Just returned from Maui. Family and I did a Friday night sunset cruise. Highly recommend this trip. Capt. Phil and crew are top notch. They work hard to make sure you have fun. Great food and drink, whale watching and great views. The crew was very careful loading and unloading passengers at the start and end of the trip. Overall a great time. If you want to sail with a competent and caring crew, then Sea Maui is the place to be.

This was my third catamaran snorkel trip and it was the best one yet! First and foremost the staff was amazing. Throughout the trip the entire crew stayed engaged in conversation, and not just with one person. Hands down best part of my week stay here in Maui! I had the joy of going on a Sea Maui trip. The boat was large and the vibe the crew had was amazing. Trilogy is in a class of its own when it comes to snorkeling tours off Lanai . They have been sharing the pristine water of Hulopoe Beach since the mid-1970s!

The day of your Discover Lana’i Sail Adventure has been crafted down to an exact science of fun, snorkeling, and the best food out of any lanai snorkel tour around. One of the things that set Trilogy above other Lanai snorkel trips is they have a permit to disembark their guests at the harbor in Manele Bay. Only a very few have this permit!

The Trilogy Discover Lanai tour starts this island adventure with a bus tour up to Lanai City. During the ride up the hill, the driver will share the history of Lanai which is rich and deep in the culture of Hawaii. Once you arrive at Hulopoe Beach, the Lodge of Manele sits on the bluffs above overlooking the beach. The resort is operated by the Four Seasons and is considered one of the finest resorts in all of Hawaii. You may want to take a stroll up and check it out and there is plenty of time for discovery.

Hulopoe Beach has been rated as one of the finest beaches in America. The beach has earned the award of the best beach on several occasions since the list was compiled some 30 years ago. With its crystal clear ocean waters, numerous tide pools, and stunning coral formations. While on the beach there are many things to do besides snorkeling. You can play volleyball, catch some rays or collect seashells. But you’ll definitely want to get out on the water – snorkeling at Hulopoe Beach in Lanai is some of the best in all of Hawaii!

Snuba Diving on Lanai (Separate Fee – Payable On Board)

Trilogy Excursions began offering Snuba as soon as the craze started taking off many years ago. It’s a little different than other snorkel charters on Maui in that Snuba with Trilogy begins on the beach…

What is snuba you may ask? Snuba is scuba diving without the tanks strapped on your back. The tank is placed on a small inflatable raft with a 25-foot hose attached. You are then equipped with a regulator and weights. The weights allow you to stay underwater. The tanks last about 45 minutes depending on how you breathe.

The groups are small with only four snuba divers and a divemaster. Our experienced divemaster leads the groups and watches out for any issues that may arise keeping you safe and free to get caught up in the amazing marine wonders around you. Snuba reservations should be placed at the time you schedule the activity. Trilogy is not bound by the USS Coast Guard ruling of tank-to-guest ratio aboard the boat as the Snuba tanks are already on Lanai, but they only bring so many to the beach.

Trilogy also offers scuba diving some of the tanks are reserved for those guests.

So glad our family did this! We swam along with schools of beautiful fish and the majestic turtles. The turtles were absolutely incredible to watch in their natural habitat!! The gear was quality and the crew totally made the experience! Relaxing and floating was so amazingly peaceful. One of the lesser expensive excursions, and ended up being one of the best highlights for our family of 4, with two teens!

We have been in Maui for 2 weeks, and this was by far my favorite excursion, and the cheapest too! The crew was so awesome! I felt safe because they come in water with you. We saw so many turtles and sharks (reef sharks but I’d say 4ft long).The drinks were yummy (mai tai)! After snorkeling, we jumped off the boat and we did the slide as well. My kids are 12 & 17….they had a great time. I HIGHLY recommend this trip!

We booked a sunset cruise to celebrate our daughter's birthday and it was everything we wanted and more! The captain and crew were phenomenal and went above and beyond to give us a first class experience. Food was great, drinks were flowing, and the live music was the icing on the cake. The captain let our daughter sit behind the wheel for a little bit which was a special experience for her. We did several tours while in Maui, but this was by far the best!

My husband and I had so much fun! Our experience was top notch and the staff are so nice and friendly, felt super safe the entire time. The life guards watch the entire time to make sure everyone is having a great time while staying close and being safe. We saw so many turtles and beautiful fish, at the end of the tour we encountered a lot of dolphins and it really felt so magical. 100% recommend, it was definitely my favorite part of our vacation!

We had a fantastic time yesterday seeing three kinds of dolphins! Captain Heather just knew how to find them. She was so informed and humorous. Snorkeling off the boat in Lanai Bay was so amazing. Great visibility and tons of fish. We staying in the water for the full hour and never tired. Afterwards the party started when the bar opened. Very soon after, everyone on the boat was friends. Drinks were excellent and plentiful. Highly recommend, it was fantastic!

Start the day with a day tour of Lanai aboard Trilogy’s luxury sailing catamarans . Smell cinnamon rolls and the coffee brewing while Trilogy does a slow cruise over to the Island of Lanai. Along the way, you will see cliffs, small lava sea caves, and blowholes. You have about an 85% chance of seeing dolphins around the Island or in the channel in between so keep a close watch!  The dolphins were playing by our boat as we approached the Island. The views are simply fabulous. This is the same tour as the coastal Cruise on the web site  it is just Mon-Friday at 6am departure or 10am departure.

Our Snorkel, Whale Watching, and Sunset adventures depart right from Ka’anapali Beach in front of Whaler’s Village. Paragon is the premier sailing catamaran company on Maui, and their thrilling adventures are aboard Paragon & Paragon II. These high performance twin vessels feature new construction techniques and hull design. This is also paired with state-of-the-art rotating carbon fiber masts. America's Cup winning catamaran used the same mast technology, which allows for incredible speeds along with safety and comfort. Sailing is a major part of the adventure, and Paragon sailing does it best.

Molokini, Coral Gardens, Lana'i, and Lahaina sunset sailing are the destinations for these intimate and authentic charters. The tours have a diverse range of sailing and snorkeling. For over 20 years, Paragon Sailing has been committed to customer service and they have catered to Maui visitors and locals. They create a personal experience with their smaller groups, and the friendly and experienced crew will guide your amazing ride.

Depending on your tour selection, Paragon departs from Lahaina Harbor or Ma'alaea Harbor. All snorkel tours include snorkel gear, but you are also welcome to bring your own snorkel gear. They also provide a few optical masks, so let us know if you require one. Paragon does not allow spray-on sunscreen, because it has a tendency to go everywhere including the deck. This can make it slippery and dangerous to maneuver around the boat, and the spray-on sunscreen is generally toxic to the ocean environment. They advocate using reef-safe sunscreen to preserve the marine ecosystem, and they will provide it on both their vessels. Bring a hat, sunglasses, camera, reusable water bottle, and towels. Paragon does not provide towels, but they keep a small inventory on the boat for purchase. On the sunset sail, especially during the winter months, bring a light jacket.

Vegetarian or gluten free options are available through their catering companies, but people with celiac disease or severe nut allergies should be aware that they cannot guarantee there no cross contamination.

Molokini Snorkel Sail

Discover Molokini, the most unique snorkeling destination! This 5 hour tour is offered daily from 7:30am to 12:30pm. Check in is at 7:15am at Maalaea Harbor. The natural marine preserve is inside a crescent shaped crater, and there are over 250 species of tropical fish. The Paragon II will transport you to these pristine and protected waters. Aboard the Paragon II you will experience performance sailing, and Maui's afternoon trade winds can get this vessel going with speeds in excess of 20 knots! As you sail across Ma'alaea Bay, enjoy a continental breakfast. After you swim and snorkel at Molokini, you can rinse off with their hot & cold shower. You will be served a full lunch buffet and beverages there too. During whale season (December - May), experience the majestic humpback whales play with the breathtaking landscape of Maui in the background.

There are times that Molokini weather can be a bit unpredictable. If this happens, they will sail to another snorkel destination with more suitable conditions.

Lanai Beach Picnic Snorkel Sail - Monday through Friday

Explore the exclusive island of Lana'i, one of the top 10 snorkel spots in the world! It features pristine reefs, tide pools, tropical beaches, and spinner dolphins that play in Manele Bay. This 7 hour tour is offered Monday through Friday at 8:30am to 4:00pm. Check in is at 8:15 a.m. at Lahaina Harbor, and from there you will sail across the Au' au' channel to Lana'i. Take in the panoramic views of Maui, Moloka'i, Kaho'olawe, and Lana'i as you enjoy a continental breakfast. The first stop on your sailing adventure is Manele Bay. This vibrant and healthy reef is a marine preserve full of sea life. Once you arrive on Lana'i, you can stroll 10 minutes to Hulopo'e beach, which is one of the most stunning beaches in Hawaii. Choose a relaxing spot for your lunch...at a picnic table, under a palm tree on a grass mat, or stretch out on the warm golden sand. You're welcome to bring your snorkel gear with you, because the reef is just as beautiful here. If you prefer not to venture out to Hulopo'e beach, you will have access to share, picnic tables, and facilities in the harbor area. Paragon currently offers a two-location snorkel trip along the Lanai coastline operating daily. Running in place of their Lanai Beach Snorkel Sail during COVID, this trip explores the pristine reefs along Lana'i's south shores. Stunning sea cliffs, uncrowded snorkeling sites, and expansive island views make this trip a wonderful way to spend your day. Enjoy a continental breakfast of tropical fruit, freshly baked banana bread, and locally roasted coffee from Maui's Best Banana Bread & Coffee Co. There is no set destination so our experienced crew can select the best locations based on conditions, and you'll visit multiple snorkel sites when time and weather allow. The crew will set the sails, look for Lanai's famous spinner dolphins, and serve up a delicious deli lunch as you relax on board.

Lahaina Champagne Sunset Performance Sail

$105.00 per Adult, $74.00 per Child (3-12), Infants (under 3) FREE (plus 8.108% Hawaii sales/harbor tax)

No Hawaiian vacation is complete without the beauty of a golden sunset. This 2 hour tour is daily except Sunday, and the departure times are adjusted to seasonal sunset patterns. Check in is at Lahaina Harbor, public loading dock, in front of the Pioneer Inn. Check in from September 15th to November 14th is at 4:45pm, November 15th to February 14th is at 4:30pm, February 15th to May 14th is at 4:45pm and May 15th to September 14th is at 5:00pm. This sailing excursion offers hors d'oeuvres and beverages, including beer, wine, champagne & Mai Tais. From December thru May, watch the humpback whales jump and play with the breathtaking sun setting across the blue waters of the pacific.

Cruise Ship Clients

On their second day in port, Pride of America passengers are able to do the Molokini Snorkel Sail and they will need to take a 15 minute cab ride. For passengers whose cruise ship is tendering in Lahaina, the Lanai Snorkel Sail may be possible. The Pali Coast Snorkel Sail and the Sunset Champagne Sail does not work for cruise ship passengers.

ACTIVITY TIPS

Paragon Sailing offers something that most other catamaran tours don't ... they ACTUALLY SAIL! This might sound a little odd ... but most sailing catamarans that are used for snorkeling tours rarely put the sails up at all. They tend to motor to and from their destinations because they can motor faster than they can sail. Some will sail a short distance if conditions are favorable. Paragon is different. Their catamarans were built for "performance sailing" which means they can sail just about as fast as they can motor! There is nothing like the experience of having the engines go quiet and hearing only the sound of the wind and of the bow cutting through the water like a knife through warm butter. If you want to snorkel and you love to sail, Paragon is the best choice for you!

Enjoy an open water voyage to Lanai where you will get have incredible views of the islands of Maui County like Maui, Molokai, Kahoolawe, and Lanai. During winter months, passengers can often spot humpback whales in the water as the relax or play with their calves in the warm Pacific Ocean.

Upon arriving at Manele Harbor, be greeted by your driver, and the guide will be driving an air-conditioned Suburban SUV to ensure your comfort and safety during your exploration of the island of Lanai. Feel free to ask your guide any questions you may have, and then sit back to enjoy the tour!

After departing from the harbor, destinations may include Garden of the Gods, Shipwreck Beach, and Hulopo’e Bay. Where you guide takes you on your activity date may change depending on the weather and road conditions, but they will do their best to accommodate any requests while exploring Lanai.

Start the tour driving by Hulopoe Bay, a Marine Life Conservation District and one of the most beautiful aquatic areas on Lanai. From there, you will cruise by the famous Lanai Cat Sanctuary, home to hundreds of furry felines, stop by a Hydroponic Farm, and visit the scenic Kaumalapau Harbor.

Walking at the Garden of the Gods is a captivating journey into a rugged, Martian-like landscape. This surreal terrain, sculpted by nature's forces, showcases vivid red and orange hues contrasted against the blue sky. The walk unveils rock formations & geological wonders that spark the imagination.

This pristine stretch of coastline offers a dramatic seascape with the remains of a World War II-era shipwreck in the background. The golden sands are framed by turquoise waters, creating a stunning contrast. While swimming is discouraged, it is an ideal spot for taking in the breathtaking scenery.

Once your tour has completed, you are free to enjoy Lanai at your leisure. You can be dropped off at the harbor to wait, or visit other areas. Please note that transportation around Lanai is not provided once your tour has ended, but taxi and shuttle services are available for an additional fee.

After a long yet exhilarating day on Lanai, make your way back to Maui and the Maalaea Harbor. Depending on the season, you may even catch a glimpse of the sun as it dips below the horizon, offering beautiful sunset views to ferry passengers.

• Depending on what you would like to do during the four hours of free time on Lanai, guests should bring methods of payment (credit card and cash) for shuttle and transportation services, food at restaurants, and purchases at stores.
• Guests who plan to go the beach during the free time on Lanai should bring a swimsuit, change of clothes, towel, reef-safe sunscreen, and snorkeling equipment.

Overall rating

The trip was excellent. Parking at the Maalea harbor dock is a pain. In the future tell your clients to get the ParkWhiz app on their phone You can pay for close up parking on this app. The code reader at the dock is cr ... appy. Our Lanai on site guide, Russ was a wealth of information and had as much fun with us and the other couple as we did with him and the tour. A nice day was had by all.

Can I bring my own drinks and snacks?

Yes, you can bring snacks with you, but please do not eat or leave trash in the vehicles. There will be a stop for lunch (Full Day) in Lanai City as well.

Will the ferry be a problem if I am prone to seasickness?

Consider taking an over the counter motion sickness preventative before your cruise if you are worried about sea sickness. The waters in the afternoon tend to be much rockier than in the morning.

How far in advance should I book this activity?

We recommend booking at least 1-2 weeks in advance. If you have very specific schedule requirements and are not flexible, please book sooner. Last-minute bookings are often possible, but availability is limited.

Will we see whales?

Every year Humpback Whales migrate to the warm waters of Hawaii, and although not guaranteed, they are often seen between the months of December and April.

Is transportation provided on Maui?

Please make your own way to the Lahaina Harbor to catch the Ferry, and once you arrive in Lanai, your guide will pick you up at Manele Harbor upon disembarking the passenger ferry. You can be dropped off back at the Manele Harbor or a location of your choosing.

What kind of vehicle will be used?

The vehicle is a newer model Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) that can be either a Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Suburban, Land Rover, or Ford Expedition.

How long is the ferry ride each way?

The ferry takes approximately 45 minutes each way, but can be up to an hour depending on ocean conditions.
