, reading, or studying, we found these ear plugs are versatile in offering protection from loud noises and background noise in many cases. The exterior loop makes it accessible to take them out and twist them to properly fit, especially during HIIT workouts or running through the airport. Thanks to their design, they feel snug and not like they’re going to fall out. They also come with a small plastic carrying case that we hooked onto our keychain, making it easy when you need to locate the earplugs whenever and wherever you may need them. As if there weren't enough qualities to love, here’s one more: they’re usable for up to five years.

Best Sunscreen

The Pipette Mineral Sunscreen is a true gem, regardless of some critical reviews from users online. For starters, finding a sunscreen that doesn't give a white cast can be a huge challenge, but this one is the exception. The sunscreen has a creamy texture, but it’s so fast-absorbing and lightweight that we barely noticed it on our skin during our tests. It actually goes on smoothly and blends well with a variety of skin tones (and vacation tans). The 30 SPF product is housed in a triangular-shaped squeeze tube container, which we found dispenses effortlessly. Thanks to the non-nano zinc formula that provides broad-spectrum protection, we could spend hours swimming or laying out by the beach. Also, we were stunned that there was barely any transfer of the sunscreen onto our black shirt. But, we did see it ran a little bit from both pool water and sweat.

This is one of the most durable, high-quality, and well-designed weekenders we've tested.

With a 35-liter capacity, this is more of a personal item than a carry-on and may not be large enough for heavy packers.

This spacious weekender bag features plenty of pockets to help keep all of your items organized. The outside of the bag even features extra pockets for essentials such as keys, wallets, phones, and more. The weekender is segmented into three parts: the front pocket, the main compartments, and a laptop compartment that fits up to 16-inch laptops. The outside also features a handy luggage sleeve, so you can pair this bag with larger luggage for long trips.

Just looking at the bag, you can tell that it's a strong and durable bag. All of the zippers run smoothly and some of them even have water-resistant linings. While the bag is a bit heavy to carry, we like that the shoulder strap is adjustable and features soft padding. After all of our durability tests, including shoving the bag off a counter multiple times, it shows no signs of wear and tear and we're sure it will last for years to come.

This is more than just an average messenger bag — the Samsonite Colombian Leather Flap-over Messenger Bag is a spacious commuter or business trip essential that can carry everything you need. While the leather bag is heavier than some, it's also more sturdy and more durable. It's also extremely comfortable to carry thanks to a wide shoulder strap that equally distributes weight.

This messenger also has thick padding inside, so nothing pokes out into your back or side and it gives extra protection for your laptop and other devices. The front flap has two push clasps that make it super easy to open (with two mock buckles on top that add an upscale look without the pain of actually having to unbuckle them) and covers pockets that are perfect for storing pens, cards, and other quick-access items. There's a large back pocket with velcro that you can just slip your hand into as well. This leather bag feels high-end and sturdy, and it didn't show any scratches after we threw it off a table four times. As a bonus, it has a really nice leather smell to it that adds to the overall luxurious design.

To select these particular products, we sorted through results from 17 different tests that T+L editors took part in, testing well over 350 products in total. Tips for Buying Travel Accessories

Consider trip length.

Nine times out of 10, you’ve overpacked for your trip before and not used everything in your luggage. The art of packing, after all, is all about learning not what you need to bring, but what can stay at home. A big part of those deciding factors should rest upon the duration of your trip. Are you going away for a week or a weekend? You should be packing those numbers of days — nothing more, nothing less. The last thing you want upon arriving at the airport is an overweight bag with unnecessary items (and an additional charge).

Think about your itinerary

When curating your packing list, it’s best to consider what’s on the agenda for the trip. What activities will take place? Are you going to be out in the sun for hours, in need of sunscreen? Do you have electronics to accommodate you from point A to Z? Do your outfits and accessories coincide with the forecast? Certain trips call for very specific items. Once the itinerary is laid out, you’ll have a better understanding of what to bring and what to leave behind.

Prioritize comfort

Comfort is not something you can sacrifice when going on a trip. You have to think about what accessories will help make your travel experience more enjoyable and free-flowing.
