Gold Coast Bus Tours

If you’re looking for bus tours on the Gold Coast, a popular tourist destination in Queensland, Australia, known for its beautiful beaches and theme parks, here are some suggestions:

  • Explore the city and its famous beaches with a bus tour that covers key landmarks, shopping districts, and popular beach areas like Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach.
  • Gold Coast is home to several world-renowned theme parks like Dreamworld, Movie World, and Sea World. Many tour operators offer shuttle services to these parks, providing a convenient and hassle-free way to enjoy the attractions.
  • Discover the lush hinterland and rainforest areas surrounding the Gold Coast. Some bus tours may take you to places like Tamborine Mountain, Lamington National Park, or Springbrook National Park, offering scenic views and nature walks.
  • Visit the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, where you can experience Australian wildlife up close. Some tours may include transportation to the sanctuary, allowing you to enjoy wildlife shows and interactive exhibits.
  • Combine a bus tour with a canal cruise for a unique perspective of the Gold Coast. Some tours may include visits to the waterways, providing scenic views of waterfront homes and landmarks.
  • If you’re interested in surfing, consider a bus tour that includes surfing lessons on the Gold Coast’s famous beaches. Some tours may also offer free time for you to relax on the sandy shores.

Before booking, check with local tour operators for the availability, schedules, and details of the tours. Consider your interests and the places you’d like to visit to find a tour that aligns with your preferences.

Things to do on the Gold Coast

Surfers Paradise - A City on The Gold Coast As you would expect with a name like Surfers Paradise, you will find one of the best surf beaches in Australia, which automatically makes it one of the best surf beaches in the world, backing onto a unique skyline of modern skyscrapers. It’s not just a paradise for surfers. Cavill Avenue is the centre of the Gold Coast with an abundance of restaurants, cafes, shops, bars, and late-night entertainment venues. Named after Jim Cavill, the city’s founder who successfully had the name changed to Surfers Paradise in 1933, Cavill Avenue stretches right down the middle of “Surfers” finishing at the famous beachfront Surfers Paradise sign. The boardwalk that runs along the beach is the perfect spot to take it all in from sea level, with the Skypoint Observation Deck providing an optimal vantage point from 77 stories up.

Police escorting Tour Buses in Los Angeles

33   2017-11-04 by klondike1412

Just saw via a friend a video of police escorting Gold Coast Tour Buses through Los Angeles Beach, police SUVs and motorcycles blocking the road for the tour buses to drive through.

Keep those eyes open.... Not sure why police would be escorting them...

EDIT: /u/Fuckaduckfuckaduck has pointed out it is probably a sports team, I find that explanation likely

Antifa are mobilising.

Video??!?!? Lol cmon OP!

1    klondike1412 2017-11-04

Sorry, it's a snap it's hard to record. There really isn't anything detailed from watching it, just police motorcycles sitting in the far lanes, police SUV comes in the proper traffic lane with 3 tour buses behind it, one more SUV comes after the buses. Tour bus line is "Gold Coast Tours", not Golden Sun my bad.

Keep the tread up dated if you can

1    RyanOnymous 2017-11-04

i don't understand how people in a hurry can always somehow manage to get Snapchat up and recording but not just simply the camera

1    hifeyokidshideyowifi 2017-11-04

It’s prob a sports organization.

That actually sounds somewhat believable, it was last night rather than today and they did have an awfully big police escort. But don't they usually have their own team-branded tour buses? A sports team would probably own rather than hire?

1    OriginalUncleFlyBaby 2017-11-04

Not visiting teams.

1    Paranoidsbible 2017-11-04

Any protests scheduled for today?

1    GeorgePantsMcG 2017-11-04

Yeah... I'll just take your word...

It's not like I have a whole lotta reason to lie about it, I'm not even sure it's protesters it's just somewhat relevant.

1    HappinessOG 2017-11-04

Delete this shit! Irrelevant! Fucking pussy larping fear mongers. Honestly, screw you! Oh the Chicago terrorist boogie men are back. Oh there's busses in LA. What the fuck!?

Feel free to point out how irrelevant it is, I never swore on my mum's grave I saw Hillary Clinton herself with a flamethrower on that tour bus or something. It's relevant to the speculation going on right now, another commenter very gracefully explained his likely theory about sports tour buses, no need for "Fucking pussy larping fear mongers". Take a few notes on how to have a discussion like a human being.

I don't have intelligent discussions with fear mongering larpers. You lose that privilege when you post senseless, irrelevant posts that belong nowhere near this sub. Go back to 4chan.

I don't think you have intelligent discussions period with an attitude like that. Keep up the friendly demeanor!

Keep getting off on fear mongering and larping. We all see right through your bullshit. Please go back to 4chan.

1    Fuckaduckfuckaduck 2017-11-04

I am willing to bet it is most definitely a college football team. Football teams take up 3-4 buses, and almost always have a police escort.

Arizona plays USC today in LA. It was more than likely the Wildcat’s charter.

That definitely sounds like a reasonable explanation! This was at 11PM, sounds like they could have been showing up the night before for the game tomorrow, although it is a bit late, not unreasonably so though.

Thank you! Finally someone in this thread with some REAL intellect. I'm so sick of this larping. Let's make them a sub sponsored by Doritos and Mountain Dew Code Red. These trolls belong nowhere near this sub. 4chan incels.

Hello, I hope someone can help me. I read on another post that, in Guatemala the police escort the tour buses, and that the police are on the pier. Is this true or has anyone else notice this. Thanks in advance.

Yes they do, they are pretty hard to miss but quite frankly it wasn't until the next morning that while having breakfast with a retired British "bobby" that I found out that they were really escorting us....then finally everything I saw fell into place.:)

thescot123

Was on the Nov 15th NCL Spirit cruise. Went on the city tour and did notice a blue pickup truck with police lights follow us around. I think that they have stepped up security since it was only two weeks after that tourist got murdered in the town.

Last January there were two small pickups, each had 2 police officers in the cab and 3 heavily armed soldiers in the back. One truck was on our stern and the other in front....it didn't occur to me until the next morning why we could never catch up to the truck in front.:o

We just returned from Puerto Queztel and didn't see anything of the kind. I think the Pacific side is very safe.

That is where we were last January.

lovesublime

We just returned from Puerto Quetzel and we took a ship sponsored excursion to Lake Atitlan which is a 2 1/2 hour drive each way. Our caravan of three tour buses was escorted by two pick up trucks carrying heavily armed security. They were carrying machine guns. We were told by our tour guide that the route we were taking was dangerous and prone to hold ups by extortionists who kidnap, rape, rob and kill.

There really was no way of missing the line-up of black pick-up trucks in the parking lot awaiting the dozens of vans and buses to be loaded. As the tour vehicles exited the parking lot the security trucks would pull out in front and fall in behind.

ooooooooooook. I'm sitting here looking for something to do at this port and I think this seals the deal for me. I think I'll stay on the ship.
  • 5 weeks later...
I am looking right now for a tour in Santo Thoma De Castella. I agree, staying on the ship sounds safe. We will be there2/24/2010. Just wondering , did you get off the ship??:confused::confused::eek:

I was there in December on Island Princess. We took the Textiles tour which was all day with lunch. I loved Guatemala--it was my favorite port on the trip. I felt safe with all of the ships tours, but I would not book any on my own in these countries.

My husband and I (in our sixties) have been on numerous cruises over the years. We have enjoyed all the ports and have never 'just stayed on the ship'. In January we spent 2 weeks in Guatemala on our own and felt perfectly safe. If, like us, you hesitate to take the ship's excursion due to the cost, check out reputable tour agencies online in the area and sign up. You don't want to miss this lovely country.

Don't stay on the ship in Santo Tomas. The country is just so beautiful. We did a Rio Dulce tour, with a side trip to Livingston, and never noticed police. But of course, we were on the water most of the time, or in the jungle school. Livingston seemed pretty safe, but it's a different kind of place, very interesting.

Cool Cruiser

I was in Santo Tomas 2 weeks ago, took a local excursion, finished by 1pm. Took a walk into town, walked the streets, went to the local market, ate local foods and sat in a roadside restaurant drinking beer and watched tour buses drive by. The locals were very nice, i know very little spanish, but was able to get by. I felt very safe, the only time I was asked for money or even bothered was within 2 blocks of the guarded entrance. I am a 59 year old male, approximately 190 lbs.

  • 4 months later...

I have to say I'm a little shocked to read this. We were on the NCL Spirit right after Thanksgiving last year and stopped in Santo Thoma De Castella. I had no idea a cruise ship passenger had been murdered there just a few weeks before.

Maybe I should be glad I didn't though. The port was nothing to speak of, but we did the excursion to the Las Escobas Waterfall through NCL. I loved it and it was one of my favorite excursions ever. The rain forest was just amazing. I would have thought seriously about skipping it if I had known then.

I felt safe with the tour group and I never noticed any police escorts although I was in the middle of the bus so that could be why. I did see good police presence around the dock.

  • 2 weeks later...

We went DIY in Guatemala with our backpack on the local bus for a month, through the jungle, eating, sleeping with the locals and never felt unsafe anywhere.

Security personnel is present everywhere in Guatemala. They get a kick out of it. It is prestige for a shop owner to have an armed guard in front of his store, that means he is well-off (he can afford the guy) and he must have beautiful goods in his store. McDonalds in Guatemala City even has an armed guard...

Please don't stay on board, you will miss out on a wonderful country with wonderful people. People are dead-poor, but very honest generally.

30,000+ Club

We were in Puerto Questal for two port stops in February & March 2010. Always, armed security was with us on any tours we took. No problem or any problems ... maybe because they were with us and there were check points as well along the way. You may not notice ... but they are there.

For sure, don't miss the opportunity to see this wonderful country without fear for your safely! :)
  • 1 month later...

I quite agree with this, we certainly never felt threatened in the least.

of tour buses being escorted by police????

But they have police check when leaving port area,,,,and returning,,,came onboard and checked our ship passes....

Really nothing to do except take tour or stay in port area,,,,so plan accordingly.;)

Miss UK

We watched a TV program last night about a woman from the UK who worked in Guatemala City as a paramedic for 2 weeks and it was unbeliveably crime-ridden. It has put my husband off from stepping off the ship when we reach Guatemala so I can certainly understand police escorts for tour groups. However there are other countries where as a tourist you are provided with armed guards such as Egypt.
Please don't judge the whole country because of one city. That's like saying you will never set foot in Mexico because Mexico City is a blyte on the Americas. Guatemala City is a hole, to be sure, I have been there many times and it is not a great city. The current murder rate is aroud 6k a year. But many parts of the country are beautiful with some of the nicest people and places you'll ever find, so give it a chance.
I haven't judged the country just saying what I saw on TV, the same as any country there are good and bad areas. I am not narrow minded, I make a judgement and take sensible precautions. What I saw hasn't put me off going to Guatemala but you do need to be aware of the situation of the country you are visiting and take note of any special safety advice given. I have visited high crime areas in the past or areas that are volatile and with a high military presence, that doesn't put me off, it makes me interested to know why the country is that way. If armed escorts are provided to groups of tourists then obviously there are higher risks than normal that you need to consider and some people may not wish to take that risk. I was just adding to the thread and I am slightly offended by your comments.

Sorry if I offended, not my intention. Looking over my post I can't imagine what you'd take offense to. Just giving some real world info from the country, and telling you the areas to try and avoid. Hope you have a great trip!

Nakantia

We visited Puerto Quetzal last month, and I don't recall having armed guards following the tour bus. Granted, I wasn't looking for them, but if they were there, they weren't very obvious. We didn't travel in a convoy -- I didn't see another tour bus until we arrived back at the port. We did see armed soldiers in various spots but this was true of most of the places we visited on the cruise -- kind of standard for Central and South America.

Guatemala was one of the highlights of our cruise and certainly the biggest surprise -- it was so beautiful and lush. We visited Antigua which is one of the most charming cities to which I've been. We never felt unsafe, and we were so taken by the country that we're planning on a land vacation there in the future.

Crime can happen anywhere, and any cruise that visits Guatemala is also going to visit other Central American and Mexican ports that have problems with crime also. Are you going to stay onboard for all of those ports too? Why not just book a different cruise?

Antigua Guate might just be my favorite place in all of central/south america and the carribean. There are plenty of great hotels in town, and you can get a micro bus to take you to Lake Atitlan, one ofthe prettiest in the world, for cheap. Great food, bars, and market, too.

gold coast tour bus police escort

  • Read Today's Paper

Police provided an escort for a bus carrying a large group of rowdy youth after Surfside drivers refused to pick them up

A SURFSIDE bus got a police escort at the weekend after drivers refused to pick up a group of about 50 rowdy youths who spilled out onto the street after a party.

Don't miss out on the headlines from Gold Coast. Followed categories will be added to My News.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Des Lacy said police coordinated an escort with Surfside after the youths told police they could not get a bus to stop for them.

“Police saw the group and pulled over to ask them what was going on and they said the bus wouldn’t stop to pick them up,” he said.

“Police contacted the bus service and got a bus to come and police escorted the bus to ensure everybody’s safety.”

While Surfside had no record of the Palm Beach incident, Supt Lacy said the escort was proof police remained focused on stamping out violence on buses.

“We are also maintaining our vigilance with the spot checks of buses where our guys will pull up to a bus shelter and make sure there are no undesirables there,” he said.

Transport Workers Union (TWU) Qld passenger transport co-ordinator Bob Giddens said bus drivers could choose not to pick up people they believe could pose a threat to others on board.

“Bus drivers can’t leave anybody behind if that person can be seen to be at risk, such as standing on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere,” he said.

“However, if the person is presenting themselves as a risk to passengers by being inebriated by drugs or alcohol then that has to be taken into consideration as well, and the driver can choose not to stop.”

Surfside Buslines head of operations, Les Manson, confirmed a driver could refuse a passenger who may pose a potential risk to passenger or driver safety.

The incident was one of two involving buses on the Coast over the weekend, with another large group causing a minor altercation at the Pacific Fair bus stop.

“The driver picked up a heap of young people and six of them got a bit rowdy so he stopped the bus and told them to get off,” Supt Lacy said.

“One of them pushed the driver and he pushed them back, but the driver did not want to make a complaint.”

All decisions not to stop for the safety of the driver and passengers have to be reported to Surfside communications and Mr Giddens said it was great to see police helping out.

“It’s definitely a good thing because if police have taken that stance and are escorting a bus in that situation then that’s great,” he said. “They are letting the public know police are out there watching the buses.”

Beaches and areas in Tuapse - overview and where to stay

This article has been translated from Russian language using an artificial intelligence-based translation algorithm. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the quality of the translation. You can read the original of this article in Russian here , and ask questions on the topic of our travel forum in English here .

Beach overview, prices and services

In our opinion, Tuapse is one of the most unsuccessful beach resorts in the Tuapse region. The fact is that the places here are not very environmentally friendly because of the industries and enterprises engaged in servicing the port. The cargo port itself, which occupies the entire coastline within the city center, does not add comfort, and constantly plying multi-ton vessels leave traces of fuel on the water.

All beaches of Tuapse are free, access to them is not limited. But their location makes them not very easily accessible, since they are on the outskirts, where you have to get from the center on foot or by Transport.

Tides in Tuapse are almost imperceptible, the difference is a few centimeters. If you are interested, you can see the graph of tides and their forecast:

And now a more detailed description of each of the beaches of the resort:

You can download ⤓ points of interest, important transport points (bus stations, airports, etc.), districts and beaches from our map in KMZ/KML format. These files can be downloaded to the navigator or smartphone for use with offline or online Google Maps applications, Organic Maps and others that support this format, and use them to navigate and explore resorts.

Tuapse City Beach

The main beach of the resort, begins in the south (left) behind the port and the Tuapse River, and stretches continuously for many kilometers ( City on the map ). Theoretically, on foot along the coast and railway tracks from here you can even walk to the beginning of Greater Sochi, but this, of course, is too far.

The entrance to it is from Gagarin Street, and it is free, but for entry by car you will have to pay 100 rubles for parking. If you wish, you can leave the car on the side of the road further from the entrance, and walk about 500 meters.

The City Beach is different in different areas: immediately at the entrance it is Pebbles, if you go further than 300 meters, there are areas with sand separated by breakwaters. In general, the entire coast here is broken by breakwaters and reinforced with concrete, and the railway passes from above. The depth is almost everywhere large, 5 meters from the shore is already on the shoulders of adults. The water is muddy, but as you move away from the center it becomes clearer.

Near the main entrance there are sun beds and umbrellas for rent, rental of SUP-surfboards, sometimes they offer to ride jet skis, but there is no more entertainment. By the way, renting sun loungers and umbrellas here is one of the most expensive on the whole coast – they ask 500 rubles per day and 400 for half a day. At the entrance on Gagarin Street there are stalls selling goods for recreation and souvenirs, cafes and fast food, selling excursions. Prices by the standards of other beaches and resorts of the coast are noticeably high.

Tuapse City Beach

Vesna, Gizel-Dere and Yuzhny beaches

If you continue walking along the coast from the city, you can get to the distant beaches of Vesna (1.75 km., Spring on the map ), Gizel-Dere (3 km., Gizel-Dere on the map ) and Yuzhny (4 km., ( on the map ) by the names of districts and train stops. In fact, they are no different from everything else-for the better, but rather for the worse. There is no entertainment and infrastructure on them.

Spring Beach in Tuapse

Seaside beach or Pier 167

Primorskiy is located on the northwestern (right) outskirts of the city across the Pauk River ( Primorsky on the map ). You can only get there on foot along the narrow Primorskaya Street along the river.

A completely pebbly beach, the pebbles are mostly large but flat. On the shore comes across natural and vacationing garbage, rarely cleaned. There are no amenities, entertainment and infrastructure, only at the entrance along the seaside street there are tents selling goods for tourists, selling excursions and a couple of cafes and fast food, and sun beds and umbrellas for rent at the very beginning of the beach. Therefore, going here on vacation, it is better to take your litter and a beach umbrella, you need "aquashuzes" to enter the water. Plus Primorsky-few people compared to the city. Along the coast you can go far along Cape Kadosh to completely wild places suitable for solitude.

Other beaches of Tuapse

In addition to the beaches mentioned above, Tuapse also includes other resorts in the Tuapse region, which can be considered as remote beaches. They will have to be reached by transport, but it is quite possible to go and relax on them during the day.
