Spirit NPC Notes & Tips

• Please note: All the names are unofficial. 
• All Spirit NPCs have mushrooms that can be seen around their feet. The Mushroom Set states: "To those enraptured by the scarlet rot, they are holy vestments that root one to the earth." It's unclear how most of these Spirits died, but Mushrooms could be a way to 'root one to the earth', no matter the cause of death.  

There is missing spirit , this one is the one on the planks by the Rotview Balcony grace , the one who mourns how rotted Caelida has become.

There's a spirit missing from the list, found Southwest of Ordina, Liturgical Town site of grace in the Consecrated Snowfield. Easiest to find at night, it's in between a pile of rocks and the big trees, with a patrol of nobles wandering not a couple yards away.

This is missing a spirit at the ENTRANCE to the Church of Pilgrimage, which talks about the Walking Mausoleum.

According to game file and dialogue files, there are a total of 38 white phantom NPCs that speak silently (not counting the Wandering Artist Spirit). These spirit NPCs are named as 話す死体 (Talking Corpses) in the Japanese in-game file (NPC list), but are unnamed in English in-game file (only ID's remain). Their ID's range from 170000 to 170037. I can confirm that all 38 spirits are actually in game. Many of them are easy to miss, especially during daytime. All of their words hint at past stories, and some of them are very important for understanding the lore.

Elden Ring Prophecy Painting Location: Where to Find the Treasure

Elden Ring has its fair share of items and treasures to discover to seek out. Whether that be paintings or weapons worthy of sinking deep into the flesh of your enemy, there is something for everyone to seek out and collect. Notably, one such painting is called the ‘Prophecy Painting’ and players have been attempting to look for it within the world. This guide article will take you over where to find the ‘Prophecy Painting’ in Elden Ring and everything you need to know about it.

Prophecy Painting Location In Elden Ring

In order to find the ‘Prophecy Painting’, it is recommended to go to the ‘Liftside Chamber’ site of grace in order to get to the location faster. The painting can be found inside the study room which is nearby the courtyard with a lot of enemies close to the player. The ‘Omen Ogre’ is also located at this are so you can expect a battle when you are trying to get into the area you need to get to.

However, it should be noted that once you have the painting you can utilize it to get some treasure. In order to do this, after grabbing the painting, walk down to the south outside the area which is known as the ‘Weeping Area’. Go outside of the location and behind the church that your player will be close-by to, simply go up to the spirit which is siting down on and a chair and ‘painting’ and then you will receive some ‘Spirit Ashes’ after picking up the item from the ground. From that point on, you will then be able to summon a bird from the castle to attack enemies and keep them distracted.

The Spirit Ashes are called the ‘Warhawk Ashes’. It is said to be the spirit of a Stormveil Warhawk and even that the talons are said to have been “sliced off” for swords instead. It once had a lord and now its wings have been wounded so it perished while it was looking at the castle. A somber backstory for one of your spirit summons indeed.

Elden Ring Prophecy Painting Lore

In terms of what the Prophecy Painting’s backstory is, the following is what is linked to the item’s description: “Work of a wandering artist. Reminiscence of a painting titled “Prophecy”. This painter is said to have captured the landscapes seen during the last moments of those welcomed into death’s embrace. The soul of the painter, and vestiges of the dead’s last moments can be discovered by visiting the location depicted even now”.

Some players may take great inspiration to find the painting from the lore of the item, as with any item in Elden Ring , there is commonly a deeper meaning behind each. Whether it is a weapon such as the ‘Zweihander’ or otherwise. Another great item to find is the ‘ Blessed Dew Talisman ‘ that you will be able to find within the experience.

Elden Ring contains a series of seven paintings that depict the various landscapes from The Lands Between. The paintings act as treasure hunts, though the goal is perhaps counterintuitive: you’re not looking for the location depicted in the painting, but rather the location it was painted from .

The artist apparently went around painting landscapes seen by people just before they died, which is a dark choice of subject matter. Now, the paintings contain remnants of the artist’s spirit, and of those he painted. Upon arriving at the location where the painting was done, you’ll find the ghost of the artist, who will disappear, leaving behind a unique reward for your trouble. Here's how to solve all seven of Elden Ring's painting puzzles.

7 Homing Instinct

The Homing Instinct painting is likely the first one you’ll find in The Lands Between. It is located at the Artist’s Shack, in Limgrave. You can reach it by heading southwest from Summonwater Village, or taking the road north after the bridge where you first fight the Night’s Cavalry. Presumably, it was the temporary home of the artist who painted all of these paintings.

Finding his spirit shouldn’t be too much of a challenge, since it’s extremely close to where you started the game. It’s not immediately apparent from the painting, but the grave depicted is overlooking the Dragon-Burnt Ruins from the cliffs to the southwest. Upon returning, you’ll get the Incantation Scarab, a helm that reduces the FP cost of incantations by 15 percent while increasing the damage you take by five percent.

The Prophecy painting is inside Stormveil Castle, hidden in an alcove just outside the Liftside Chamber Site of Grace. It’s easy to run past without noticing it, since just outside the alcove it’s sitting in, is an Omen (and even worse, a dog).

Once you’ve picked it up, you’ll need to travel a significant distance to find the artist, though it might be somewhere you’ve already been. Head to the northern tip of the Weeping Peninsula, on the cliff North of the Church of Pilgrimage, looking back at Limgrave. When the artist disappears, you’ll get the Warhawk Ashes, allowing you to summon the fire-breathing birds who harass you across The Lands Between.

5 Resurrection

The Resurrection painting is in another Artist’s Shack. This time, it’s in Liurnia of the Lakes, just Northwest of the Study Hall. In most cases, you’ll find the artist on a cliff’s edge, or some other location that grants an obvious view of an important structure. This painting doesn’t follow that pattern; it's next to a large rock in the middle of a graveyard east of Caria Manor. To find it, head south down the road from the Behind Caria Manor Site of Grace.

On the plus side, this painting gets you the most bang for your buck. First, you get a Larval Tear, a rare item that allows you to respec your stats with Rennala. And as a bonus (though it may not be one you actually want), you get the Juvenile Scholar’s armor set, the clothes worn by Rennala’s creepy children.

As befits a work named after Radahn and his soldiers , the Redmane painting is hidden in the ruins of Selia, Town of Sorcery. You’ll have to make your way through most of Caelid to get there, but once you do, the painting isn’t hard to find. It’s underneath a balcony, half-concealed by rubble. Unfortunately, reaching the artist isn’t so simple. You’ll start at the Minor Erdtree in Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow. From there, head southeast and do some extremely difficult platforming down the roots sticking out from the cliffs to find him.

Alternatively, you can use the spirit spring near Fort Faroth to jump down to him, taking advantage of the invincibility it gives you. It’s not an easy jump, though, so you might find going the normal route to be easier. For your trouble, you get the Rain of Arrows Ash of War, a powerful skill for bow-based builds.

3 Champion’s Song

The Champion’s Song is probably the easiest painting to miss, since it’s inside the Shaded Castle, an optional area. And upon reaching the castle, you might decide this painting isn't worth your time, since it contains one of From Software’s patented poisonous swamps. The painting isn't too difficult to find, though; head along the eastern ramparts from the Shaded Castle Ramparts Site of Grace, down a fallen rock pillar and up a set of hidden stairs.

To find the artist, make your way to the Altus Plateau, where he sits southeast of the Rampartside Path Site of Grace. Though, be careful; you might run into Ancient Dragon Lansseax along the way. Unfortunately, for all the trouble of finishing this puzzle, it gives you the worst reward from any of the paintings: the Harp Bow.

2 Flightless Bird

The Flightless Bird Painting is in Leyndell, Royal Capital. More specifically, it’s in the Fortified Manor, which is easy to recognize, since it has the same layout as the Roundtable Hold. The painting should be easy to find as well, since it’s in the same room as the Fortified Manor, First Floor Site of Grace.

You’ll have to travel pretty far to find the artist, though. Go north, to Dominula, Windmill Village. The artist is sitting on the southeastern cliffs of the village, looking across the chasm in the direction of the Highway Lookout Tower. Find him to pick up Fire’s Deadly Sin, an incantation that literally lets you set yourself on fire.

The Sorcerer painting is the furthest into the game, requiring you to make your way to and through Castle Sol. The room containing the painting is locked from the inside, so you’ll have to traverse the castle ramparts until you find a ladder leading down to it.

To find the artist, head back south to one of the bridges you crossed to get to Castle Sol. Specifically, the one northwest of the Stargazer Ruins. The artist’s spirit is on a small platform on its eastern side. It’s a short trip, and you’re rewarded with the Greathood, the helm worn by Esgar, Priest of Blood . It increases your Intelligence and Faith by two at the cost of a ten percent penalty to your health.

Street artist who froze to death memorialized in retrospective exhibit

Alvin elif constant, who died in calgary in 2006, sold his art on the streets of vancouver and victoria.

An exhibit at the Penticton Art Gallery is honouring Cree artist Alvin Elif Constant, also known by many as the Wandering Spirit, who sold his work on the streets of Vancouver and Victoria.

The exhibit, titled In Search of Wandering Spirit , features artworks that have been donated by family, friends and the general public. 

Born in the James Smith Cree Nation in Saskatchewan, Constant's world revolved around art, according to his sister Shirley Constant. 

"I used to watch him for hours doing his artwork, he was so at peace," she said. 

Constant died in 2006, after freezing to death on the streets of Calgary.

Shirley remembers her brother as mischievous, curious and generous. 

Shirley says he was also given the nickname "Angel" by many who encountered him, because he was always helping people in need. 

"When he saw a need arise ... people having no shirt, no shoes, no food, he would go out and sell a painting and he would go back to that person and buy them shoes and whatnot," she said.

The exhibit's curator, Paul Crawford, says Constant touched the lives of thousands — including his own — while selling art on the streets.

Crawford was around 12 years old, he says, when he first encountered Constant selling his paintings in downtown Vancouver. Watching the artist work, Crawford says he was immediately mesmerized. 

While attending the University of Victoria a decade later, Crawford encountered Constant regularly selling his artwork in Victoria, and would often engage in brief conversation. 

"I was amazed by this individual and watching him create art," said Crawford, director and curator at the Penticton Art Gallery. 

"He stuck with me all these years, I never forgot the man." 

Constant's work stuck with Crawford so much that he decided to curate a retrospective of his work. 

He reached out to Constant's family and began crowdsourcing for artworks, with the largest donation coming from a friend of Constant's, who donated 40 paintings.

'Like a shining star'

Crawford says most street artists will never see their works in a public museum or art gallery — and he says this should change. 

"I hope we can shift that narrative of how people look and value the works of all these artists and put them into greater historical context," he said. 

Since the exhibit opened in mid-November, Crawford says many people who have met Constant have reached out, and the gallery has received additional artwork.

"It's remarkable hearing the peoples' stories that met him and maybe never thought about him again but walk in the gallery and see the show and have this emotional flood," he said. 

For Shirley, seeing the exhibit full of her brother's work was humbling and heartwarming. 

"My heart was touched," said Shirley. "My brother is coming out like a shining star."

‘Wandering Spirit’: The Mick Jagger Song Miranda Lambert Is Covering

In her classic song “Holdin’ On To You,” Miranda Lambert sang “I’ve seen the Rolling Stones/Got real high on rock and roll,” but it seems that she’s also familiar with the solo career of frontman Mick Jagger. Earlier today , Lambert announced her new album Palomino , which will be released on April 29, 2022. The tracklist includes “Wandering Spirit,” the title song of Mick Jagger’s third solo album, released in 1993.

Jagger, rightfully, is mostly celebrated for his career with the Rolling Stones — who got their start in 1962 and are still playing shows and releasing music today. But he’s amassed a pretty solid solo career as well. After doing a few solo songs through the ’70s, he released his debut album,  She’s The Boss , in 1985, at a time when the Stones’s future seemed shaky. Co-produced by Nile Rodgers of Chic (who has worked with Keith Urban in recent years), it was a pretty successful album, yielding two hits: “Lucky At Love” and “Just Another Night.” From there, things with the Stones got even worse, and Mick’s follow-up, 1987’s  Primitive Cool , produced by Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, seemed focused on aiming at the pop charts. However, it was a solid miss. Mick’s bandmate Keith Richards responded with his first solo album, 1988’s  Talk Is Cheap , which was very Stonesy… and most of the lyrics were aimed at Mick. It also got a lot of rock radio play, unlike  Primitive Cool. 

Happily, Mick and Keith made up; their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 may have helped. Later that year, the band released their comeback album,  Steel Wheels , and kicked off their first tour in seven years, which saw them selling out multiple nights in football and baseball stadiums. The Stones were back and bigger than ever. Mick was pushing 50, and probably realized that top 40 radio wasn’t in his future, and he didn’t need to cater to that audience, anyway. So he hooked up with producer Rick Rubin, whose resume at the time included albums by LL Cool J, Run-D.M.C., the Beastie Boys, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Slayer. The mission was to make a great rock and roll album. That album was  Wandering Spirit , which is probably the best effort of Jagger’s solo career. It includes a cover of Bill Withers’ “Use Me” with Lenny Kravitz, a cover of James Brown’s “Think” and a number of originals, including “Sweet Thing,” “Don’t Tear Me Up,” “Put Me In The Trash” and the title track, which is the song Miranda is covering. It’s a great song that didn’t get enough attention at the time: hopefully, Miranda’s cover will change that. Check out Mick’s original version below.
