Wonderful vacation

The ship is a little bit old, but all the program and system are good enough for vacation. Thanks to animation team, my son could have a wonderful first cruise experience and he would like to take cruise again.

I would definitely recommend it if you're in a suite. There were 16 of us traveling together and we had a blast!

Do not go on this cruise! The food is terrible, very poor activities or entertainment. They provide no assistance if you need Covid test to return home. You will be very disappointed

As an American and not knowing Italian or Spanish it was hard on the excursions because English ones were cancelled. Felt like we missed a lot even though guides tried to pull us aside and explain things.

Lively cruise in the Mediterranian, despite the winter and a few bad weather days. Make sure you participate in activities onboard.

As a couple in our 30’s from USA, we thought a cruise would be fun. Not on Costa... Food- we thought being an Italian cruise line the food would be good. It was as bad as could be. 90% was frozen food. Two nights we were sick in bed. Everything was an upcharge, pizza, gelato. You weren’t allowed more than one small glass of water. You could buy a bottle for $ though. Very bland food. Excursion- locations were good. Santorini you had to get a number or take a cruise excursion otherwise had to wait to leave. On a 6 hour time off boat, 2 was waiting to leave. We did our own thing every time except once and was as expected, disappointing. People- The promo videos show a younger crowd 80% over 60. 19% 35-59 years old with or without kids 1% 35 and under Entertainment- Had 2 pools, one for kids and the adult one was very small and closed/never saw anyone in it. Shows were really promo videos for future cruises. “Casino vibe” was very dated and was like old Vegas. A highlight for us was paying $40 euro to play bingo one night. Room- We paid the up charge for a room with a balcony and was nice. Technology- Everything was dated. WiFi was upcharge and expensive. If you are a European person over 60 looking for a cruise this could work great for you. Hospitality department didn’t speak English well and was no help. If you are from the USA, I would stay away and are better staying home.

The 2010-built Costa Deliziosa cruise ship is the second LUMINOSA-class liner, with sistership Costa Luminosa .

The vessel (IMO number 9398917) is currently Italy- flagged (MMSI 247282900) and registered in Genoa .

History - construction and ownership

Costa Cruises is a Genoa -headquartered subsidiary company owned by Carnival Corporation . Costa is Europe's second-largest cruise line (after MSC ) with year-round operations in the Mediterranean. Costa was founded in 1854 as a cargo shipping company. It started passenger shipping services in 1947, with regular Transatlantic crossings between Europe (Italy) and South America. In 2000, Costa Cruises was acquired by Carnival Corporation (shipowner).

The 2300-passenger ship Costa Deliziosa is relatively smaller-sized and with a more simple design.

Besides the staff and crew, Costa passengers are also served by Peper robots - the latest cyborg technology implemented fleetwide in 2016. These humanoid robots greet and guide passengers upon embarkation. They also assist them throughout the cruise by providing information and tips on onboard dining, entertainment, enrichment program (workshops, pre-scheduled events), casino and shopping promotions, shore excursions and tours. Pepper robots are mobile and communicate in 3 languages (English, German, Italian). They can also interpret human emotions by analyzing voice tones and facial expressions.

Decks and Cabins

Costa Deliziosa staterooms (1130 total, in 14 grades) include 90x Suites, 662x Balconies, 178x Oceanviews, 180x Inside cabins. Most staterooms are sized 185 ft2 / 17 m2 (68% of all) and have a private step-out balcony. Wheelchair-accessible cabins are 23. The largest accommodations are the Grand Suites (455 ft2 / 43 m2, with terrace sized 105 ft2 / 9 m2).

There are also 56x Spa Staterooms (including 4x Spa Suites, 38x Spa Balcony, 14x Spa Inside). Panorama Suites are with scenic (forward and aft) deck locations, sized 370 ft2 / 35 m2, wraparound balconies, large bathrooms (with two sinks and bathtub), VIP amenities (priority embarkation, concierge service, other perks).

The boat has 12 passenger decks , of which 6 are with cabins.

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

Costa Deliziosa's MDR on Deck 2 is named Ristorante Albatross. It is a two-deck-high, vibrantly red venue in the aft of the ship with gorgeous views. What is also great about the layout of Albatross is the way it is designed into smaller areas, each with a different ambiance. The onboard buffet restaurant is Ristorante Buffet Muscadins located on Deck 9. It is open for breakfast, lunch, and tea (late afternoon snack). Muscadins offers a range of stations with European and North American favorites. There is a pizza counter with offerings that are more American than Italian. The buffet is also open on some nights for dinner. Costa Deliziosa also offers a complimentary 24-Hour Room-Service.

• Ristorante Samsara (serves healthy and low-calorie food; with complimentary dining room for guests in Samsara Spa cabins, and a specialty restaurant for other passengers at a surcharge/reservations are required)
• Ristorante Albatros (aft Dining Room, complimentary; serves open-seating breakfast and lunch, 2 fixed dinner seatings - at 6:30 pm and 9 pm)
• Ristorante Buffet Muscadins (self-service buffet restaurant, complimentary; offers breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea at 4-5 pm, and dinner; in the evening is transformed into Pizzeria, complimentary, with waiter service)

Introduced in 2021, "Destination Dishes" are complimentary and available at the MDR's/main dining rooms fleetwide. They are based on individual recipes designed by a "celebrity chef trio" (Bruno Barbieri/Italian, Helene Darroze/French, Angel Leon/Spanish) and interpret the traditional food of the destinations to be visiting by the ship on the following day of the voyage.

Shipboard entertainment options - Fun and Sport

Costa Cruises Deliziosa and Luminosa ships are built on new smaller for Costa lines design. The balance of slightly smaller size and exotic routes plays a good part in the wish of Costa to orient these two cruise ships to higher-spending guests. Deliziosa cruise ship appeals to new passengers who want to travel to thrilling destinations on a vessel still offering all mega-sized conveniences of Costa Crociere. Costa Deliziosa Wiki

Costa cruise ship Deliziosa was christened in Dubai UAE (Port Rashid Terminal) during the Inaugural cruise from Savona to Dubai (February 5, 2010). And because it's a Muslim territory, at the naming ceremony, a bottle of juice replaced the traditional Champagne "bottle smashing". The ceremony matched Port Rashid's cruise terminal opening.

Deliziosa is the 2nd of Costa's two Luminosa-class liners, with sistership Costa Luminosa . Ship's design is described as a hybrid between Spirit- and Vista-Class. Both Deliziosa and Luminosa are smaller than the typical Costa vessels and built to Panamax specifications (allowing transit through Panama Canal 's old locks).

Deliziosa carries 340 original artworks and 4760 prints. The largest cabin is the Panorama Suite (sized 670 ft2 / 64 m2, aft location, with a wraparound balcony).

On December 21, 2015, the liner made its maiden call at the USA's second busiest homeport - Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale) Florida .

Costa Deliziosa World Cruise 2020
